I forgot to ask/comment... William is only 10, so he might or might not notice already, but I wonder if in a couple of years he will notice the care George and Francis have for each other and if he will talk to his father. Will George have to have a conversation about sexuality 2 centuries before it's "time"? 😬

Not marry, none of our boys wants that, but didn't the unmarried princesses had affairs? An affair impossible to turn into a marriage is also a good excuse so remain unmarried for a while 😉

Well, they need to see it from the good prism, even if they don't reach the act, rumors of either Francis or George (or both) connection with Royal princesses would do wonders to their reputation. No one would find strange if Francis went to live with George and attended to court more often. Since the young Amelia is already in awe of Calvert, I'm personally in favour of Mary (future Duchess of Gloucester and Edinburgh) for George (Karma is a b****).

Good thing they knew each other already and the Major Gambier accepted George's suggestions. Better prevent any problems. Sometimes I think Winkler is too respectful of George, how he doesn't dress down those 2 for giving him more work I will never know. 😁

Did anyone else felt the vibe of "power couple"? With Francis injured they even have a good excuse to live together when they go back to London, after all it's not strange for George to offer accomodation to a close friend, Freddie lives with them, and Daventry live in Portland house for a while after their mission before setting his one house in London to raise his child. Great chapter @Mark Arbour!

Great chapter, and it's great that Francis is back. Plus he is lucky to be stuck with George at the King's court, we know he is charming so it will probably do wonders to his reputation. And I agree with what was said above, Lord Brentwood and Sir Francis has a good ring to hit 😁

Well, not sure that's totally true, I think it just reflects the times, and how their relationship cannot be an open one. Back before Gatling, Francis was the probably the most devoted one, he was even willing to pass being Captain just to be with George (back in the South American Adventure), George was the one that made him see the society perspective. And lovers, isn't George the same, or worse? He does have a hard time having male friendships/acquaintances that aren't sexual. I love George to bits, but not sure we could commit to one lover like Francis did (at least before, we all change with age and life after all). -

Oh no! Having always been "team Francis", I hope he is alive, he really is George's soulmate. If they are reunited maybe George will nurse him back to health. I can only imagine how strongly George might be wishing to do like Sir Sidney Smith (I think that's his name) and get his own private frigate to go meet Francis. It's a good thing at least that some relationships that were important to him (his father, St Vincent) are slowly mending, even if they will never bem like before.

It's great to see George interact more with the children. Why do I feel that William is s mixture of George and Bertie? Not the shameless take part, but the charming mischievous part of Bertie. I know it's not common in George's times to interact much and be close to the children, but I hope George shows himself different again and teaches them, particularly William, is values. Hopefully he learns that Caroline's error was not the affair, but her behavior. We don't want William to become a puritan after all.

Also, I have a question to anyone that understands title promotion better than me: since contrary to Daventry, George did not receive a new title but had Brentwood promoted to Earldom, did he receive a complementary Viscount title? Like is he Earl Granger of Brentwood, Viscount Granger of Brentwood and Baron of Ryde, or is he Earl Granger of Brentwood, Viscount X and Baron of Ryde? ( I am already assuming that he will do as Lord Spencer and continue to use is name as title, instead of doing as Caroline suggested several books ago and start using Brentwood as name). Really this doesn't affect him much, but will impact how William will be called - either Lord Granger as well ( From Viscount Granger title) or Lord X.

I thought about that too a couple of chapters ago, that with putting his family in order, his quarrel with St Vincent, and the one year of peace, it will probably be a bit of time until he return to the sea. Although after my holidays this year I have one question: Why is George not visiting his grandfather all the time??? I can totally understand the admiral's decision to not leave Antigua 😂

It's not about William, which is the older son. He is Baron of Ryde as courtesy now that George is a Viscount, if George was made Earl of something, William courtesy title would be upgraded towhat George uses now, Viscount Granger, of Brentwood. If George got 2 double promotion and was made Marquess of X, Earl of Y, William would use the Earl of Y. The issue was is second son, Alexander, that was inheriting the maternal grandfather Viscount titlevand now has none. So it seems unlikely that the King would give a peerage to a non-royal blood 2nd son. I am not sure if it's possible, but He might George a second title though, with the provision to be inherited by Alexander, instead of advancement. Whatever it is will be good for the family anyway 😄

Thanks @Mark Arbour, so excited we have a new chapter. George keeps building is name as a powerful house, not only a polite and honorable naval captain, but an incredibly rich aristocrat, and although he dislikes to admit, a skilled diplomat and politician. Looking forward to the next developments.

Definitely, I thought about that too, Bertie will love it. And e even got a house out of it. 😁 PS: If it wasn't so far away I imagine Bertie coming briefly to Britain just so he can invite everyone to his beautiful country house.
