  1. "The carpet matched the drapes." Typical of you Carlos to throw in a one-liner that makes the dialog perfect -- a real sense of humor, where in your life does it come from? Ancestry or contemporaneous living? Whatever it is a cherry on top of the sundae of your creative writing. I think the 'fathers' are dealing with CJ's ongoing maturity in the best possible way. They are developing here a young man who is going to go far in the world. Excellent writing, as usual Carlos, now on to the meeting with the Chief in Arlington. "

    Human Touch

I am sure this was a difficult chapter to write, Carlos. An author puts so much of himself into his writing, a tragic chapter such as this one requires you participation in every sad moment. I will look forward to the twists you are so good at putting into your writing.
  3. Really, Last Rites, for a bullet in the leg. Be serious. Now, who could these people really be? Let's read on and see.
  4. The immediate reaction of three different people in important positions might not upset the Arlington Police Chief too much as he has probably heard shit from big wheels before, but to get all three phone calls in the space of a few minutes might alert him to a small problem, especially because he has had a similar problem with these same cops before. This means that he has failed to take care of similar situations in the past.
  5. We meet Harley. I love that motor-mouth. H will be a great friend for CJ because CJ has a tendency to clam up, from embarrassment I guess. I cannot see a person like Harley ever embarrassed enough to be speechless. I think there is going to be at least one over-zealous cop who will be looking for a new job when some people find out about the entrapment, and CJ is going to be a real hit at Walls. I'm looking forward to starting Autumn at any time you are ready.

    Crush on You

The credit that Summer is so well written for a first publishing effort is given to Mann. That is an unusual move for an author. But I have said it elsewhere: an author's job is creativity and the editors' job is to make the work flow. Also mentioned was that the number of corrections that Mann suggested in each chapter was decreasing -- that is a symptom of learning on the part of a new author. Those suggestions will probably never disappear altogether, but they should continue to diminish. The appreciation expressed here by the author is a positive symptom of two minds that are working together to develop a near-perfect product. Keep up the good work, men. As a reader, I appreciate both efforts.

    No Surrender

I, too, love the pillow talk between the fathers, it just ties up each chapter with a pink ribbon, good show. I am sure little bro did NOT get the full story about why CJ left Miami. I cannot see the step coming totally clean with him -- he is so homophobic, however, it is going to be that homophobia that will turn little bro toward CJ and most assuredly will go contrary to the creep's wishes. Your authorship in Summer is far better than you give yourself credit for. It is an enjoyable story and if a few grammatical errors creep in from time to time, so what! It is supposed to be the job of the editor to weed those out. The humor in these chapters is a great stress reliever and is the symptom of a creative mind. I am enjoying this second reading of the series just as much as I did the first. The large size of the cast is a little confusing, but it will work itself out as we readers get to know them better. Go for it!
  8. I have old man suspicions about Chip and the ginger. I think there is more there than an undercover sexual relationship. Well, we will read on and see.

    Magic

Beware of a good reporter on a quest -- they frequently get the story they are looking for.
  10. The coldness between Doc and Chip has not risen to the point of no return as yet -- sometimes a conversation is all that is required to put out the fires of indecision and envy, let's hope they are able to work out their problems. I feel that CJ is just beginning to show an attitude that implies his mature stance toward imperfect actions by others. He is going to use the strength he is now developing whenever he sees the sort of situation that the kid was in -- he will become an advocate for the underdog. Call this last chapter a 'cliffie' or not, you are an excellent author and tell a fascinating tale.
  11. I have been subjected to some strange things on pizza, but the only thing I have had trouble with was bananas! Ugh. Living as I now do in Brazil there is fresh fruit available all the time. Other than bananas on pizza, the only thing I have found to object to is avocado -- I know fruit purists will ostracize me for that. I think my problem stems from my teenage years when my mother went totally ape for avocado while we were living in Florida. I guess I just got sick of them. I go ape on different fruits at breakfast time, banana, pineapple, apples, papaya, and melons are part of my plate every day. I am not too concerned about CJ not having friends his own age at this point in his life, I am sure that will change when he goes to school, and I know that will not happen until the part of the story in Autumn. I like the idea of him giving a beer to his guest but having a soft drink for himself. I a not a T-total, but I do not encourage drinking especially among young people; I have seen too many lives ruined by excessive drinking and fifteen is too young to be sensible about it. Does that make me an old fogey, OK I can live with that.

