I just got a PM from someone who borrowed one of my poems a while back to share with her class. She said several students felt it had been written for them and were very moved by it. Very cool to hear.

True. It's in a lot of dishes. SPAM is consumed more on the islands than anywhere else, 7 million cans a year. SPAM musubi is a local favorite.

There's a Hawaiian restaurant about 30 miles from where I live. Ever since I lived on the islands, whenever I'm sick, I immediately crave saimin. So a few days ago I drove the distance to get some. Fuck, it was good. I wish they delivered. (wanting some now...)

Don't get me wrong, I bet that restaurant is superb, A. But definitely on the fancy side. For a special date night or something.

I definitely recommend Vietnamese cuisine. I have a place near me that has killer marinated/grilled meat in all their meat dishes. Everything is very flavorful.

This should never be a thing. Yet, sadly, every students faces lockdowns at school anymore. I went to a benefit concert a couple of months ago, not an anti-gun rally, but an anti-gun-violence rally, and there were guest speakers, Columbine survivors talking about the aftermath, kids as young as 3rd grade talking about their personal experiences, their daily fears, hiding in school closets thinking today's the day I'm going to die at the hand of a stranger, a neighbor, a peer. It's effed up in every way.

Just woke up in the armchair with a cat on my chest and a cat at my feet and drool on my chin. Didn't even know I'd fallen asleep. I am pathetic when I'm sick. Also, snow's closing in.
