“Joel, you have to get on out of here,” Celia said as she swatted me on the shoulder as she hurried by. She woke me up earlier than I would have on any given Saturday morning. I was a few bites into a sausage biscuit that she placed in front of me. Holding it in my hand, I watched her clear my plate and glass of water away. I was already dressed for the morning, despite not wanting to be awake right now. “Can’t I just go back to bed,” I grunted leaning against the island resting both my elb

I never specified that it was Javin either, so... double that down and reverse it.

Oh no, I am so scared for them... 😮 They're too innocent for Percy and Five, far, far, too innocent. Those two are filthy.

I don't feel sorry for you. Not in the least.

Oh FFS, for the whole damn post, but especially the Edit.

We have him back! Yes! Oh gosh... I did double up on the at least. I do that a lot. Must be the rambling southern in me. We ramble so much that we forget what we said at the start of our rambles. I feel blessed that I've made my mark in your story, 'Frosted Hearts.' I just wished it didn't have anything to do with a butthole.

I am always so lost here, unless I am replying real time. If I see a quoted comment that I know I didn't respond to myself... I'm like.. where the eff is it? And I have to go back and look... forward and look... But.. yeah.. the trade-off is conversations, jokes, cheeks, and such, so I'll take it.

There are sections of every state that are "flat" even Western Kentucky, Tennessee, Eastern Missouri, Southern Indiana, etc all would fit. Georgia, Mississippi, Northern Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico... I wouldn't worry about it too much. There's no mention of oceans anywhere near them, so... food for thought.

I hate that I looked a every new page that I came to just to see if you managed to be the first post on that page. Of course I was thinking... if he keeps this streak up, they'll be no living with him. If that helps.

If I ever get around to writing Ellis, I did specify that it is written in Oklahoma. Thought you'd like to know. But I doubt I'll ever get around to it. So, probably a good thing.

He's tried. I do notice. And it gets him punished.

I talk about his butt all the time, to him. So. He'll probably just roll his eyes and say something like... "I know, she can't help it..."

Pulling a @Jeff Burton and quoting myself. The real reason why I don't disclose a real place, state, county, or part of the country, is because the writing never puts a ton of weight into it. The story reads as a small town setting, with agriculture, football, and high school shenanigans, and small empty towns that doesn't provide a lot to teenagers wanting to get up to shenanigans. There isn't a lot in the way that provides information that would narrow anything down, so I just don't feel pressed to supply information that never will add a ton of weight to the story. For example if I were to say they lived in a little out of the way ranching town in Texas, that forces me to write in that world. It differs dramatically from the landscape, society, preconceived ideas about the state, and pigeonholes information and views to be pressed one way. If the story is not about living in modern rural Texas, why would I put the effort and words into something that doesn't require it? That's just my thinking, I know some people may need that breadcrumb to form a whole picture... but I don't see Fletcher County anywhere specific. It can be anywhere that has a Fletcher County with the broad brush stroke limitations I provided, but not really, since it is entirely fictional. Unless you just luckily Google "Fletcher County Warhawks" and find a high school and their school colors happened to be Maroon and Gold. Then you google the counties within the same state and one is Johnston County and a regional/district neighboring county... etc. It would be interesting if that were to come up anywhere... but if it were to come up in Rural northern California and not Montana, then that has changed your minds for no reason.

If someone was to e-mail you, would you be willing to cater for/cook for your own intervention? That way you can have fun whilst you work. Lot's of fun, likely. Probably.

And here I thought we were safe in 2026.

and no, no prizes.

I chose the counties that I did, because I looked up the most used County names in states throughout the country. I rarely exactly name the state where the characters reside. At least in the posted works. North Carolina isn't really known for their beef industry though, I'm sure there are some larger production farms there, but I also wouldn't call North Carolina flat either. Those are pretty much the only hints I've provided. If I was bribed into an answer, I always thought more mid-west where the land starts to flatten out, but not a true mid-west like Montana, Nebraska, Dakotas, etc. So one of those boring, corn and cow heavy states...

He has his rare moments of helpfulness... rare as they are.

Sigh... Sigh... And to be honest, if even more sections of this chapter doesn't get deleted/trimmed down I'll be surprised.

A dude with a good butt is always good. I agree.
