Thank you for the complimentary comment, my friend. I hope you are feeling much better. I will be taking a short break before picking up the pen again, but the epilogue to this story will be posted next week. There are many stories still to be told about the characters from The New Boot and The Old Shoe Factory, I don't know yet who's story will be told I'm waiting for one of them to talk to me. I promise I'll keep you informed. If anyone wants to be kept informed about new stories either follow me as an author or follow the link below to The Boot World forum and you will know as soon as any news is available.

I'm glad that you found the story so emotionally touching. It's always great to hear that a story has resonated with someone on a deep level. Harry and the boys certainly make a loving family, and I'm glad that their journey touched you in such a positive way. To receive comments like this from an author of your standing and calibre is a great compliment. Thank you for commenting and sharing your thoughts with me, I appreciate your support.

I'm making notes for the epilogue. I want it to flow properly from the chapter posted on Tuesday.

Chapter 23 In the Bright Light of Day
Mancunian commented on Headstall's story chapter in Chapter 23 In the Bright Light of Day
I hope Billy's dad isn't that bigotted idiot who tried to question Jubal outside the store. -
Hi Terry hows things

All is good here, I hope you and Aod are recovering from all of your celebrating.

Aloha Albert, how are you and Steve today?

Sometimes personal experience is the best inspiration, in this instance, it has also brought me to what I feel is a good decision.

We don't know why but 'Mitch's' guitar had been left at the shelter that night. It had been bought for him by my dad and after the tragic events the shelter gave it back to my dad. It has been kept safe since then and I still have it now, it is the guitar I described in The Busker. I was looking at it when I wrote the scene in this story where Harry gives his son's guitar to Michael, it was the inspiration for that scene. Since writing it I have decided that I don't want it to continue gathering dust, I have decided that if I meet, or hear of, someone who it could make a difference to, it will be given to them, it must not be wasted.

Thank you for commenting. That you think the ending is perfect is a great compliment that leaves me feeling all tingly.

I love the song and agree with you, it does describe Max and Stacy, and their home perfectly. Thank you for the suggestion.

I knew you were a kinky slave-driver, lol.

The stories in The Boot and Lost Soul Series are fictional stories based on Issues that I know homeless people face. The Busker is more than that, it is the only story that is loosely based on fact. The real 'Mitch', that is not his real name, lost his life in September almost nine years ago after being lured into a back street and stabbed. That happened days before he was due in rehab for help with his problems.

I could not put this better, what comes from the heart is priceless.

Thank you for your comments @Backwoods Boy, they mean a lot to me coming from an author that admire and respect. Thank you for your continued support.

I can only think that Harry was scared of rejection, but this intergenerational friendship is stronger than even he had hoped. It is a friendship with so many benefits for both sides that there are almost too many to list. Although there was no scene to depict it, Harry had given the lads keys early on in the story. The symbolism of the chains, which you rightly picked up, and Harry's declaration that they are 'his boys' are a testament to his feelings for them. It is my pleasure to bring this story to you, it has been done with the dedication and support of @raven1 and I am grateful for his hard work. Thank you for your comments and support, it is appreciated.

Thank you for the complimentary comments Chris, they are appreciated by @raven1 and myself. Max's actions show the ripple effect that can happen when you give help, many others often benefit too. Thank you for your support throughout the story.

Thank you for these comments, Lee, it makes it all the more worthwhile when I hear that the characters feel real and have a life. It may be the end of the story but it isn't the end of the series, there will be more stories to come. I must give fair warning though that it may spark your allergies again and not all stories of homelessness have a happy ending, some 'not so happy' stories are demanding to be told. Take it easy and pace yourself with your writing, all of our readers prefer quality over quantity and we are looking forward to reading more of your stories too. The epilogue will be coming soon, then I'll be taking a short break before writing more.

These allergies do seem to be affecting a lot of people, . As you rightly point out, generosity comes from the heart not just the pocket. I've often found that those who give the most are those with the least, which is very humbling. Michael's gift to the guests was a gift from his heart, this is what makes it so valuable. There will be news about Harry's beloved Mini in the epilogue, I hope you will like it. Thank you for your comments and support Doc, they are appreciated.

Thank you for your wonderful comments @akascrubber, it means a lot to me to know that the story has been enjoyed by so many. The story shows what can be achieved when people come together and how much joy it can bring. When good things happen it often has a way of causing more good things to happen. Harry would not have his new 'family' if Max had not helped Charlie and Michael. By helping two people Max and his family have affected many others and all for the good.

Thank you for commenting @JohnnyC, I'm happy that you enjoyed the story. It has been a pleasure to write this story and to work with @raven1 to bring the story to you. I wish you a happy New Year that is full of joy and love.

Thank you for the @drown, it is heartening to know that this, the original Boot story is still being read and enjoyed. I am sure you will be happy to know that many of the characters feature in other stories from The Boot World. I hope you enjoy more of the stories and comment on those too. 😄

I'm happy that you enjoyed the story, there will be more to come later in the year. A happy New Year to you too, I wish you all the best for the New Year.

Like yourself, I cannot comment on their motives or what they get out of it. But I welcome their generosity nonetheless. Anyone who gives freely to charitable causes is helping to alleviate some of the problems of the world.
