“Tristan! What are you doing!?” Tristan skirted the edge of the pool, approaching Scheherazade with a determined look in his eye despite the insistence in her question. While he wasn’t sure he could trust Nevala, his instincts were telling him Scheherazade wasn’t telling him the whole truth, and he wasn’t about to throw himself into the pool like she was suggesting until he knew why. “I’m still willing to sacrifice myself, Scheherazade,” Tristan replied, “But not until I hear what Nevala

This year, I'm getting published, and I'm not going to rest until I've given it my all to do so. Same Q

I prefer winged chickens. The person below me has been very close to a wild bear at least once in their life.

No, I don't, but I've thought of taking up letter writing to help preserve the dying art form. What are your plans for the New Year?

The child is 13 (Give or take a year) This would be over Summer Vacation, and he'd be going on a road trip with his uncle. She only plans on sending him away for a short while, but I won't say any more for fear of spoilers. You make a good point about the police.

You've already been waiting for this one. That's what I've determined, but needed confirmation. Seemed a little muddy. LOL. That definitely would be an interesting thing to discover in your spouse's search history, huh? Glad to know it extends to international law as well, just in case. Thank you for the in depth response. This certainly clears it up. I might have to create some reason for the father to want to avoid involving law enforcement, then, like he has a standing warrant for missing a court appearance or something. I've known a few people in that situation, and I think I can figure something out. Otherwise, I may have to approach the story from a different angle and figure out how to work law enforcement in . . . Hmmm.

Yep. The person below me had to travel for the holidays.

Hello everyone! I'm having a bit of trouble finding the exact answer to my question, and I'm hoping someone will already know it. My legal background is simply not adequate to the task, probably because I don't have one. In a story I'm working on, the main character is caught kissing another boy. He comes home and confesses to his sympathetic mother, though they both fear what will happen when his highly religious father finds out. Unwilling to leave the rest of his siblings alone, the mother calls up her gay brother and asks him to come take him away. The father is unaware that she has any contact with this brother. The brother agrees, and helps get the kid out of the state. When the father comes home and asks where his son is, the mother says that the son is with her brother, but infers its not the same brother the father knew about. The father, appropriately misled, leaves it alone for a day before he learns he's been fooled. Would this be a case of kidnapping/Parental Child Abduction? The mother knows her son will be returning by a certain time, and the father knows he's with family. If this is a case of PCA/kidnapping, what are some ways I might be able to alter this situation to make it more ambiguous? Or should I simply create some other reason why the father wouldn't want the authorities involved? The base state is Idaho, in case that makes a significant difference.

It had been a long time since they’d fought side by side, but Nevala remembered it like it was yesterday. Ivan knew the elves had wised-up to his tricks, and likely would be anticipating him to follow the same pattern. He and Nevala planned carefully on how to take advantage of this fact, and when the time came, they risked a dangerous gamble and burst through the door of the tower and out into the open plaza. The elves didn’t immediately fire on them, instead aiming at the image of them sta

A very merry day of well-deserved existence to you, tim.

“Max!” Finn rushed to his lover and checked the wound, making sure moving him would not cause further damage. He fell to one knee and slid his hands under Max’s arms and began dragging him toward the cover of the tower doorway. “We’ve got company!” Micah shouted from somewhere near Finn. “They’re coming from everywhere!” Arrows rained down on them from the top of the tower and the roofs of the nearby buildings. Their werewolf escort took the brunt of the assault, but Finn was too con

Welcome, Daynemora. I've been known to read a few yaoi in the past. Maybe we should compare notes sometime. Welcome, Hunter. Always happy to see more teachers coming here. (I'm not one, but I think all teachers are awesome by default until proven otherwise)

Micah was happy to put distance between himself and Peter. He couldn’t make sense of his emotions, and he wasn’t sure he wanted to. He had hardly mourned the passing of any of his friends so far, but for some reason his parting with Peter had stirred something within him which made him long to see the doctor again. Perhaps it was the nature of the coming mission, Micah reasoned. They were going after a man who was practically at the status of a God, and he had both the powers of a phoenix an

There were people talking all around him, their chattering amongst each other seeming to do nothing but stimulate his agitation. None of them were speaking to him directly, but it seemed almost as if they were intentionally driving the point home that his own life was silent. Always silent. He glared at the others, though they certainly didn’t see him. They were too wrapped up in their own lives, their own stories, to notice the brief scowls of a man in his late twenties who had nothing better t

A man contemplates the journey his life has taken, and the way the music of love has overcome the profound silence he has felt for so long.

