  1. Don't be sorry. I guess it's a matter of trading our willingness to stand tall alone, or a little smaller surrounded by those who love but don't quite understand - not yet. But if given time, maybe they will. How does a person make such a choice? There's a cost, no matter which way you go. Honestly, I'm glad you didn't have to. I have no doubt you could have, but ... yeah. What a world if none of us had to.
  2. I understand, Fae. We walk a line with such family. We want to avoid upsetting them, avoid causing a fuss. We try to make it so we are not a "thing". So that we can just be, like anybody else. But it's so hard when they won't let us. When we are, by default "different". So, I'll ask. Are you getting a place together - someplace new you will both share?
  3. Testing is hugely important. I spent a huge effort to make that happen for us, and it's nice to have it in place. I'm glad your county is ready. The funny thing is, all those naysayer political types seem to be the first in line for the vaccine. We're also seeing the rich attempt to buy a place ahead of everyone else through "generous donations" to hospitals and organizations. Our governor has made it brutally clear that he will cite and punish any institution which succumbs to this temptation. And anybody with an ounce of morality wouldn't need that negative reinforcement anyway. It'll all work out, but it will take time.
  4. Thanks, tim. I hope for that very thing too. I really do think it'll be somewhat soon.
  5. I saw @Starrynight22's good news on the vaccination. I'm glad you got it! We're still waiting on our allocation, but I knew that would be the case - we're outpatient care, and so rank lower on the totem pole in terms of most at risk. But still, it is coming.
  6. Thanks, Parker. I'd say more ... but I'm tapped out right now. Just, thank you for reading and commenting. I appreciate it.
  7. Hide in mind, Theater calm, Brace for war, There is no balm. Winds they blow, The trees they bow, "But I wont," My foolish vow. And I go, Wrapped in armor, All I want, The calm harbor. But I go. Wrapped in armor.
  8. Ah, Starry ... I'm sorry. I'm tired and I can do most of my work at home, only venturing out here and there to handle things in person that can't be done over Zoom. Thank you. Thank you for working, trying, caring. Thank you for getting up, for going to work, for delivering care and love where it's needed most. Thank you.
  9. Beta readers can help here. Good questions concerning the story, and possible avenues you didn't anticipate are both possible. I know that can help me.
  10. I have decided English and its 150,000 words doesn't have enough of them. Poetificy: Verb. The act of honoring a person, place, thing, or idea with a poem. Example: "This flower is amazing." Stands in awe a moment. "I shall POETIFICY it!" Also ... possibly related, wine out of a can is still effective.
  11. You know, Silverwolf was a drunken writing ... lol We both deserve a good weekend. I do think I'm gonna write a bit. I want to, so we'll see.
  12. DONE! All our COVID-19 machines are up, running, and ready. WOOT! I'm gonna have a good weekend now. lol How's everybody else's Friday going? You know how mine is, so ... let me know!
  13. Well, things went wonky. Two of the labs didn't have the appropriate infrastructure required for the hook ups, so I only got one handled today. Though, now I know what is needed for the other two, and I'm working with our IT department on making it happen tomorrow or early next week. But ... the goal always was to have a testing option available to exposed healthcare workers within ten minutes of any of our clinics. That has been achieved. So I guess that's a little win. I hope everybody is doing well.
  14. Howdy, DiC. I hope everybody is doing well. I'm almost through a crazy implementation of eleven COVID testing machines. Eight done, three more to go. To do it, I've had to learn some basic IT stuff, because these things are run by computers and all need hardwired internet connections, drivers from the company's website, installing various things onto each machine, and then there's finally the stuff I'm qualified to do - testing to make sure they actually work as intended. Anyway ... the hope is they are done after tomorrow is over. That's the goal. So long as nothing goes seriously wonky then it'll happen. On that happy note, I must get to bed. See you lot tomorrow! Goodnight. 🙂
  15. Congratulations, Fae! Enjoy this new chapter, and all it brings.
  16. Good morning, all. Things have been tough for all of us, and it's hard to find the motivation to write. I've got a few of my long-time readers emailing, asking if I'm okay, asking when the next story will be ... I've been trying to motivate to do an outline for the nineteenth chapter of the collective project by tim and I. But it's hard. My brain wants to completely disengage after I finish work, and while I find joy in writing, it's still a heavy mental process. So instead of writing I chain-watch people building log cabins on YouTube with hand tools. Anyway, I'll figure out a way. Somehow, someway, I'll get back to it.
  17. Good morning. It's coffee time here in California. I hope it's a great day for you all.
  18. My husband uses it in his bloody mary mix. Admittedly, he makes a mean and delicious bloody mary.
  19. It's a fast way to get electrolytes into your system. All those nice salts help. It's almost like drinking Gatorade.
  20. I have sooooo many other things vying for my attention right now. And my priority is the story @Mikiesboy and I are writing. I think we may have wrapped up chapter eighteen this morning. It's there for us to think about and maybe tinker on later. Regardless, we need to get nineteen started. There's so much more to go.
  21. Wow. I've always loved this song, but knowing why he wrote it makes it sooo much more powerful. https://youtu.be/ftXoJkL8msw Anyway ... good morning, folks.
  22. Both are good choices for your first one. My tattoo guy has told me he's "reserving" my ribcage. Apparently he has something in mind for me? I trust him, and he knows my taste. So when the time comes, I'll lay on the table and let him do what he wants. Okay ... I didn't mean that like it sounded. This time.
  23. It still is very vibrant. Plus ... my tattooist is a fan of touch ups. I get one free one (I'll still tip him, because he's awesome). It's about a year old now, and yeah, the fur has grown in. But it's a bear. So ... it looks natural. lol
  24. You could do it easily. The one on my chest stung. There's bone involved there, and that is not comfy. I had to do a little "put the pain in a box" exercise with that one. But the thigh? Nah. It's all muscle. There are no nerves running through the middle of muscles, so all you feel is what the skin has. I didn't need a single break for Rainbear (though my tattooist did!). Pick out something small, personal, meaningful. And get it somewhere meaty. You'll do fine.
