Several times I have had guys on gay hook-up sites tell me they were just looking for friends. No problem. But when I tell them that husband and I have better luck having fuck buddies turn into friends as well it always seems to confound them. A name for that, who knows. As I think about it, I don't have to have a lot of connection to play with someone but I WON'T play with someone I don't like or don't trust. Tom

Thanks for a great chapter!!! Love seeing the guys' relationships progress, and especially love seeing the kids take their places in the fruition of Greg's dream. His dream of creating a place of refuge as a reaction to his tortured years as a gay youth. Tom

Thank you for another great chapter. Your building chapters make inclusive and enjoyable reading, too. One of the wonderful features of your writing is the way we read along learning things and having our horizons expanded without ever feeling like you've been "teaching" us. Everything seems to just flow organically along, and yet we know it takes a lot of skill and work on your and your team's part to make it appear smooth and effortless.

Great chapter, incredible story, and joyously informed comments and discussion. I had been POZ and undetectable for a few years when U=U started showing up in POZ Magazine as an emerging theory, and now it appears to be nearly uniformly accepted at least in the US. My Infectious Disease doc even mentioned it in passing during my last appointment. If even a few readers learn that informed and careful are a great way of life we've all been pretty damned successful. Tom

If it makes you feel any better mollyhousemouse, you weren't the only one who operated outside the vanilla mainstream. There are those of us who continue to do so. My undying position on that is that activities among consenting adults which pose no harm are perfectly all right. Maybe that gives a hint of my message to anyone too narrow minded to accept it. Tom

I do love this chapter... It started with the joy of Greg and Clay's deepening relationship and physical closeness, but it surely turned rough for me from there on. I really bothers me TERRIBLY to experience someone taking a nosedive into doubts of their own personal worth because they are weighted down with the irrational guilt and stigma brought on from being POZ. All this misery because of ignorance and negative attitudes of the mainstream. Fortunately Wayne manages to turn a story into a teaching opportunity for the unenlightened. Camp Refuge is certainly earning it's name. This really hits close to home for husband and me because we were spared the misery only because we had several years of close contact and acquaintance with several guys who had productive and enjoyable lives in spite of being POZ. Tim, One outstanding gay historical source is the Matachine Society of Washington, D. C. They and some of their archives are online and free. They also have an e-newsletter which is free. Tom

I'm thankful that in spite of a rough start your coming out became easier over time and ended well. Glad you had the fortitude to share your journey with the rest of us on here. Tom

It's great when people seek out information on gay history and are aware of how things were in the past. That makes us better equipped to deal with our present and our future. The high degree of unawareness by people who don't seek out history is one of the conditions making it so important for folks like Wayne to get the history out there in an easily approachable format. Skilled writers are able to slip the lessons into the flow of the story, and readers learn with less effort. I really didn't fully appreciate the significance of what Wayne has done when I first read the story on another site. The discussions on GA reinforce important aspects of the stories. Tom

The the acceptance of diversity and the way everyday people deal with it has come about a thousand miles in the last 50 - 60 years. With all the changes it's really important gay people know the kinds of hell out gay people lived through in the 50s through the 70s. Tom

Holding out for "normal" could be akin to holding out for "unbroken".... a bit short of those works for me. Tom

Hey tim, Glad you set Wayne off on this one. That cider must have given him a good start. Tom

Wayne had given us another amazing and thoroughly engaging story! I can't imagine a better vehicle for my first read into the paranormal genre. I highly recommend this and the rest of Wayne's stories.

That was a great wrap-up to an amazing and thoroughly engaging story! I can't imagine a better vehicle for my first read into the paranormal genre. I kept waiting for the new Conduit, but Shane's reveal caught me totally off guard. Looking forward to lots more. Tom

A chapter full of new M4M erotic experiences... The almost overwhelming experience of first taking that special man's penis in your mouth, bringing him to completion, and swallowing the prize. Things happen fast and the sensations are strong. The descriptions are incredibly well written and make us feel like we're right there and pulled into the all that is taking place. And the experiences of younger guys dealing with meeting new guys and realizing they've thrown wood almost without realizing it. So many new things to experience and learn from. Tom

AW gawd... it's been long enough from first read I had forgotten the early morning SHOCK, but as we say in the South these are good folks and things get processed and worked through. After all it IS a place of safety and refuge and the successful process makes a great start for meeting big challenges to come. It's an incredible story and thanks to Wayne for including us. Tom

THAT was an action-packed chapter! Some questions answered, yet more remain. Love it! Tom

Read this chapter twice this time... unexpectedly finding a same-sex life partner in middle age can be an incredible experience. Thank you Wayne for engaging us in Greg and Clay's starting their new way together. Having a gay family at the nucleus of Camp Refuge strengthens and expands its possibilities. I'm looking forward to experiencing their progress. Tom

It's great to be back to read the new edit of this story. It's a truly engaging story of good, solid gay people helping others.

I am going to assume that reference goes beyond Creedence Clearwater Revival...

Being a total paranormal genre newbie, this story has been FULL of new and unfamiliar twists and turns for me. I'm trusting Wayne as the tour guide, following along to observe, learn, and enjoy. And going along with Wayne I strongly suspicion "we ain't seen nothin' yet".

Back to the end of Ch 3... and awwww gawd.... the web becomes more and more entangled. AND... the more entangled the plot becomes, the more I feel myself pulled into it. Tom
