    Misunderstandings

Gossip and rumours make issues like this escalate so fast!
  2. It's mentioned in one of the books (possibly Renegades of Pern) that ground crew find it hard to understand one of the riders who has come forward. Of course, Pern is a large continent and would probably have regional accents, particularly in some of the isolated holds, so it might be he just came from another part.

    Helping Out

M'rell was never that bothered about being Wingsecond before, but there are other issues he's dealing with. Right now he's just seeing that D'gar is having more success at Benden than he is.

I've got the first six of the series in paperback and have read the rest on Kindle. Must dust them off and re-read again.

    Working Things Out

That's a good point. S'brin might have ended up as one of those self important bronze riders, but probably more like G'dol (he who fell in the shit pit through ignoring advice). F'drun will show more of his traits later in the story (which I’m not going to spoil for you) but he is a lot worse than he's shown so far.

    Thread Over Benden

This was my first Threadfighting scene. I visualized it in my head like a film and then described the moves.

    The New Wingsecond

The chaos is about to kick off…

    The Big Move

Don't forget 'A Hatching in Southern', 'First Flight' and 'The Return to Benden'. They are just short stories, but give some of H'rek's backstory.

    Creline's Advice

They can be very confusing to work out!

Cynthia has definitely got a touch of Miss Marple about her, although there's also a smidgeon of Anna Madrigal from 'Tales of the City' about her.

I was tempted to write an epilogue, then realised I’d rather write a complete sequel. There is a definite parallel between Jack and Terry's stories and that was one of the reasons Jack's spirit was drawn to Terry. Jack knew how ruthless Jenny was and didn't want Terry to end up dead, as he did. He also wanted some sort of justice for Trevor.

I hope you do! And maybe get Terry’s mom involved if she comes to visit? You’ve given yourself a wealth of characters to create with. Thank you for giving me a reason to look forward to Mondays, lol! Edited to add: I think Jenny killed Trevor because he wanted Jack, not because he wanted his money. Your idea of why Jenny killed Trevor is fairly close to what I thought, too. Having 'chosen' Trevor, she'd have been pretty upset if he'd had an affair with anyone else. Once Jenny picks you, you don’t get away easily (or alive).

You certainly got the major details right. I've been toying with the idea of a sequel where Terry starts investigating reports of hauntings, together with Cynthia. After all, his job as a projectionist is going to become redundant when the digital roll-out starts about 5 years from the end of this story.

Glad you enjoyed it. I spent many a tortured hour working out the plot twists. Your theory about Jenny is similar to my own. Having got Bob the Builder to do her bidding once, she'd not pass up the chance to involve him again. Brenda is going to be blaming herself for a very long time, wondering how she was taken in by Jenny, but it's often the way that we question the motives of old friends less than someone we've just met. I think Sylvia will help her to come to terms with it all. Poor Jack; he really didn't deserve that ending. At least he had the chance to tell his story and help save Terry and Dan from Jenny. Cynthia will probably live to be 100!

I'm currently working on another mystery/romance, although there aren't going to be any paranormal elements in that one.

Glad to hear that. It started life as a NaNoWriMo piece, just 55,000 words long and took a bit of work to make it into a something worth reading.

Working on some things right now. I enjoy writing mysteries but they are the very devil to plan out!

Jenny was good at manipulating people. I think she probably saw that he could be useful during the time the cinema was being tripled and kept the acquaintance going over they years. Wonder how many of her 'business rivals' ended up buried in the foundations of various building projects?

By his second week of convalescence, Dan was getting bored, so Cynthia began to teach him to read Tarot cards. Much to my surprise, we often ended up discussing the meaning of the cards. ‘Why is it I can remember some meanings easily and others not so much?’ ‘It’s like that for everyone. Some of them talk to you and some just don’t. Just spend more time meditating on the ones you find difficult.’ Dan picked out the Knight of Wands. ‘Think I’m always going to remember this one. Tha
  20. So true. Not everywhere is as intolerant as Pinnacle Hold, but without good communication, how would anyone get to know where is safe and where isn't. The Weyr is well known for taking people in, whatever their circumstances or sexual orientation.

    Just Rewards

Totally right. D'gar tries to reason it's down to S'brin being impulsive or under the influence of a proddy dragon, because he wouldn't behave like that, so can't believe someone else would.

    Old Friends

I wrote GAGA first, then this one to fill in the backstory. The people who read them in the order they were published already know much of what happened, although not all the details, maybe. Thanks for your comment. My objective was to try and write this as if it was a missing Pern book and it seems I have succeeded.

    A Day Out

That's very well thought out. They are both still very young, S'brin is nowhere near as mature and thoughtful as D'gar, then add in randy dragons to the mix and it’s not surprising.

    Chapter 1

Looks like I’ll have to do some more medieval research then! It won't be for a few weeks as I have to learn lines for a play I’m in, on top of writing 'To the Weyr' and an as yet unnamed mystery story (8 chapters in so far), but all of your pleas have persuaded me to give it a go.

    Chapter 1

I'm beginning to be persuaded to carry on... let's see how many plates I can keep spinning before it all comes crashing down!
