Letting Go, Moving Forward
Mac Rountree commented on Mac Rountree's story chapter in Letting Go, Moving Forward
Dr. John, May we never forget about what has happened in the past. I am glad these characters and situations could illuminate our history. Yonatan and Matan have many adventures yet. Thanks for reading their story. Mac -
Letting Go, Moving Forward

Jay, Thanks!!! Returning to Camp Falls as parents??? OMG, that is 12 or 13 years away. Hmmmm, it might be fun to write them returning to camp with their first born son. I wonder if Mr. Fish will still be around. My brain is now in overdrive. Thanks for that! LOL. I am glad that you have enjoyed the story. I promise more twists and turns in the future books. The guys need to focus on their studies and getting ready for their commitment ceremony in December. Will Matan be a bridezilla or groomzilla in preparing for the ceremony? I wonder if it will be a boy or a girl? Hmmm, maybe there should be a lottery to see what folks think. Somehow I am having a hard time seeing the guys changing nappies. LOL. Enjoy your fall. See you in December. Mac -

Brokenbind, Thanks!!! I am enjoying writing the next book. It takes a different approach to story writing but I enjoying the heck out of it. Mac -
Letting Go, Moving Forward

Fae, Too young? Perhaps. In my part of the world it isn't that odd. Plus they have the pressure from Herbert and Judy Jenner. Herbert especially wants the family name to continue. Can you say doting grandparents? I am so pleased you loved the story. Mac -
Letting Go, Moving Forward

Andre, The boys will be back. They will appear (minor characters) in "The High and Mighty Days" which will be posted in December. You will get 36 chapters of Yonatan and Matan, Erick and Todd, Eron and Tayloe, Pate and Timmy, and their families. It is turning out to be a fun story to write. I am also working on a Yonatan and Matan story which will come out in spring 2020 which covers them going back to Brussels and Paris (they both have summer internships) with a side trip to Israel to meet their new born child. Israel has the most progressive surrogacy laws for gay and lesbian folks in the world. I am glad that you enjoyed this part of their journey. They have both become very dear to my heart. Mac -
It felt odd packing our Boy Scout equipment for the Order of the Arrow Conclave at Camp Falls. Had it only been almost four months prior that we had met at camp? It felt like another lifetime. It was the first weekend in November and the weather was still tolerable enough in the southside of Virginia to sleep outside. In fact, the Indian Summer was continuing and it promised to be a beautiful couple of days by the lake. We didn’t have much to pack. When we left my parent’s home that eventful

Fae, Thanks for being a reader of the Matan and Yonatan story. El Al is so focused on security issues it could have been one of many things. They don't take chances. Better safe than sorry. Green is clear with Yonatan that every time something happens it may not be about them. The fellows have been through a lot in 48 hours so it is understandable that Yonatan is "freaking." Mac

We exited the Chief Rabbi's office and told everyone that we had a special dispensation to travel on Shabbat and as soon as Green could make arrangements, we would be leaving Paris. Herbert was disheartened to hear that. Green acknowledged what he had heard and made a telephone call. I was then able to move Green off to the side and tell him what the Chief Rabbi had said. His eyes grew big. He only said one word. “Damn.” He went over to Black to repeat what I said. After a shocked reaction

Flesco, Glad you liked the chapter. Yonatan is applying his leadership qualities in a genuine, authentic manner. The mantle has been put on his shoulders and he is wearing it with humble pride. The next chapter is being posted today. Mac

Brokenbind, Their life's work has been laid out more clearly. Mr. Cohen revealed part in his first meeting but now they are hit with cold, hard facts. The 'cloak and dagger' will always be with them now. Their challenge will be to live their lives while under constant security and always under the threat of harm. Thanks for reading and commenting. Mac

Andre, You summarized the essence of the chapter so beautifully: "taking a deep breath, gathering their wits, and just plain consolidation." Brilliant. They certainly had a lot to sort through. The fact that they could face the world that Friday morning and form coherent sentences with Judy and Herbert was beyond belief. Then for Yonatan to formulate a plan during the day and present it at dinner speaks to his gifts and skills. He and Matan and amazing young men. They will lead exciting lives. Thanks for reading and commenting. Mac

