That’s a good point. I often wonder if Robinton could have Impressed as dragons speak to him so often in the books. As newcomers to the Weyr, it would be easy to just go along with other's opinions, but Jevikel and Kadin have seen enough of people following along blindly at Pinnacle.

It's difficult to say anything different than what others have said before me. This is a great story and a fitting spinoff/sequel to 'Boss Nanny'. The characters are well delineated, the plot, which could have descended into cliché, spot on. After reading this you will feel as if you have been on a journey along with Jay and Loren. Well done @Mrsgnomie. Now you have given yourself a very hard act to follow.

“Cynthia,” angrily replied my father, “That’s the problem now. Too many people are remaining silent on the sidelines to what is happening. When they do that, then they let others control the conversation. That is why we are where we are today.” Such true words. It's so easy for people to stay silent and pretend bad things aren't happening around them, or to hope if they ignore it it will go away. Sadly, as history proves, that doesn't tend to happen. I foresee trouble at the protest, although maybe if enough media people turn up it will make the racists look bad.

Jevikel wouldn't have told Kemi his suspicions; there's nothing either of them could do in any case and he wasn't 100% sure. Vikkel has got away with it, for the time being anyway. Kadin has made a few friends among the green riders and isn't put off by the bad press they get. He's already half convinced himself that green is the way to go. As you say, Jevikel isn't so sure and in the end, the dragon chooses.

As I’d suspected, we didn’t hear a great deal right away. Cynthia insisted Dan should stay at her house, in case he needed help while I was at work. He’d been told to rest at home for two weeks to speed healing and reduce the chance of his shoulder dislocating again in the future. Another great Ravello story. When I read these I always feel as if I am getting glimpses of real people's lives in this beautiful part of Italy. The theme of this one is friendship and how it inevitably changes as teenagers grow up, experiencing the ups and downs of first love and new emotions they don't quite understand yet.

They have all had their eyes opened to the possibility of romantic relationships, but have also learned that giving your heart to someone can hurt. The logical thing to do would be to go back to being good friends again, but maybe, for some of them, it’s gone too far.

I really enjoy writing the Weyr stories. I know the world and the characters so well now that sometimes, if I get stuck on something else I’ll return to Pern for a while, ensuring I am always several chapters ahead of posting.

It's all gone well so far and Bavi is certainly a good fit as foster mother. There is so much for them to learn about the Weyr. It's almost like emigrating to another country. For Jevikel particularly, he's having to get used to more people than he's ever seen in all the Turns he was at Pinnacle Hold.
