    Chapter 15

Answers are coming sooner than later....
  2. Diego pulled into the parking lot. He had already talked to at least six lawyers already and none had any openings. He was starting to feel frustrated. His business partner offered to help, but Diego had already been asking too much of the man already and couldn't keep doing it. He got out of his truck and walked up to the door and went in. The lobby was nice enough, though small. It smelled like paper and cleaner, not too dissimilar to a government building. There was a small sitting area

    Chapter 14

But, what will happen until that day comes?

    Chapter 14

Teenagers often lack foresight, and Bryan is no exception. Angst is another teenage trait Bryan is relishing at the moment.

    Chapter 14

I remember my teen years all too well, unfortunately.

    Chapter 14

    Neither was I.

    Chapter 14

Yes, but teenagers often aren't the most sensible.

    Chapter 14

It can be easy to allow such organizations to help gaslight your cause, especially for someone as manipulative as Calvin is trying to be towards Bryan. Churches, especially evangelicals in America, are pretty bad for that sort of thing; I mean, the Westboro Baptist Church is a classic example.

    Chapter 14

This history lesson was to add implied context to the time frame in which Diego was outed. I actually see a lot of younger queer people being dismissive of older queer people about their experiences, having never dealt with the same issues as those who grew up in the 90s and before. It's like hearing about WWII verses having experienced it first hand. It's one thing to hear the horror stories of Matthew Shepard and the indifferences towards HIV/AIDS, it's something completely different to have lived through it. Diego trusts that Bryan is smart enough to get the meaning behind it all.

    Chapter 14

    Only time will tell.

    Chapter 14

Such things are never easy, especially with the American legal system as it is, but you're very much right in every regard.
  12. I am your dad, Bryan seethed. Who the fuck does he think he is, Darth Vader? Bryan put down his phone for the 39th time since Kenny went home. Calvin hadn't responded, though he had seen the message. Bryan didn't know what pissed him off more: Calvin not responding right away or that Bryan might not get another opportunity to yell at his sperm donor again. He grabbed his phone again and, of course, no more messages. Bryan had spent much of his life wondering what he would say if given an op

    Chapter 13

There will be more on Calvin in the next chapter. I like natural dialogue and expressions of affection, so I'm glad you saw it that way.

    Chapter 13

    Glad you appreciate it.

    Chapter 13

Diego intervening was a debate for me, as well, but that's what the story said to write. Donna and Calvin will be discussed more in the next chapter.
  16. John Henry

    Chapter 13

That's a good theory about Donna and money. More of Donna and Calvin's backstory will be in the next chapter. Again, teenagers don't always do what's in their own best interest.
  17. John Henry

    Chapter 13

Well, more about Calvin will be revealed in the next chapter, so you can adjust your theory accordingly then.

    Chapter 13

Calvin is proving to be a big pain in the ass.
  19. Diego found Bryan at a nearby gas station. As he pulled up, he noticed that Bryan had been crying again. “I take it that your conversation with Kenny didn't go as planned?” Bryan shook his head no. “I see,” Diego said, as he pulled back onto the road. Instead of heading home, he drove to a spot that overlooked the city, stopping at a store for drinks on the way. “Chico, I've been trying to stay out of this for a while, and I've been giving you the space I think you need to sort th

Can't say I agree with this, and a vasectomy wouldn't stop the hormones.

    Chapter 12

Apparently, you're too old to even say, "I'm too old for this shit." Lol Yeah, I'm old too, but I still recount enough to remember how horrible communication was at that age. Having feelings you can't express because they're too new, the angst, anger, fear, lust and other imbalances due to the flood of hormones. Shit like that was why Grunge was so popular.

    Chapter 12

Totally agree. They want validation but can't come to mutual terms with how to achieve it. Kids and teens still focus on "It's black and white" without the experience to see all the gray in the world.

    Chapter 12

Damaged people are often drawn together like magnets. It takes a lot of self reflection and growth to get out of that, which isn't something 14-year-olds can really do. I think, had Donna not gotten into drugs and kept the boys, they'd have a very similar life to Kenny's, actually, but that might get explored later. I don't think Kenny is needy, per se. I think he's insecure and that insecurity is the cause of his need to feel accepted and cared for, because he doesn't ever feel accepted or cared for.

    Chapter 12

I wanted to show this very common and aggravating situation can play out with the narrative. Usually, we only see our side in these moments. They have the same goal, but they just can't quiet get there at the same time.
  25. John Henry

    Chapter 12

Yeah, nothing is worse that two people wanting the same thing but unable to agree on how to achieve it. They are certainly very young for this kind of experience, but teenagers often think they're adult enough, anyway.