Wish I could wear it more often. I have six different rings I wear from time to time, but working in food service usually makes it very difficult. The person below me loves meaningful tattoos.

Thank you, Ricki! I was surprised to see a new review on War in Heaven, as it's one of the first things I posted here at GA when I joined back in February. Rumors of War is actually my first "novel" (Even though I split it into three novellas), and I think of it fondly even though I know it bears many of the faults of my early writing. I'm still proud of it, however, and I'm glad some still find it enjoyable. Religion affects a lot of my work, though I don't consider most of my works to be "religious" in nature. I come from a long theological background, and I like to think about different ways those religious beliefs could have come into play. Angels as aliens just made sense to me at the time. Thank you for the review! I hope you've enjoyed the other stories you've read as well.

Episode 7: A Question of Trust
Cynus commented on Cynus's story chapter in Episode 7: A Question of Trust
I was a tad obsessed in the thought process of "The darkness before the dawn" when I was writing this. My goal was to show how all of these different people had come from these tragic events, but were still fighting, hoping to forge a better world. At least, better from their own perspective. But isn't the real world like that, too? Don't we all have our own share of tragedy and bitterness, and when we are at our lowest points, do we not find a way to rise? These are the questions I was trying to keep in mind as I analyzed what Tristan must be feeling. Did I convey these adequately? That's for my readers to determine, I'm afraid. I have no great ability to ascertain the impact of my own stories, I can only go off what others tell me. I hope, at least, it has continued to keep you engaged. Thank you, as always, for the review. -
No. The only holiday I really celebrate at all is Samhain, and this was my first year really doing so. They're usually just like any other day to me, but sometimes I get to hang out with my family. Same Q

“So, how do I do this again?” Zach held Excallibur in front of him, focusing on the silvery blade as it sparkled in the sunlight. The others surrounded him on the village green near the burned husk of the helicopter Nevala had destroyed several days before. They had decided as a group to return and ask Fenrir for help in their attack on Avalon. Once they returned to the village, Fenrir offered beds and refreshment, and everyone agreed it was better to take some time to recuperate. Za

I had a lot of opportunities for this as a missionary, but there are several which stand out. I think I've finally narrowed it down to one in particular, though. While living in Eastern Seoul, part of our area included a small city just outside of Seoul called Hannam. It was a thirty minute bus ride there, but we would go there sometimes to proselyte (common Mormon spelling of proselytize. Perfectly synonymous). Rules for missionaries were rather strict, and we were expected to be back home by 9:00 pm (21:00). At around 8:25, while heading toward the bus stop to try and make it home in time, we ran into a frantic-looking Caucasian woman who seemed completely lost. Trying to be the good souls we advertised to be, instead of going to catch our bus we doubled back and asked her if she needed any help. We're going to call her Amber (not her real name). Amber told us a long story about how she'd just moved in with her Korean boyfriend, and his mother had just stopped in for a completely surprise visit and announced she was staying the night. This mother was very strict religiously, and could not find out that Amber was living there or there would be hell to pay, and so Amber left for the night with no place to stay. We learned about her as we stayed with her for almost an hour, trying to find somewhere for her to go, until we finally managed to get her a place at the bathhouse for the night. We never saw her again, but she'll always stick in my memory. New Question: How do you feel about your current job?

Love it. Even started a club in high school centered around it. The person below me is or has considered becoming a vegetarian.
