Interesting...I bet it would make for a good filler chapter....🤔
-
Agreed, though I don't think Liam is experiencing his gay situation any more than Mike is. I think Liam is gay and doesn't want to scare Mike off, just like Mike assumes Liam is straight and doesn't want to scare him off. I think if Olivia was like, "Oh fuck's sake. You're both clearly gay for each other, so stop this nonsense," they'd sort their issues out faster...but that wouldn't make for good content at this point, in my opinion.

Liam definitely did, but I'm not sure I wouldn't have reacted any differently. You go from having your own space to being forced to share it with a complete stranger who acts "weird" and awkward. He did make it clear later that it wasn't Mike's fault nor was he mad at Mike for it, even if he didn't do the best job of it.

Mike definitely is clueless, but he seems to be catching on, even if it is slowly. I wasn't sure how to take Liam, but this chapter is showing the sweeter side of him that I hope sticks around.

I think we're all a little like Mike but also hoping out for the best.

@drsawzall I was concerned, too. I thought Liam might do the whole, "it was just a one time thing," or "I'm not gay and it won't happen again." I think he's been crushing on Mike from the beginning and thinks Mike is straight, which isn't helping at all with his over thinking and awkwardness. I like your idea for how things progress, as well. As for the squirrel sounds...somethings are just better off not knowing.... 😂

I agree with you whole heartedly. I lost my own mother to cancer, so I very much empathize with Mike, and I hope his mother doesn't die. As for Liam, I think you nailed it on the head.

This has been an interesting take on the whole "will they, won't they" trope and rather well done, in my opinion.

Agreed. I think they're being awkward teen boys who know how they each feel about the other but too afraid of rejection to say it out loud.

It's one of my favorite. Arch is a great writer.

Ugh, this is so good! I love that Liam is being considerate and carrying about Mike. Now, if only Mike would just chill and stop over thinking everything. Lol I figured Olivia was setting them up. Liam was probably gushing about how cute Mike is, and she figured they'd be cute together. Your story is absolutely amazing and a favorite, which I've recommended to several of my own readers, so hopefully, you've gained some new fans.

Caleb is a kid who is "once bitten, twice shy." His first interaction with Calvin was largely positive, and he hoped they'd get to know each other more until Calvin showed his true colors during the first visit. He has, since then, decided that interacting with Calvin isn't worth it. This dynamic was intended to be a very subtle hint at things to come.

We'll have to see if there's any fall out from Charlie hanging around.

I'm glad you liked this filler chapter. 😁 James is a typical, American, teen boy from what I remember and have experienced, so he's going to be annoying at times. He likes shock value, so I can see why you're unsure about his motives. I guess we'll see where things go with James.

Calvin's motives will eventually come to light...or will they? 😏 I'm glad you enjoyed the humor. A lot of serious chapters and scenes have come up lately, so I thought I'd get back to some funny stuff.

No doubt everyone was hoping for a confrontation between the two, but Charlie has a lot of self-control and Calvin is a coward.
-
You bring up some good points. As I just posted in @chris191070's response, I don't want to give anything away just yet about why Calvin is acting the way his is, even though it isn't very...shocking? (for want of a better word). There is something to it that will be brought up, but it won't seem important at first and is rather subtle. The Court Order doesn't specify that others can't be present; in fact, if Steve wanted, they could've met at restaurant or shopping center...but that doesn't mean that Calvin's lawyers still won't bring it up, as any lawyer worth their salt would, whether valid or not.

I thought people would enjoy Calvin wetting himself. Lol The real Calvin also liked to think of himself as a "man's man" yet is an actual coward and has never been in a fight in his entire life, preferring to run away and snitch on anyone who confronted him. He claims to be a "mixed martial artist" because he took a couple free lessons at various gyms. 🙄 That's the personality the Calvin of the story has. He's all talk and no substance, which is why he thought he could talk back to Charlie until Charlie literally scared the piss out of him. As far as Calvin not talking, that will be covered soon enough, so I don't want to spoil anything, even though it'll like be anti-climatic.

The rest of the week went by well. Kenny got his room the way he wanted it for the most part, with Bryan's interventions. Kenny wanted to get LED strips but didn't want to ask Billy or Trevor, so Bryan did it instead. Billy was more than willing to take them. Kenny was annoyed but accepted the decorations. After school, Diego would pick them up as usual and take them back home until Trevor picked them up in the evenings. Billy usually worked late to prepare for court the next day, and Trevo

Steve has always been that kind of character. He does what's right, even if it rocks the boat, and supports the people he loves just by letting them be themselves. He's often the rock that everyone leans on, and Bryan finally knows that. Billy has his moments but yes, Billy in the courtroom is not the Billy outside of it. The twins have a very tight relationship and bond. They're still brothers who fight and stuff, but none of that changes how they really feel about each other. Sadly, Judge Crusty Pants will not die any time soon, but there are developments coming in the next few chapters.
