Canuk, You are right in that Nash represents a lot of gay men who are caught between their love of God and the public hateful rhetoric about gay people by organized religion. It is a very real tension in today's world and as he comes out he will try to straddle that divide. He knows that it will divide the love he has for his family. He will try to build a "logical family," as Armistead Maupin has coined the construct, with Erick and Todd. He will also meet Jan Chamblee, a yet to be introduced character, and will form a strong friendship. Thank you for reading. Mac

Nash is a really nice guy. He is young, naive and doesn't understand boundaries. He makes me think of a puppy who is boundless in energy and unconditional love. Mac
  4. Wednesday, December 11 The Light of Love How good it is to sing praises to our God, how pleasant and fitting to praise him! The Lord builds up Jerusalem; he gathers the exiles of Israel. He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. Psalm 147 “Erick, get me the box of salt, please. This soup needs some spicing up. Also, grab the container of thyme.” Todd was in full cook mode. Todd had found a chef’s hat and was enjoying playing the television style
  5. Tuesday, December 10 The Light of Love Be exalted, O Lord, in your strength! We will sing and praise your power. Psalm 21: 13 "Come on, come on. You can do it.” Todd was standing on the pool deck with a stopwatch. He had decided that they would time each other to best their own records rather than compete against each other. Todd had helped Tayloe train when they were in high school and knew what to do. Plus, he was a much stronger swimmer than Erick and it was u
  6. Monday, Advent 9 The Light of Love Now about your love for one another we do not need to write to you, for you yourselves have been taught by God to love each other. Thessalonians 4 Todd stretched when he awoke on Monday morning. It was the last week of classes and he could not have been happier. He leaned over and kissed Erick who started smiling when their lips met. “Good morning, lover of mine.” “Good morning, my wonderful man.” They cuddled

  8. Sunday, December 8 The Second Sunday in Advent The Light of Love Endow the king with your justice, O God, the royal son with your righteousness. May he judge your people in righteousness, your afflicted ones with justice. May the mountains bring prosperity to the people, the hills the fruit of righteousness. May he defend the afflicted among the people and save the children of the needy; may he crush the oppressor. May he endure as long as the sun, as lo

Long1jo, I have been in an interfaith relationship in the past and it was tremendously fulfilling. I have always been very religious and hope that the story shows that being gay does not preclude us from having a relationship with God(s). Thanks for writing. Mac

Mfa, Thanks. They are genuinely good guys. Todd is a charge ahead kind of guy while Erick is more cerebral and needs to think things through. Perfect match. Plus, they think each other is hot as hell! Enjoy the story as they go through the joys as well as the trials and travails of the holidays. Mac

Thank you very much. It was a pleasure to write Erick and Todd's story. They are great guys. Mac
  13. Saturday, December 7 The Light of Hope Comfort, comfort my people, says your God. Speak tenderly to Jerusalem, and proclaim to her that her hard service has been completed, that her sin has been paid for, that she has received from the Lord’s hand double for all her sins. Isaiah 40 Erick was dumbfounded when Todd told him about the dinner. They dissected every sentence, every inflection, every concern. Todd said he would reach out to Tayloe to ask him what was happ
  14. Friday, December 6 The Light of Hope As John was completing his work, he said, “Who do you suppose I am? I am not the one you are looking for. But there is one coming after me whose sandals I am not worthy to untie.” Acts 13: 25 Erick was about to leave the apartment when the telephone rang. He hesitated because he was running late. Todd had left earlier to attend his weekly study group. The group consisted of math majors who met at a diner and revie
  15. Thursday, December 5 The Light of Hope Seek justice, rescue the oppressed Defend the orphan, plead for the widow. Isaiah 1:17 Todd was about to pop the last bite of buttered toast into his mouth when the inevitable question came. “Is your brother gay?” “Not that I know of.” “Was he playing my brother last night?” “Not that I know of.” “What the hell was that behavior about?” They just looked at each other. “I don’t want my brother to b
  16. Wednesday, December 4 The Light of Hope For false Christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect. See, I have told you beforehand. The Gospel of Matthew 24 “I don’t wanna get up.” Todd snuggled further under the covers. “Well, you are going to get up whether you want to or not. Get that gorgeous hairy butt out of bed and fix your lover some breakfast.” It wasn’t even dawn and the household w
  17. Tuesday December 3 The Light of Hope And God said, “This is the sign of the covenant I am making between me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to come: I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. Genesis 9 Erick was adamant. “No, we are not hanging a rainbow flag on the front of the house. Besides, the Home Owner’s Association will not allow it.” E
  18. Monday December 2 The Light of Hope Our help is in the name of the Lord who created heaven and earth. Psalm 124 “No cake for breakfast!” Erick looked at Todd and wondered how much his mother had spoiled him as a child. Todd looked at Erick with a huge grin on his face so that Erick could see the remnants of a cherry stuck to his teeth. “And brush your teeth before you get dressed!” Erick walked out of the kitchen and headed to the bedroom to finish getting d

Brokenbind, Thank you for reading the new story. The story is intertwined with friends from other stories and new ones to be introduced. They will have an amazing journey over the next few weeks. Happy Thanksgiving. Mac
  20. Todd falls into Erick’s arms at the LGBT Halloween Dance at the College of William and Mary. Thus, begins their romance. They explore their burgeoning love and life together as a gay, interfaith couple during the Advent, Chanukah and Christmas seasons. But what about their brothers, Eron and Tayloe? Are they destined to fall in love also?
  21. Sunday, December 1 The Light of Hope Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: “May those who love you be secure. May there be peace within your walls and security within your citadels.” For the sake of my family and friends, I will say, “Peace be within you.” For the sake of the house of the Lord our God, I will seek your prosperity. Psalm 122 Todd and Erick moved out of their pew at Bruton Parish Church and were caught in the throng of folks who had come to church for the f
  22. Graham, A lot of my writing has a spiritual/religious base. I differ from you in thinking of Bible based religion as being the enemy. We have certainly been derided, beat up and scarred by religious people. I am trying to find a way back to where gay people can find religion/spirituality a central part of their being and that we can own and be proud of our faith. Thanks for writing. Mac
  23. Thank you very much. It was my pleasure to write the story of Yonatan and Matan. Mac
  24. Flesco, Many thanks to you for reading the story. I have grown to love Yonatan and Matan. I hope they stay in my story telling repertoire for a long time. Their story is important as we deal with hatred and bigotry in the world yet again. Mac

    Brussels

Flesco, Brussels was a chance for Matan to process all that had happened in Paris and Vienna. The portrait of his great grandparents was very moving because they were no longer theoretical but now he had a portrait and he met someone who knew them. They became real. This is where Yonatan and Matan will build their future. Thanks for reading about our two fellows. Mac