    Glory Days

Kids like CJ who receive good parental support are a great deal more resilient than many adults recognize. I see nothing wrong with the banter going back and forth with CJ.
  13. The number of comments, most of them good you are getting on your story is a symptom of the interest there is in it out here in reader land keep up the good work, it is a real pleasure to read a well-written tale.
  14. apologies for the religious rant in comments on the last chapter, but I believe there are three main causes for the majority of the wars in the world: Religious intolerance, racial intolerance, and financial inequality. Listed in order of importance. But having said that, I will no fold my tent and steal silently away on that subject. I am extremely pleased with my re-reading of this series, I am discovering many small points that I missed the first time so am enjoying this reading very much. it is great being able to go through chapter after chapter in quick succession. Many of the points I missed and some of the humor with the first reading are clarified this time through.
  15. I did a google on Zimbabwe's attitude toward homosexuality these six years later than the original story posting. Still bad, bad, bad. That is one of the several countries in the world that has not progressed at all. Most of the retrograde countries are Muslim, but there are a few Christians among the hidebound. Some of which are receiving financial and military support from the USA. Ugh! I did find that many historians believe A. Lincoln walked on our side of the river; that is the first time I heard of that, but okay, I know it's been going on under the covers - pun - since the last Ice Age. I still like the ancient Greek attitude -- eh, so what!
  16. This is the second time I have started this series, I intend to stick with it this time. So fat the characterizations and the pace are excellent. One comment that others have not made: Throwing a child out of his home because of his sexual orientation is frequently a religious thing. Certain evangelical sects seemingly read only Leviticus in their Bibles and skip the New Testament altogether. They get stuck on a man not sleeping with another man as with a woman and forget two facts; a man. even according to religious philosophy is created in the image of God and, if God is perfect, He does not make errors in his creations, therefore what a man may be must be perfect as well. The other portion of the gospel they skip over is that the savior, Jesus was enamored of one of his disciples, the young John I believe if my memory serves me at my advanced age, he never married, which was unheard of in the Jewish community of the time, so the inference was that he was gay as well. God does not hate gays -- He made them that way and sent his son to guide them too. If you are going to hit someone over the head with the Bible, use the whole book, not just cherry-pick parts of it. So, if a child is gay there will not be a continuation of the family genes, but there are millions of orphaned children out there who need a parent. Use your love for them as well. End of rant!

    Chapter 10

This relationship is getting to be really complex. When normally one says 'polyamorous' that means one person being able to love two others. Here we are faced with three or perhaps eventually four beings, none of whom is really a human person all being in love with one another. Talk about complicated -- wow. Moreover, they each seem to need the other three to become complete. When we have all four in one relationship, what sort of a powerhouse has been constructed?

    Chapter 7

This is the second time I have read a deflowering today and each minute was better than the last. Hell, you are, according to your profile 32-year-old female and bi-sexual, that would mean that whether it was by male or female, it is a number of years since your own, shall we be non-sexist and say 'defloration'. You must have perfect recall as you describe the sensations so well, Congratulations on a beautifully written chapter.

    Chapter 5

As usual, your writing leaves me with two minds -- pleased that Guy wants to help Mick as best he can, but concerned about ending up hurting him by going to the meds or to the police. Guy, just love him, hold him and be kind just as you have been, He will be alright in the end.

    Chapter 4

Pretend I don't know hardly anything -- `sorry, this is a double negative, To make it work, just leave out the 'hard' or the 'don't'. "Pretend I don't know anything," or "Pretend I know hardly anything." That is the teacher background oozing around the edges in me, Robin. Not being mean, just trying to be helpful. I think to be an 'empath' and a dentist would be really hard on a man. Does the pack permit Guy's latitude with telling his background because Mick is an empath or because he is a dentist? It would be very useful for the pack to have either on call. I did not know that wolves had trouble with impacted molars, that would be a real problem for a wild wolf, or does that happen with weres only? I love Mick's snarky attitude. His sense of humor makes for a lot of laughter in the reader. A-plus authorship Robin. I am enjoying every chapter.

    Chapter 3

I think our dentist is a 'sadist', not a 'masochist'. Cutting Guy off is sadistic, that wolf is so horny! But both boys got a protein shake at least.

    Chapter 2

hand over the reigns -- hand over the reins. The straps used to direct a ridden horse are reins. I am a troll I know, but one of my bug-a-boos is a homophone. That is a word that in English sounds like another word but is the incorrect word to use in a given place. They are extremely difficult for readers or authors to spot, but an editor should see them right away. Tch. tch. In reference to the Ibuprofen opening incident, google 'the Tylenol scare', it will make the author's use of a package of pain killers that is hard to open, clear. Yes, the 'Fuck -- I'm trying!" line is a real winner as other commenters have noted, but it only one of several throw-away lines in the chapter. Mick has a great sense of humor. Maybe because of his smaller stature that has been a defense mechanism in his life, but 5'8" is not terribly small. Excellent characterization and a sweet storyline -- sweet in the sense of good, especially interesting to mix an empath with werewolves.

    Chapter 1

Excellent start to a story that promises to be fascinating, congratulations. I notice that several of the comments were posted a number of years ago. I don't know whether the author is still following the comments of her audience, but I will make comments, not every chapter, but from time-to-time unless I find out she is no longer watching. So, on to the next chapter...

    Chapter 15

Yeppers, the mugging was too plain and the location fixed to be real. I don't think Will will be ashamed of his part in helping Oskar get back his estates, but I do think it will be the end of the affair.

    Chapter 14

I believe Will will be alright as long as he has Prinz'support, but if that gets lost......
