I wasn't old enough to pay attention when I lived in small communities and it being in a different country changes the perspective on how I remember it. Though if my Gran was any indication of the general view of the village, it didn't carry on to the local priest.
It's sometimes easier to find people like her in small towns just do to population, but as someone pointed out, the Cassidy's of the world are just as prevalent in large cities.
