  1. It's funny that you mentioned that because I really did briefly think of tossing whipped cream or chocolate syrup in the mix. But, since they were picking up Ashley, that'd have been a bigger mess to clean up. But, I wouldn't put it past them to use edibles in their play. And the others hadn't really failed the test, it was more of a way for Ashley to compare the love others had for her in comparison to her mother. Ash being the last test gave Ashley the guts to let her mother go, because up until that moment Ash had never failed her, in her eyes.
  2. That snail and the kid stuck on the bench playing basketball killed me. That swing at the end of the world would give me extreme vertigo. Nope. Just nope.

    Chapter 15- Moving

Not quite yet. There is a bit more.
  5. Something like that.
  6. When I suggested celebrating after work, I genuinely believed we'd be sharing good news. Brit's reaction caught me off guard—her excitement evaporated, replaced by disbelief. "You're turning it down?" she asked, her brows knitting together. "Yeah, I've got something else in mind for work," I admitted, guilt prickling beneath my words. "Wait, he's leaving us?" Brit gestured to Michael, her confusion turning to concern as she tried to process the news. "Not us. His shitty career," M
  7. Either she's an old soul or her young soul became old after all she's gone through.
  8. That scenario played differently every time Ashley brought someone with her. Mini-me was comparing them all, including Leslie. But, it probably still stung either way. The way that @LunaM.described it best was "ripping off the band-aid in one go rather than tugging it off gradually." That goodbye was Ashley ripping that band-aid off.
  9. That's kind of how it felt writing it. @LunaM.was my witness and collaborator on this one.
  10. I've been eating tictacs wrong, too! And I totally understand the misunderstanding of the girls on the weight. And that overstuffed truck...how the hell did they manage to do that? 😂
  11. I was sulking the entire drive back. No doubt Cove used my "birthday gift" as a means to distract me, but didn't realize it would work so well. Lately, we seemed as playful—and immature—as we'd been in our twenties. "What would you like me to order for lunch, love?" He asked after pulling into the driveway. "Lunch?" I asked, my attention finally shifting. "Your birthday, your choice. We'll need the energy later if I'm going to be dessert," He added, silver eyes glinting with misch
  12. Couldn't have described it better myself! Yes, and he's also finally being honest and vocal with Cove instead of totally avoiding since on a subconscious level, his trust in him has grown and grown.
  13. Ha ha! You caught it. Cove was mostly joking around, but Ash did indeed say he'd at least commit to next year. 😂
  14. The day's not fully over yet. 👀
  15. Success? 😂
  16. He was just teasing him. Earlier he said he wouldn't really take it back. He wouldn't really do that to Ash, he wants it just as bad. 🤣
  17. Yes, Ash has quite a few things to resolve. And, unfortunately, there is still even more to come. On the bright side, Ash is beginning to use 'we' when it comes to him and Cove?
  18. I jolted awake, hips thrusting into the heat surrounding me. Blinking away sleep, I caught Cove's silver gaze glinting with mischief—just before he swallowed me whole. Jesus, Mary, and Joseph. "Oh, fuck!" I groaned, threading my fingers through Cove's hair. He held himself at the base, sucking hard for a moment. My legs trembled as I fought to stay still. Cove was relentless, his head bobbing quickly over my length before sinking down to the base. I bit my arm to stifle the urge to thr
  19. The one about the plague and the renaissance painters killed me. 🤣
  20. According to the National Institute of Health, a study conducted in 1963 found that this method of determining pregnancy is accurate about 70 percent of the time. Who knew peeing on seeds wasn't that crazy of a pregnancy test.
  21. Cleaning out your computer: I actually did some of that yesterday just looking for old tax documents. Never did find the year bracket I was looking for.
  22. We just have to be grateful our parents didn't name us something like Polly Esther or Clair Voyant.
  23. Exactly. They kept a keen eye on Ash's reactions and came to the same conclusion.
  24. Cove didn't really name her after him, he just thought of Ash at the moment and said his name aloud. It was Todd who took that name and ran with it. But, Cove did consent to it so...also it's not all that uncommon to name a first or lastborn after an ex. My name technically was the name of my dad's ex. 😂
  25. No, you're reading it all right. This is from Ash's perspective. He's been blindsided by his family (albeit not entirely intentionally).
