I'm learning something. I'd never heard that saying but it's a good one My French teacher at school used to use it in class, whenever one of us would deny being involved in whatever our latest bit of mischief might have been. He said it translates to "He who excuses himself, accuses himself." Of course, it could also mean "She who excuses herself, accuses herself." (But I went to an all boys school.)

What's that French expression again, clo...? Qui s'excuse, s'accuse ... if I remember my school French correctly. (Hopefully my French is a little better than Val's Latin, and I haven't just called down a plague of locusts on us all.)

She posted in here yesterday. Mentioned something about some sleep study thing she was to be involved with last night. Maybe she hasn't woken up yet? Although she was on the GA site 8 hours ago. Could even be she's busy with the Fall Anthology, whose submissions ended at midnight on the last day of November... I understand she has some role on the site to do with the Anthologies.

Okay... So here's my week 36 offering in my challenge to take and unload a new monochrome photograph every week for 52 weeks: It's the concrete steps leading from my lower garden to my upper one (on the left), and also to the upper story of the old two-story stone cottage in my garden (on the right). (Just out of interest, that window in the old cottage, that I used for last week's photograph, is about 4ft 6in (1.4 metres) to the right of this one.)
