    Chapter 5

There are several factors that Howard is finding confusing. The structure of the temple, being Greek in design. The artifacts they have found and the location of the temple. Howard has what we call a nagging thought, there is a difference and he can't put his finger on it.

    Chapter 5

There was a big difference between temples built and designed by the Greeks and Egyptian. Temperature differences were a large factor. The weather in Greece required a closed temple whereas the temples built in Egypt were essentially like a garden, open roofs. This was what confused Howard.

    Chapter 5

“Howard” I was lost in thought when Mostafa called my name. I almost fell Into the sand in front of me. “Mostafa, you scared me. I was lost in thought.” “What are you thinking?” “If the Greeks built this temple, it would follow the way temples were built in Greece at that time. If this is the front of the temple, we will see engraving in the pediment and the name of the person to whom this temple was dedicated.” “Are you still thinking this temple has something to do with Ale

    Chapter 4

I would have had a shovel with me as well.

    Chapter 4

Like thieves there is honor among archeologists
  11. CLJobe

    Chapter 4

The Greek temples identification was at the top of the entry way. Howard hopes that by seeing what is engraved on that wall will give a clue. If what they are working oil is the back, then there will no engraving.

    Chapter 4

Yes it could be the back, it would be hard to tell the front or back on grecian temple until one end has been uncovered. All we know I that the temple is sitting north-south from the use of the instruments. That may be why Howard is excited.

    Chapter 3

As far as I know there have been unsuspected tombs found in Egypt and other places. I believe the field of archeology is alive and having expeditions have been a large draw for recruiting students. This story is fictional even though I have included some facts and will continue to do so. There have been stories written about Alexander III, 'the Great" that is based on other writings of the time, both Grecian and Roman. I am not as familiar with all of Josephus's works to comment if he included anything about Alexander.

    Chapter 3

I priced those coins and I thought they weren't cheap. I guess the silver content plus the age is worth the price. What is on the front and back of your coin.
  18. CLJobe

    Chapter 3

I will check to see if they can use an Englishman to shovel the "sand"
  19. CLJobe

    Chapter 3

Funding for these expeditions is usually through a university, museum and sometimes the government, in this case Egypt. As a result ant artifacts found are not the property of the team doing the expedition.
  20. CLJobe

    Chapter 3

For Howard there was no other choice he was willing to resign if he didn't get his requested leave
  21. CLJobe

    Chapter 4

Arriving back at the University, Mahmoud was there to meet me. I told him I thought the building was a Greek temple. “Howard, why would they build a Greek Temple in such a deflated place?” “I’m not sure that place was desolated in 332 BC. Suppose it wasn’t desolated. There could have been an oasis here which would make it a desirable place.” “If it was a desirable place, why a Greek temple? I would think the Egyptians would build a temple here. Under the Persians, the Egyptians were fo

    Chapter 2

I'll let you know when we are able to get into the temple. I think there was something not readily accepted by the populace unless there was something there to draw people. I'm sure Howard will tell us
  23. CLJobe

    Chapter 2

I am with you. When I was a lad I had many thoughts about what I wanted to be. Archaeology was one and to some extent I still enjoy articles about their digs
  24. CLJobe

    Chapter 2

Yes, but I think Howard will find a way to spend more time there
  25. CLJobe

    Chapter 2

First they have to dig the building out. Between the wind and sand it won't be an easy job
