  1. Peter arrived at the hospital about Nine p.m. It had been a mad dash from Mornington and he was hard-pressed to stay under the speed limit. Giving Sammy’s name, he was immediately sent to the intensive care unit. Desperate to find out news, he was then sent to the nurses’ station and asked to see ‘Samuel Forsythe’. He was impatiently waiting for details when Billee walked out of a small waiting room. “Oh Peter, Peter. I’m so glad you’re here. They won’t let me see him because I’m not a relativ
  2. The only gauge as to whether a surprise party is a success is - was it a surprise? Peter had invited Karl and Maria over for dinner to celebrate Karl’s birthday. They were to arrive at 7pm. Now, a little after, Peter answered the doorbell and, after shaking Karl’s hand, directed them into the house. Telling Karl he wanted him to see something outside he led Karl, with Brenda and Maria following, out onto the darkened back patio. At a signal from Peter, Brenda hit the lights, disclosing forty od
  3. The idea for a surprise birthday came from a conversation at school between Maria and Brenda. Maria was lamenting on what to give Karl for his birthday, when Brenda suggested a surprise party. At the time, it was a great idea. For obvious reasons, it was tentatively planned to hold the party at Brenda’s house. Now that his birthday was only two weeks away, it was time to get down to detailed planning. There is a little coffee house down on the harbor at Mornington, which has views over Port Phi

    Chapter 6

Glad you're enjoying my effort. This is the first story I ever wrote. It's been finished but I'm getting a bit frustrated to only publish one chapter at a time.
  5. It was after 3 o’clock on Tuesday afternoon when Maria and Gwen met for coffee. The request had come from Gwen. The place they had chosen was small, with plants placed to give an atmosphere of intimacy. The walls were butter cream adorned with vibrant pictures. “Shall we sit here?” Gwen said, indicating a secluded table. When Maria nodded affirmatively, Gwen strolled to the front desk and placed their order. Now sitting down across from Maria, she opened the conversation with - “I’m just so so
  6. Since she awoke this morning, Maria had been getting more apprehensive as the day progressed. She thought about having to tell her folks that babies were not on any agenda - and the reason why. She knew that Karl and her parents were not particularly close. Now they were sure to see Karl in a more negative light. If only my grandfather had not fought against Germans, my own father would not harbor animosity against the whole German race. Karl had demonstrated his qualities as a husband repeated
  7. Rick slowly emerged from the alcoholic haze that seemed to shelter him. With increasing awareness, came the realization that he was not in his own bed. There was a little pink bunny staring at him from the side dresser. He hated pink bunnies. He loathed pink bunnies. Then he remembered he passed out at Peters place last night - again. Embarrassing. In fact, he had slept in one of the girls beds. Oh God, he thought - not again. This was becoming a bad habit. What do Peter and Brenda think of him
  8. Saturday morning arrived with Peter getting up early. No Friday night steam bath visits and not much booze meant he awoke with a clear head, and mouth. Both he and Brenda were very subdued all week with the news from Karl and Maria. They realized that their friends had become victims of one of nature’s cruelest acts. Maria, Brenda told Peter, was uncharacteristically quiet. All she said was that she loves Karl and that they will get through this crisis together. Brenda wasn't fooled. Brenda al
  9. He was jolted awake by a mess of arms, legs and hair landing on his stomach. This was to the sound of girlish high squeals and laughter. “Get up Dadda -’s late. Dadda - wake up, c’mon, Susie tickle him”- suggested by his eldest daughter Narrelle. “All right - all right - stop it.” pleaded Peter “I’m awake. - Don’t tick - ha. Ha. Ha. Stop it - ha - he - he - alright you’ve won, I’m awake.” He heard Brenda call out “C’mon girls - Let daddy get up. Come and have your cereal.” Pushing all memorie
  10. Chapter 1 Peter showered and turned off the tap. Wrapping the towel around his midsection, he made his way to the in-house cafe. All around him, the sounds of the bathhouse continued quietly. Friday nights were always busy. Peter was sure that many of the guys were just like him; married and desperate to relieve their sexual tensions before going home to wife, girlfriend, or family. He collected his long black coffee from the half-naked attendant and found an empty table. The café was not ve
  11. In the gloom of the gay bathhouse, the smells and sounds of lust provided stimulation to my desperate need for relief. Trolling through the dim corridors, I assessed each semi naked male body. No, not the young man with a hairy chest; no certainly not the older man with a pronounced pouch; no, definitely not the blond with an even all over suntan; and definitely not the bikie with a droopy mustache. I continued wandering, until I spied a young man perhaps late teens or early twenties, who was b
  12. Peter Symons, a married man becoming weary with lying about his homosexuality, decides to face the consequences and 'come out'. Then at a bathhouse, he meets a young man called Sammy, rejected by his family, and then victimized by the larger homophobia community. This is a love story, a love story involving two people - who happen to be gay.
  13. I dunno. I'm waiting for the story to move forward and not get bogged down in all this phsyco stuff. Is there a point to all this? In real life would someone prone to panic attacks be allowed to dive underwater? I gather the author has had emotional problems. As well
  14. Hi. My name is Graham and I live in Melbourne Australia. I've published several books through Smashwords but now I look forward to input from the gay community. Most of my books will have an 'Aussie' flavor but being gay is universal.
