  1. Sounds very like our usual weather, over here, clo.
  2. Schools here have been closed since before Christmas. Latest announcement is that they won't reopen before 5th March, at the earliest.
  3. Did you say that there was to be an announcement about possible increased restrictions to be imposed in France?
  4. And I'd say the resort is probably only upset about the fact that they'll not get the usual number of visitors, due to worries over the pandemic.
  5. 3 inches of snow is more than we usually get in a whole winter here.
  6. All good, thanks! I trust all's well with you and Steve? The pair of you out tobogganing today? Or maybe just having snowball fights with the neighbours?
  7. Happy Friday to you as well, clo! Well, that's handy! So my prayers last night to the Great Cod in the Sea worked, I see. The rain moved southwards to France. I am, indeed! About to head out into the garden (since the weather is dry).
  8. Greetings, young Albert!
  9. I think that's the second time you've said you are having trouble importing YouTube links... And I think both myself and someone else (@clochette?) said the first time that all you need to do is to copy the YouTube link, and paste it directly into your reply. If that's what you are doing, and it isn't working, I'm not sure what can be wrong... I have read that some YouTube links may be (designed to be?) non-embeddable, but if you were trying to embed the same video link I successfully shared, I fail to understand why it wouldn't embed for you. Just a thought... you are simply pasting the link directly into the text editor, I assume. What I mean is you are not clicking on the "Link" button at the top of the editor to add the link? If you use the Link button, the YouTube link will simply appear as a clickable link, rather than rendering into displaying the actual video in your reply. So just paste the link directly into the text area of your reply, and it should display correctly... ************* Hope this helps. If not, maybe pose a question in the Help Forum. Here's one about YouTube videos from a few years ago:
  10. So it's coming up to 1:00am (again) here, and I reckon I should once again fool myself by hoping that sleep shall bring back my beauty. Good night, friends! And, talking of foolishness, I'm going to leave you all tonight with this latest piece of Tomfoolery:
  11. Mine was steamed potatoes, swede, and carrots from the garden, covered with finely grated vintage cheddar cheese, and a side dish of sardines and salad. For dessert I had a slice of homemade banana loaf. Similar to what dughlas says, a dish of mainly root vegetables seems just right for this time of the year.
  12. Sorry to hear that, sweetie. Hope you feel better soon. What Page said.
  13. Truth be told, I don't think he's ever seen it. He lives about 8 miles away and hasn't visited the place in years, as far as I know. The property was the local old folks home until about ten years back, when a new state of the art one was built (it's actually the large building that can be seen beyond the large stone wall at the end of my upper garden). The guy who bought the original old folks home is a builder. No more than the garden, it's been neglected since he bought it. I think he sees it as an investment opportunity, and is simply waiting for the property market to improve (after the economic downturn of 2008) before he will do it up to sell at a profit. There are actually a number of empty properties on the main street in my village.
  14. I see @Timothy M. can be a bit like me sometimes... Claiming to be "going to bed soon", and still reading the comments in CoTT forty minutes or more later...
  15. Thought you might be interested in seeing what my boundary wall looks like from the neighbour's garden.... For reference, the ladder is positioned near the centre of the shed whose gable wall partially collapsed last week. (And I reckon that the next time I see my neighbour I should maybe be looking for payment from him for all the work I've done in his garden )
  16. Greetings, young fellow!
  17. Sweet dreams!
  18. I spy @Timothy M. Hi, Tim!!!
  19. So that's how they managed to find you.

    Arrival

You're more than welcome to keep the snow, Albert! Because we normally get so very little of it here in the northwest of Ireland, when it does come we are just not prepared for it.
  21. And now we're actually on page 2093.

Thanks for the comment, Val. Although, I think that what you are really saying is that it sound only very slightly similar to where you live...

    Arrival

Cheers, Gary! Although, I often think we get just a little bit more than our fair share of rain in this part of Ireland... If I could, I'd gladly send some of it your way. Although @Albert1434 might be more in need of it...
  24. Well, between the rain showers (and during them at times) I managed to get a few hours work done on clearing the overgrowth from the two old sheds today. The first real chance I have had since the snow put a temporary halt to the work last weekend. Most of the work was done from the neighbour's side of the boundary wall, but here's a photo that I took from my side just as it was coming on dark this evening: As you can see, the vast bulk of the overgrowth has now been cut away. But what's left is still going to be difficult to remove, largely because there's a mat, maybe a centimetre or two (half to one inch) thick of decayed leaves, etc, formed on top of the wall, that the ivy has sent aerial roots into, and some of the thinner branches are embedded in. I'm having to cut all of that away, inch by inch in places. But I still reckon one more good day's work (or possibly two) should see everything finally removed.
