  1. Just for some perspective we can all relate to: Have a good day everyone!
  2. Having siblings is a double edge sword. It doesn't matter what the subject is. You're damned if you do, you're damned if you don't. Your relationship is what it is. It's yours. Its SP's. It's NOT your brother or SIL's. You get to live it it how you decide to. Be happy, you deserve it Fae.
  3. Heat lasted all of three hours. Once the house got to 70 off it went. Changed from sweatshirt to t-shirt and socks came off. It was 56 when I went out to bring my son to work. Flip flop weather. 😆 Zeke is curled up on his chair and Camden is curled up on the footrest of my recliner. His head is keeping my ankle warm. Gonna be another lazy day.
  4. Good morning everyone. I caved. The house was 64 this morning. Heat went on. It should just be for today. Temps are going back up into the 70s for the rest of the week. Then another cool down on New Year's Day. This is my favorite time of year in Florida. Have a good day!
  5. Good morning everyone! Happy Boxing Day for those who celebrate. I'm happy that I was wrong about the weather for Xmas. We enjoyed temps in the upper 50s F (mid teens C). Woke up this morning to 37F (3C). It's a nice change even though having tile floors necessitates wearing socks and/or slippers. One more week to 2020 and then we can kiss that bastard goodbye. Something to look forward to. Have a good day!
  6. I know I said that it wasn't about the presents.....but omfg....my son got me a foot massager that you stick your feet in and it squeezes and kneads them....I think I found my permanent happy place! Enjoy the rest of the day!
  7. It's not about the presents and all the "stuff" that goes along with the day. Its about love. Husband, wife, children, parents, siblings, aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins, boyfriend, girlfriend and just plain friends. Love doesn't discriminate. It never has. Merry Christmas everyone 🎄 Happy Birthday tim! 🥳
  8. Well, work is done. Off for the next 5 days. I got home and wrapped presents with minimal swearing. I think the hardest part about getting ready for Christmas is remembering where the hell you hid stuff 🤷‍♀️. Two gift cards are MIA, but they'll show up. I hope. The best part of all is my older boy just walked through the door ❤❤ Enjoy your Christmas Eve everyone!
  9. OMG... I haven't heard that song in years...and yes I sang it in my head as I was reading it! Many of the stores around here ask if you would like to round up your purchase to benefit whatever charity they support. I usually do that all year long. Over the course of a year it adds up but it's worth it.
  10. And the jowls stretch out like a balloon!
  11. Sounds delicious. I like molasses cookies. I haven't made cookies from scratch in a long time... I did get apples to make a pie. I'm out of Fireball though so I'll have to sacrifice the cinnamon whiskey that came in the gift pack my boss gave me. I also have a confession I need absolution for. I stopped at the Amish grocery on the way home and blew my Christmas dinner budget all the way into next Christmas. Oops. Good luck with your brother and sil.
  12. And whenever you need a boost you know where to look...this wonderful, sometimes goofy group has your back as well as each other's. 🤪 My favorite scene from Finding Nemo is when Darla is banging on the tank and Peach (the starfish) keeps repeating "find a happy place! find a happy place! find a happy place!" We all have that inner happy place. Some days it's easier to find than others.
  13. Both of these ring so true. The older I get the more I realize that my happiness is solely dependant on me making the best out of how I react to what goes on around me. I finally sent a text to my brother down here asking if he wanted me to take mom for a few days. He texted back one word. "No". He's still pissed at me and I really don't give a damn. He bitches about me to our other brother (who agrees with me) and doesn't get why it's really not a good idea to have mom out and about right now. I swear he wasn't this stupid when we were younger. So for the first time in my life I won't be able to share Christmas with my mom. Her dementia has gotten to the point where holding a conversation is almost impossible. But I'll call her anyway. Its a blow to my happiness, which I'll counter by remembering how she used to be and those memories will make me happy.
  14. I had a 4am wake up call from the dog. One loud bark. Just so he could go out. Of course I never really fell back asleep. Hope everyone has a good day!
  15. That's good news Wayne. I'm hoping that the county will be able to go ahead with their plan for phase 2 distribution. After the front line workers get vaccinated and they have enough supply the high risk group is next. When we set up testing at our community the county director told us they would do the same for the vaccine distribution. It would be great if we could set them up to come out and vaccinate our two communities. We just have to be patient and keep up our precautions in the meantime. It'll be worth it.
  16. My maintenance guys at work tease me and call me a Pez dispenser when I start writing out work orders. Apparently they're right. I just closed out 23 and there's still 8 open. That's just from the past two weeks. I tell them it's job security 😆
  17. I'm glad you both are doing ok Chris. My boss's son is supposed to be flying from Orlando to Scotland today (Inverness, I think). His wife and 2 boys have been there since Feb. He was waiting on a work visa when Covid hit. He will most likely get there, but who knows if he'll be able to come back, he's scheduled to return in two weeks. He's quarrantining the whole time he's there. Take care Chris!
  18. Look after yourself too. Looks like y'all are sending some of your cold air my way for Christmas. It may actually feel more Christmassy this year.
  19. Enjoy your time off and take care of each other. xo
  20. Good morning all! Quiet day today doing a whole lot of not much. Hubby's asthma has been kicking his ass this week. Seriously, if you smoke, please stop. Everytime he runs across someone smoking it triggers his breathing problems. Every. Damn. Day. Anyway...have a good day everyone.
  21. I too, would love some trifle. My trifle bowl got lost somehow when we moved. I grew up one town over from where Dr. Suess did. Mulberry Street was within walking distance from my Grandma's house. Springfield has a memorial to him with bronze statues of many of his characters. I had pictures of my boys when they were little standing next to him with the Cat in the Hat behind them. Unfortunately the pictures were never backed up and I lost them when that phone died. I took care of his cousin when I worked in a nursing home way back in the day. She was a salty old gal. You can Google 'Dr. Suess Memorial' to see pictures. They're pretty cool.
  22. Sounds delightful! I've got the cozy blanket, hot coffee and cuddly dogs, but luckily no thunderstorms. Sunny, but cool today. Enjoy your day everyone!
  23. I don't have a sister, but I'm lucky enough to have someone in my life who I have a lifelong tie with. When you've known someone your whole life, and your childhood was pitted with fights that would eclipse any sibling rivalry, and you can live 1500 miles apart, see each other maybe once a year, and when you do get together and instantly turn 13 again you've earned the right to call each other sister. Those connections are priceless.❤
