  1. I was too angry at Dustin to post all my thoughts in my review so I'll try again here. For the record, I've always been on Team Find-Someone-Else-Because-They're-Both-Terrible but I've sided with Dustin up until he pushed Billy in the lockers. Dustin deserved better than constantly being pushed aside and forgotten because his best friend was too caught up in Brett to pay him any attention. But the apple doesn't fall too far from the tree, and the way he completely turned on Billy and did what he did after finding out he's gay crossed so many lines for me that I can't bring myself to feel any sympathy for him at all, and I don't think I'll feel sorry for him when his little safe space with Mike comes crashing down. Yes, he came to see Billy first, but once Billy admitted to being gay Dustin just shut him out completely and didn't listen to anything he had to say. I hope he enjoys being alone after kicking away the only person who gave a damn about him. Still, I can't help but wonder if he's angry at Billy for being gay or for making Brett his boyfriend instead of Dustin. Brett sounds like someone who's insecure. It feels like being a dick is a front he puts up to hide his own weaknesses (every insult Dustin threw at him, basically) and he only lets his true self show when he's with Billy. He feels threatened by Dustin's close friendship with Billy so he's willing to do anything to get him out of the picture. I don't know what happened after Billy left, but I bet Brett was really shocked and hurt by Billy walking out and didn't put up much of a fight after that. Whatever his reasons, it doesn't excuse what he did to Dustin and the damage he did to Billy. One thing I'll say, though, is this: it didn't end exactly the way he planned, but Dustin fell right into his trap and he managed to push him out of Billy's life like he wanted. I really hope he can change and become better. I still have some hope for Brett because it sucks to know that one of these two will likely get Billy when neither of them deserves to have him. I honestly can't really find fault with Billy this time. He really tried everything to defuse the situation and was really just a spectator in this mess. He only brought up the thing with Mike because Dustin backed him into a corner, so I can't really blame him for that. Besides, threatening to out someone is even worse in my opinion. I still think the best thing for Billy at this point is to go back to his mom and step back from this mess for a while so he can think things through. I expect that at some point Dustin will get his head out of his ass and realise that Billy was sticking up for him and trying to get Brett to back off, and that he only lashed out when his boyfriend was attacked, but it's already too late for that. Some things just can't be taken back.
  2. wow, talk about burning bridges. Spikey's right about Billy needing to be away from both of them, and it looks like he will, for now. I used to have some sympathy for Dustin, but not anymore. His actions in this chapter show what kind of friend he really was. Kicking his broken hand, really? Fuck him. I hate to say it, but Brett was right, Dustin's just a useless little shit like his father. And Brett? Well, Billy finally saw with his own eyes the things he always refused to believe and he's really in love if he forgives Brett after this. I would have slapped him at the very least What Billy needs to do now is convince his parents to let him go live with his relatives in Pittsburgh to get away from these two morons and all the trouble they're going to cause him. What he's going to do instead is regress to blaming himself and try to do something stupid. And he should definitely not lie about what happened to his hand when the doctors ask. In any case, this is far from over. In fact, I think this is just Round One. Brett's going to find out what happened at Billy's house, and he knows about Mike too, so... I really wish Billy could find a third guy and go out with him instead of having to choose between Crazy Bully and Mr. Asshole

    Chapter 10

great chapter as always. I went through previous chapters to be sure, but from what I can tell the King's problem is that Phoenix is a commoner, not the same-sex relationship itself. If you look at it this way, it makes sense that the King would agree to marry Noah off to Landon (who's a noble), although I doubt he'd be stupid enough to agree to this if he's aware of the people's support for Noah&Phoenix. It will be very interesting to see where things go from here. I don't see Phoenix staying away for very long, and with the people's support for Noah the King may soon have an unpleasant situation to deal with. And I think Landon will find that his "bride-to-be" is more than he can handle.

    Think or Feel

Great chapter as always! It's good good to see someone finally tell Billy he's in a glass closet, he should have figured it out by now. And I agree that his dad knows, the way he tells him to "take good care of Brett" pretty much confirms it to me after his remarks in Book 3. As for Billy's mom, either she's an idiot and doesn't know, or she's like Billy with Brett's drug use and she refuses to see all the obvious signs. I love how complex the boys are and I have to keep changing my opinion of each of them, especially Brett. It seems that whenever I decide he's bad news for Billy a chapter like this comes along where I agree with almost everything he says. Still, I can't believe anything that comes out of his mouth when it comes to Dustin since they obviously hate each other so much. And yes, they're going to fight but I don't know how bad it's going to get or if Billy getting hurt is going to be the cause or the result of the fight. As for Dustin, Brett's right that there's something we don't know about his situation, although I'm sure we'll find out what it is very soon. He sounds like a bully without a victim right now, looking for someone he can have power over so he can get some sense of self-worth. He gets that from Mike to some extent, but I don't think that's enough for him anymore. And I also think it's his strange way of making a play for Billy's heart. Ever since that sleepover on book 3 I've been convinced that this whole thing is a love triangle. The way I see it, Brett read Dustin right away and wants to get his rival out of the way (so he's lying about not being able to figure Dustin out so clueless Billy doesn't find out Dustin's into him and decides to consider it). And Dustin's been taught that success means being tough and not taking shit from anybody (the whole "man up" thing), so naturally he would try to show Billy how tough he is and is getting frustrated because he doesn't understand why it's not working. Then again, maybe I'm reading this completely wrong. I don't see Billy and Dustin still being friends by the time the volleyball thing starts, and unless Billy does something incredibly stupid (as he's likely to do), it's all going to be on Dustin for not being able to compromise on the issue of Brett. Finally, I think that where the confrontation will take place is also important. If it's at Brett's house or close to it, there's a good chance Jenny could get involved, which means she might try to get Dustin some form of counseling to help him not end up like his father.

