I brought up two jars of Nonna’s tomato paste and three jars of her canned tomatoes. The fresh tomatoes we’ll use for salad. I always took having salad for granted, and it seems we have it at every meal, except breakfast. I bet if we had a breakfast recipe that called for tomatoes, we would have it then as well. They are highly competitive. You would think with the brood of chickens Tony has there would be enough to satisfy two or more roosters.

On week-ends, the boys worked in the garden, getting it ready for spring planting. They had completed the paddock for the horses. I had to see it. They said I needed to approve it. They wanted a tiller to work the ground so it could be seeded with grass. I called Dad, and he said he and Mom would be over this week-end. Charlie will eventually get both cars running. The most important car for Tony is Pa's car. Charlie will get that one first. I never thought making sausage was so sexy.

Yes, it its becoming a working farm. But then that is expected with the boys living there.

I headed to the basement; I needed to cut the meat and start to grind it. Usually, this would be a two-person job. One would feed the meat to the grinder, and then the meat would be mixed with herbs and spices. The mixture would age for a week. Then it would be put through the grinder again, only this time it would be stuffed in a casing and tied off. I helped Pa do this so many times. I’ll get the boys to help when it comes time to fill the casings. I was well into cutting the meat and fee

Yes, there's no reason for the boys to join a fraternity. They wouldn't have much time between studying and taken care of the farm. Tony make one kind of salami , the same his Pa made. I have tasted this and it its very good, it is like a hard salami. The closest I have come to it is Genoa Salami you can buy in a deli or grocery store.

School started the second week of August. The first week was meet and greet with families of the students starting college. The second week was the first week of classes for the freshmen. Yes, the boys have begun to call Tony's parents Mom and Dad. The boys are old enough to be considered adults under the law, so their birth parents have no authority over them. They are idiots, to give up these boys.
