The lights were still on. There was comfort in knowing someone was waiting for him. That if something had gone wrong, more than just his fish would notice. Dorian smiled at Felix as he came through the door. “Still awake?” Felix set aside whatever he had been writing in a notebook. “You went all doom and gloom and I couldn't sleep. What'd you get?” Dorian lifted up the case of beer and bottle of tequila. “Standard 'I didn't get shot' package.” Felix eyed him as he put the beer in the fridge.

Morning work-out was a lot hastier than usual. Now—thanks to Felix—along with internal distraction, his view consisted entirely of the “dungeon”. The tech dry run was taking too long. Budget was never very roomy for the PD and even less so for CID. Half of the equipment had been in service longer than Chase. A lot of your concerns are actually addressed in the next chapter! Dorian tends to be fairly dismissive of opinions/statements that aren't based on real experience, so Felix's input on the brand wasn't relevant to him. But we'll get into more of that later! Wednesdays were always a circus in CID. They always had just the right mix of case momentum without the steam loss of Thursdays and before the desperate scramble of Fridays.