    Chapter 9

Wow, this is getting really interesting, great story. now, either Landon is lying or the king is really stupid in handling this situation. He might be surprised to see the people side with the Prince on this one. And I'm pretty sure Phoenix can beat Landon on his own, but he might have some trouble with his little crew.

    Dustin's Pride

Great chapter once again! Dustin's completely right about Brett, even though Billy refuses to see it. Brett has this jealous, possessive and manipulative side when it comes to Billy and we've seen that, so I think Dustin's telling the truth on this one. I'm starting to think Billy should stay away from him, to be honest. As for Dustin, well he's FINALLY standing up for himself and fighting back, so that makes me happy. Although roughing up Billy like that might have just pushed him away for good, we'll see("maybe Brett was right about him"). It looks like Billy's going to become collateral damage in Brett and Dustin's battle, and he might just end up ditching both of them. And it has to be Brett who told the whole school that Dustin broke his arm, that's just really low. I don't know when it'll happen, but I feel that Dustin's going to fight Billy and kick his ass at some point (because of Mike?), things seem to be heading in that direction.

    Chapter 7

Great chapter as usual, com. I'm liking the slow pace in this one, the boys are so sweet. Now if only his dad didn't interrupt...
  8. Poor Billy, already feeling guilty about not seeing his dad, he really can't forgive himself for anything. So now we have Brett's mom starting some sort of therapy work on him, which will do him some good. I think Billy just needs someone to talk to about all the things going on in his life, and Dr Reilly looks like she might be that person, and she can give him some good advice on how to deal with his issues. I'm guessing next chapter will be about Dustin trying to see if Billy's ok, and Brett won't even let him see Billy at first, causing another fight. The dynamic between the three boys is really interesting. Most of the fighting is instigated by Brett in the first place, but I noticed it's also the only time Dustin ever stands up for himself. And of course Billy is oblivious to the fact that they're fighting over HIM, so he keeps trying to make them get along. Someone is going to have to break that stalemate. Really looking forward to the next chapter!
  9. Great start to a new series, can't wait to see what happens. So it seems obvious that Billy will find out the truth about Brett's drug use and that someone will tell the cops about Dustin and Mike (probably Brett but maybe Billy tells Brett's mom first and she reports it). Either way it's not going to be pretty. And I think Billy going back to school for the last week is going to be a mistake, especially with how Brett's going to stick to him like glue. Finally, I don't remember Billy saying he wanted to kill himself, but I guess I can see how Dustin could interpret it that way. Few points I'm wondering about: what's going to happen when Billy sees a mirror, will he freak out again? How much will he tell Brett's mom about what happened? Will Dustin bottom for Mike after all (I hope not)? Will Dustin and Billy still be friends at all by the end of this (starting to doubt it, and certainly not if Brett has his way)? Oh, and the way Brett is trying to push Dustin completely out of Billy's life is starting to creep me out a little.
  10. Wow, great chapter Com! Everybody should have someone like Lori, she's a true friend. Glad Tristan is finally ready to take his relationship with Jesse to the next level and become a real couple. And I bet his mom just can't wait to meet the boy who makes her baby so happy. I'm really looking forward to seeing how that call went.

    Chapter 23

I have a bad feeling about Jimmy. If he's getting desperate enough to start threatening Billy with his absence, then Billy might have just pushed him over the edge. Hopefully it's not too late. As for Bobby, we're not getting the full story from his side so there's probably a lot more going on with that. My guess is Ian mentions Billy a bit too much and that just feeds Bobby's insecurities. Bobby already feels inadequate compared to the Super Amazing, Perfect and Flawless Billy Chase, so he probably feels he's losing his boyfriend and is trying to protect himself from getting hurt by being distant. As for Billy and his mom, he needs to be more mature and patient about this instead of whining like a little brat. He needs to give her time to get used to the idea, have Brandon over when she's around and be all sweet and cuddly to SHOW her that his relationship with Brandon is about more than just sex. And if she still doesn't trust them and give them some 'alone time' after that, then he can whine all he wants. It's like she said, Billy has to prove that he's being mature and responsible in his relationship, and his actions don't prove it right now. And we still don't know what Brandon does on Mondays. Probably visiting Stevie, but part of me hopes it has to do with AJ so we can see Billy completely lose it.
