This is heartwarming, seeing this bond forge between the boys. Definitely went warp speed on sex...hopefully that wont be a relationship stumbling block later on. Although, I have this sinking feeling that Connor's parents are much more in tune with him than he thinks. Hopefully his full on coming out doesn't crush his sweet soul. Really excited to see how this one progresses...

Sure, this took some urging to get Alec to do this, but this is HUGE. He's already got toe support of Finn's Mom and whether he's ready to admit it or not, Milo is ready to go Papa Bear for Alec (and Finn). I just wonder, how much of this antipathy or hatred from Alec's parents is real vs perceived. Now, I'm gonna pout about waiting a whole 'nother week until my greedy ass gets more Finn and Alec!

This chapter shook Alec and River, more so because violence isn't part of the homeschooled world. While Alec's anxiety and lack of self-worth is a part of this, I'm also really concerned for how Finn is going to take this. Finn, the happy go lucky, friends with everyone kind of kid is being "warned away" and results in fighting...in a lot of ways, I think this one is going to affect Finn more that we're seeing right now. How does the raincheck change things? Obviously, it's going to take a further toll on Alec, but his personal concern is on Finn, cute, altruistic and sensitive, but never doubt the dark force of homophobia and toxic masculinity in high school. I immediately like Milo. No questions asked. But hell yes, Finn! FINALLYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY. I have this deep seated feeling that Finn's patience will be tested immensely with Alec...question is, what role will Milo play in protecting and empowering Alec here? Now I don't want to wait a week for the next installment! Reconnecting with one of my favorite authors stories and a crappy work week wants me to binge like whoa.

For all his outgoing bravado and endless golden retriever energy, Finn is scared shitless. He can socially put himself out there as one of the popular crowd, but he's totally guarding his inner emotions. He's so scared of being rejected by Alec as a potential same sex interest that he just can't manage to do it. Maybe there's a little more in common here than we're actually seeing. Insecurities, anxiety, fear...more than meets the eye. But I think its more than just teenager/gay teen angst here...

Alec has this adorable naivete that's also extremely frustrating. Can River help him? Can he fix things with Finn...lets hope. But that also really scares me with the potential of someone leaving--who gets hurt more? Not that hurt is a contest, but someone is going to get hurt, then someone else is going to get hurt badly...my inner romantic is really scared of that part...

I can certainly see an angle where Finn actually leaves...he's a bit of a space cadet when it comes to emotions, even if he's clearly crushing on Alec something fierce. Would Alec being stuck in the town be a major cause of resentment because Finn got out and then came back to save the bakery? I guess only time will tell.

There's something really endearing about Alec and Finn. For all his anxieties and doubts, Alec just wants love. Finn is the bubbly extrovert anomaly that's keeping some cards close to his chest. I'm excited to see what the future brings for these two, but my gut tells me that there's going to be a cycle of pain and pleasure...