Dughlas, Thanks for your comment. You are exactly right. We never know when a life changing event is going to present itself. I think Cavafy got it right with his poem "Che fece..Il Gran Refiuto." We are challenged to either say yes or no to the possibilities of life. Jimbo said yes. I have heard from many people who said no to the possibilities after an erotic encounter at Boy Scout camp. It is amazing how many of them carry the great regret "Il Gran Refiuto" in their hearts for many, many years. Like you, I have been amazed at the journey of the two fellows. They are strong and resilient. I celebrate their joy. Mac

The next morning, Matan and I arose early and went to the bathroom. We filled the tub with water. I laid back and Matan laid on top of me and I wrapped my arms around him. If we had been at camp we would have gone to the lake. We didn’t have Camp Falls so the bathtub would have to suffice as our waterfront. “Let’s talk about the money.” “I don’t know how, Yonatan. What do we say?” “Can we agree that the money is not ours?” “Explain what you mean.” “The money was your great-

Flesco, Thanks for the feedback. It was an exciting chapter to write and rewrite and rewrite......LOL. The fellows had a lot thrown at them in a short period of time. It will take them time to process everything they have heard. They are both quick studies which helps tremendously. People will kill for access to a billion dollars. Actually, they will kill for a lot less. The potential influence the foundations have makes them threatening to certain people and groups. The traitors may not be part of a "very small group." A small group of assassins perhaps but that does not necessarily translate into a small group that wants the fellows dead and then perhaps gain access to the fortune. I always appreciate your feedback. Thanks for reading. Mac

Green is intense and does not forgive.

Peterlefun, Things are starting to unfold. Greed is always part of people's actions when that much money is on the table. There were a lot of greedy people in that room. Thanks for reading. Mac

Andre, Thank you for reading the story. There was a lot of action in this chapter. A number of questions were answered but new ones arose such as who was (were) the traitor(s)? What are the fellows going to do with this amount of wealth? Why did Yonatan snub Cohen at the end of the meeting? Who did Lambert suggest would be a good finance manager? Will Black really recover? Sigh.....so many questions and so few chapters to go. Mac

“You are going to Vienna?” “Yes, papa. We found out this afternoon. We are meeting with the Chief Rabbi of Vienna, the Chief Rabbi of Paris, Mr. Cohen and some others we don’t know.” “May I ask why?” I turned to Herbert and told him that I had the same question and we had not been given a credible answer. Herbert and Judy looked at each other without saying a word. “It is an evil place. I do not want you to go.” Judy was busy cleaning up the mess from the overturned tea cup.

Starboardtack, LOLOLOLOL. There can only be a certain amount of saneness given these two men. What is important though, is that they continue to look to each other for support and love. Mac
-
Starboardtack, Thanks! The summer season ends and now Pate and Timmy start their first fall together. All of the summer company is gone and the world focuses on just the two of them. Maybe things will be more sane.................... Mac

“I don’t wanna get up. I want to stay in bed with you all day. Please, daddy.” I chuckled because Timmy and I were feeling the same way. Neither of us wanted to face the day if it involved other people. There was a light tap on the bedroom door and I heard, “I hate to disturb you boys, but do you want me to fix some breakfast?” “Thanks, Granny.” We both said it at the same time and were laughing how we knew each other’s mind. I leaned in and kissed him while making goo-goo eyes. We

Brokenbind, Thanks for continuing to read the story of Yonatan and Matan. Yes, lots of reveals and then lots of new questions. Gosh, it sounds sort of like life. I will tease and say the next chapter has even more BIG reveals.....and then more questions......and even more serious problems. There lives will settle down one day. Maybe...... Mac

Flesco, Thank you for your very insightful comments. The atrocities against people still continue in our present time, unfortunately. There is always darkness before light. Mr. Cohen is full of himself. He is not used to having clients who push back and challenge him. He still thinks he is dealing with boys not men.The Chief Rabbi likes the mystery and ambiguity in his comments and actions. Vienna is next where the guys meet their destiny. Mac

Fae, Yeah, Mr. Cohen was right when he predicted that Yonatan and Matan might be a problem in the future. A lawyer knows to NEVER ask that question but Mr. Cohen's ego is getting in the way. Their world in many ways is small. One word slipped out, one indiscretion made, one person asking Judy what time that Matan is to fly to Vienna. Any of those scenarios. Green is frantic because the only way he can keep Yonatan and Matan safe is to keep their itinerary secret. Thanks for reading. Mac

Tonyr, Thanks. Duh, I knew that so I didn't double check my memory. Mac
