I hope you've enjoyed this two chapter teaser for Savage Beasts, the second story in the Werebears in America series. It may be a couple days or more before I am far enough ahead in the writing to begin posting new chapters every day, so be sure to follow this story to receive updates when the new chapters post! In the meantime, I'll leave you with a picture of the sign hanging above Gunnar and Mike's restaurant...

The five am alarm went off on the bedside table. Mike reached over automatically with a big hairy arm and banged his hand against the top of the clock until he finally hit the right button to make the noise go away. He rolled over and snuggled up against Gunnar’s broad back and pressed his morning erection into the cleft of his Papa’s ass. “Mornin’ Cub,” Gunnar said with a yawn. “You plannin’ on doing somethin’ with that pole of yours, or is that just your way of saying ‘Good morning, Pa

Chapter 1 of the next story in the "Werebears in America" series is off to an extremely dark start! I don't want to leave you hanging on such a dark note, so I'll post chapter 2 now as well to give you a teaser of what's ahead.

Christopher scrolled through the gay dating app on his phone, looking at the list of available men to choose from. There were so many men putting revealing photos of themselves online in apps these days, like objects for sale in a department store catalog. Men desperate and lonely, many simply seeking someone to share their bed for a night, and others hoping that the app would be their place to find that special someone. Christopher scanned their photos quickly as his phone screen scrolled, r

Humans must be kindred and have the dormant genetic code in order to be turned into a werebear. But, what happens if a werebear tries to turn a non-kindred human? And, what happens if that werebear tries to create an entire army of half human, half bear monsters to exact revenge on the secret lycan community? It will take an army of noble werebears to stop his evil plans and fight back.

Three bears and four wolves climbed aboard the flatbed behind the rainbow-painted semi as the truck prepared to pull into their spot in the Chicago Pride parade. “I’m not expecting professional backup dancers like we had with your security team,” Susie said to the bears, “But, try to remember the choreography.” “If you forget,” Lupita interrupted, “Just shake your big bear ass or bounce your package at the crowd and they won’t know the difference.” Gunnar, Mike and Thomas nodded a

Also note that Trophy Cub is now listed as Book 1 in the "Werebears in America" series: Book 2 is currently in the works, and when I have enough chapters finished to give me a head start, I'll start publishing. Most likely within the next few days.
-
This is now the end of the story for Trophy Cub, but stay tuned for a final Epilogue that you won't want to miss!

It was mid-morning when Gunnar and Mike gave Thomas big bear hugs outside the doors to the ticketing counter at the Green Bay International Airport. Thomas rubbed the silver bear bracelet on his wrist and looked at the two of them with a touch of sadness. As eager as he was to get home to his own cabin in the mountains and take care of any necessary repairs after it sat empty for half a year, he was still going to miss his friends, old and new. “Now don’t go getting all sappy on me, littl

In Which Many Things are Resolved on the Battlefield
Grumpy Bear commented on Grumpy Bear's story chapter in In Which Many Things are Resolved on the Battlefield
I wanted the Lycan Council to be located in Canada rather than the US, and I wanted them to be in a good-sized city very close to the Rocky Mountains. Calgary fit the bill, and just seems like it would be a place that lycans would love to be. -
The three bears struck a defensive posture, but they were outnumbered. Forty wolves charged at them as one, and while they were each able to knock down the first few that came at them, eventually each bear was overwhelmed as they were piled upon by dozens of lycans. Now, Gunnar, Thomas, and Mike kneeled in a line in the grass surrounded by the pack of male wolves, waiting for the instructions of their Alpha to either bind them and haul them to the vans, or rip them to pieces. The males ca

How did you come up with your username on here?
Grumpy Bear replied to Sherye Story Reader's topic in The Lounge
I'm a self-described "bear" and the fiction that I'm writing here will be mostly focused on werebears to contrast the multitude of werewolf/wolf lycan fiction out there. I thought through all of the pop-culture bears out there since my childhood in the early 70's to see if there was one bear that I could connect with as a mascot and username. "Grumpy Bear" from the Care Bears was the logical choice. I'm what you get if Grumpy Bear actually grew up into an adult grizzly bear. -
That actually should be the role of the Enforcer in a normal pack, but with the isolationist nature of these separatist packs, there isn't as much planning or strategy to be done, so the role becomes more of a head-of-security. Kane knows that Nick is a big, dumb idiot, but to the rest of the pack, Nick is that "General" who is the Alpha's ranking officer. Kane is using the Enforcer role as a means to hide his sins. The fact that Nick doesn't quite live up to what the role of the Enforcer should be is probably the reason that the pack has had so much trouble since first encountering Gunnar. They don't really have that "General" that they need to form an effective defense or attack; Kane and Bart have had to pick up Nick's slack. It is most likely the reason why Kane pitted Bart and Nick against each other back in the Estrus Moon tournament. Nick is useful to him for many things, but Kane doesn't consider a homosexual moron worthy of breeding a new generation of pups!

