Chapter 9: The Pink Elephant That night I found my mind kept wandering back to Dizzy’s words. There was just something about them, some sweet sincerity to it all. Maybe I am a little scared of him. He’s just so free and adventurous, can I handle that? Should I just keep going after Ky? But then am I choosing the safe choice? Am I holding myself back? “Dizzy stop!” Adam shouted into a headset, causing me to jump. “You’re actually playing with him?” I asked, glancing over to Adam.

Chapter 8: T.B.C. Dinner with the Rites was an interesting experience. For just three people they were loud and full of life! Now that I know the people he really grew up with, well, it’s not hard to see where Adam got his laid back attitude from! It doesn’t seem like much bothers them and if it does they just shake it off! Much to Adam’s dismay I got some stories about his teenage years. Nothing revealing, just stories about him in High School. He actually sounds a lot more like Dizzy

Thank you! I'll actually make the edit! Getting critical comments like this is really helpful to making sure the story is as accurate as possible. I appreciate the help!

It was one of my favorite comments, and made me laugh, so I had to make sure it was referenced!

Chapter 7: Mistakes Ever since I moved to California my life’s started to seem like an adventure. Every day there’s something new to explore, or someone new to meet. Maybe to some people that’d be overwhelming, but to me, it’s exactly what the doctor ordered. I needed a restart. I needed a spark to bring me back to life. And well, California didn’t just spark me, it straight up electrocuted me! That night when I laid awake in bed, I couldn’t stop thinking of my first week here. Everythin

Really happy to hear! Those are the worst kind of people! Unfortunately knew one well a few years ago. Bashed people who were on welfare, but had no problem collecting his check every month. It was okay, he was "using it properly"

It is. It's very uplifting. It's lyrics were such a strong inspiration for this chapter that I named the chapter after it!

Thats awesome! My own girl bestie was actually the inspiration for her. We're both very lucky to have them, friends like that are irreplaceable!

Good to hear! Hopefully you can get your answers soon! I'm happy you're enjoying it! I think two at once would break Artie's brain! Then again, that would help get out all the crap he was taught back in his hometown!

Chapter 6: Where It All Begins As we sat down for dinner Adam kept looking at me closely, then away. It’s like he’s trying to figure out something, as though he’s trying to crack some type of code. When he finally looked at me once more I forced eye contact and held it. “What?” He asked, trying his hardest to play it cool. “You keep staring at me.” I shrugged with a smile. “I’m not staring.” He shook his head. “I’m just, thinking.” “Do you need to look at me to think?” I teas

This is the most jealous I've been of any of my characters 😂

Glad it could help, and that you're enjoying it!

Chapter 5: Waves The next morning when I woke up I found nothing but excitement flowing through me. I thought I’d be nervous, between surfing and being one on one with Ky, well I’m not sure which one scares me more! Yet, he just has a certain way about him. A way I know will keep me calm, so why get nervous in the first place? It’s been a lot all at once, but this is what I’ve been asking for, isn’t it? I wanted a new adventure. I wanted a place to sweep me off my feet and help me forget

Chapter 4: New Best Friend Laying around watching Harry Potter with Adam wound up being one of the best things I could’ve done. I’ve never really seen a movie like it. I’ve never really seen many good movies at all! Part of it is living in a small sheltered town, another is I would always rather read. But I guess I’m changing, because wow! “Alright.” Adam sighed as the credits began to roll. “Have enough energy to watch the second one?” “Adam,” I laughed, pushing the pizza box in fro

I love this comparison! Didn't expect it, but it works! Happy to do it! Good to hear! I was hoping this story would pull readers in early!

Chapter 3: The New Kid I couldn’t believe my eyes as we flew over the city. The truth is I’ve never left Texas before, and now, well now I’m fifteen-thousand feet in the air, and over a thousand miles from home! My imagination seemed to spark to life as I looked at the setting sun over my new city. So this is it, this is home now. I don’t know what the people are going to be like. I don’t know if I’m going to fit in. But I have a second chance at this, and I’m not wasting it. “Artie,” Ad

Thank you! It'll certainly be a huge learning curve for both Artie and Adam. Have no fear Chapter 3 will be posted in just a few short hours! I'm glad you kept reading even though you didn't like chapter 1 all that much. I promise Chapter 3 will be a good one!

Thank you! That'd be one hell of a journey! However, he was certainly desperate enough.

Very glad to hear!

Real heroes (who didn’t sign up for dangerous jobs)

Wow! That’s like something out of a movie. Hope this man is given some type of award. Would also love if a local gay club threw a party for him. It’d be a good way to bring two communities together in spite of the unfortunate way these 4 men met him. -
One of the saddest things in life. Feels like if they would just combust the world would be a much better place.

Chapter 2: Outcasts It took everything in me to hide my smile as my uncle filled out the remaining custody forms. Don’t get me wrong, I know absolutely nothing about the man, but anything is better than being stuck with my grandparents. I took a closer look as I realized just how much he looked like my mother. He has her eyes, her nose and that weird eye twitch she had whenever she was anxious. Leaving her is going to be hard, but at least now I know a small part of her will be with me, even

Real heroes (who didn’t sign up for dangerous jobs)

Love it! Reminds me of what happened shortly after 9/11. Almost all massive transportation systems out of NYC were shut down (Bridges,Trains, Busses etc.). People were in a large panic fearing another attack could happen at any moment. The only way out of Manhattan was by boat, but obviously there weren't enough to handle the large crowds. I'm not sure exactly how it started, but soon enough all different types of boats were lining up to transport people. It was anything from tugboats to yachts. In the end they transported half a million people out. There's so much toxic and negative news out there, but real heroes do show up when we need them. Maybe if everyone shared more news like this the world wouldn't seems so scary after all. -