Here's my thought on Nick and his relationship with the Alpha... Yes, Nick is indeed dumb as a sack of rocks. The issue is that the Alpha himself is secretly gay, and he knows that Nick is as well. The best way for him to sate his urges and also keep his secret from the rest of the pack is to make the big, dumb, musclebound idiot his officer to keep him loyal and close. Nick couldn't be a Beta, because that requires too much brainpower, so the logical choice was for Nick to be Kane's Enforcer. All brawn, no brains. Whenever the pack would have a human pet, the Alpha could feed his sexual hunger in the "proper" way, but the pets usually never lived as long as Mike. Mike's continuing existence and the Alpha's obsession with him has turned the big, dumb Enforcer into a jealous monster. As for Nick being able to make the connection that the third werebear = human Mike, we can safely assume that Nick has never encountered the before and after appearances of a changed human, and Mike's new appearance isn't causing the brain cells in Nick's head to fire just yet. Now that Kane is here, that may soon change...

The pack house was a buzz of activity. The males ran about to complete tasks as assigned by the Alpha and Enforcer to load the pack vans and SUVs, preparing to move out on their mission. Kane met with his Beta privately, reviewing his plan and leaving last minute instructions on the running of the pack house in his absence. “If all goes well, we should have the prisoners sent back here to await final punishment within the week,” Kane said. “It’s a full night’s drive to the territory wher

Becoming One with the Bear

😀 I wondered if somebody was going to call out Thomas on his big blunder to need a beer so badly that he blew their cover! Bears & Beers! Hopefully they were worth it... we'll see. -

Becoming One with the Bear
Grumpy Bear commented on Grumpy Bear's story chapter in Becoming One with the Bear
Kane had his video meeting with the other Alphas around the end of February, and then the Supreme Alpha's mole gave his report, and the lycan council meeting was a week after that. So, we can figure that it's been about two months since the Council meeting, since Mike's shift took place at the end of April. I'd say that the wolf didn't know to hang out at that particular general store, but the store is located within his pack's patrol territory, and he just happened to be patrolling in the right place at the right time. With all of the separatist packs hunters and patrol wolves on the lookout, there was a high probability that they were going to be spotted once they ventured out of their secluded hiding place. -
Spring had arrived at the cabin in the forest. The snow had melted, and although it still occasionally dipped below freezing at night, the only precipitation for the last couple of weeks was rain. Gunnar stood in the kitchen, cooking the usual breakfast for Mike of oatmeal and bacon. Their supplies were beginning to run low, and they had reached the point where certain foods were completely gone, but they had enough to get by for now, and Gunnar was expecting Mike’s change to happen any d

Many years ago, I served as jury foreman on a federal trial of a cult leader who was charged with five years worth of tax evasion. Over the course of two weeks, they brought a lot of his followers to the stand to testify why their leader should be allowed to do whatever he wanted and spend the "church's" money on himself in any way he wished with no oversight whatsoever. The responses from those cult followers in that trial were my basis for the behavior of the lycan prisoners in this chapter.

Apollo gazed out of the windows of his guest suite within the North American Lycan Council headquarters. The snow-capped mountains in the distance gleamed brightly from the morning sun, and the entire grounds surrounding the Council complex here in Calgary was covered in a thick white blanket. Alpha Apollo and several others had been summoned to the headquarters to testify as the Council discussed the fate of the six wolves captured within his territory attempting to murder the five stray

Mike was a little over a month along in his four-month journey toward his first werebear shift. Gunnar and Thomas had worked out a daily schedule that kept him busy and would develop his growing bear muscles. They also dealt with his ever-increasing werebear libido. In a typical day, Gunnar would get up early and begin cooking breakfast. Some days Mike would eat a gallon of oatmeal and two pounds of bacon. Other days it would be twenty pancakes or waffles and two or three pounds of saus

Susie insisted that Gunnar & crew go dark and off-grid for the winter so that Kane couldn't find him, or try to extract information from anybody else. The She-Wolves are under the protection of Alpha Apollo and the Chicago pack, so they'll be doing OK. We haven't hear the last of the She-Wolves just yet!

It took nearly three weeks for the new turbine gearboxes to be delivered to the post office, and then three more days for Thomas to get them all installed at the top of each of the towers. Once the task was complete, the blades began spinning swiftly in the December winds, and the battery bank was filled to capacity. “Lucky you,” Thomas said, jokingly with Gunnar, “You get to go into the city and go shopping just one week before Christmas! Have fun with that.” “Yeah, I know,” Gunnar
