I love the ideas, but I fear Colin is ready for anything like that, yet.

Thanks, and I really enjoy reading all the comments.
  4. The new house looked a treat. On Friday evening after I got back from the pub, I finally got to see it and ended up sitting on the floor in the new kitchen on the phone to Colin, in raptures. He laughed. >You're going to need new kitchen units and stuff, we tried to make the old ones work, but it looks pretty crappy, nothing matches up or fits properly anymore. "I noticed, that's not a problem.” >I was looking, IKEA do some nice units and they have nice sturdy carcasses.
  5. Ralph will be getting his own storyline next year, with some of his back story....
  6. Don't worry we are hot on Wedding Plans and we have a birthday party too! A quiet Christmas to all, and there'll be lots in the New Year.
  7. Thanks and a peaceful holiday to you too.
  8. The solicitors’ office was in an unlovely modern office block almost within sight of the Cathedral. It seemed to house a whole variety of firms and as they waited in the foyer on uncomfortable brown leather sofas, Toby amused himself by reading down the list of other firms in the offices, wondering what they were. A young man appeared, twenty-something, floppy blown hair, a suit and rather a posh accent. He led them upstairs, to the firm’s offices. The office Gordon and Brian were shown to
  9. As a result of comments, I have tweaked this chapter a little, so hope it flows better. Thanks.
  10. I'm not aiming for complete realism, but there will be drama
  11. Apologies for any confusion, never sure whether to spell things out or not, and a lot actually happens in Owain's head...
  12. Keep you all going over the holiday season!
  13. The next week was horrendous, I was busy with work and the workmen were beavering away at the house. Colin was tearing his hair out as everything was taking far longer than it should and all his schedules were up the creek. Eventually, I gave up, left the new house to Colin and his crew, and stayed at the rental house, thankful I hadn’t given in to economy and tried to move properly into the new place. I also spent rather longer in the office than intended. Francis was friendly, but slightl
  14. Thanks!
  15. Will have to think about that one, well spotted!
  16. "Let me get this right, you're suggesting that our Monday meeting could be at your office but that if it is, then we'd be naked." Gordon had phoned Russ earlier in the week, but it had taken until Sunday morning for the man to get back to them. Apologetic, at first, because changes to his schedule had left him short of time, and then unsurprisingly rather mistrustful. Gordon tried to keep things brisk and business-like but was beginning to regret the idea of inviting him to meet at Ares, an
  17. I am a great re-reader and reviser, so most of my stories (the ones on GA and the one's not yet posted) are well on the way, if not complete. I like to leave something to simmer, then return back to it and tweak, so I am usually well ahead. But then, I often rework a little just before posting. But that's me, I like to know where the story is going before committing.
  18. Rather late to the discussion, I'm afraid. For me it depends on the story. For some, it's a helpful way of keeping track and sometimes they make it to the final cut, sometimes not. I rather like have a little descriptive tag, hopefully to tempt people. But other stories come out in a continuous stream of short sections, these never have titles and chapters are only for convenience. But I can see that other folk are different. That's half the fun.

Always happy to take comments and corrections! And perhaps we could go on for ever.....
  20. Thanks. Hope the Italian trip lives up to expectations!
  21. Thankfully we managed to get a table outside the pub. It was an old place, recently done up in a modern style that aimed to emulate what might have once been here. The rear yard, at one time the access for deliveries from the riverside quay, had been turned into an attractive waterside eating area. The quay was still there, but the river was the precinct of canal-boat holidays and little more. Across the river the view opened out and in many ways it was idyllic. Sorting out food and drinks

One of the things I might want to know is whether Brian, Gordon and Toby's story comes to an end, or whether we roll on as a sort of open-ended serial.

Thanks. The story is written as far as chapter 36, then we take a pause and re-think. But I have a few more stories ready to go, so happy to keep everyone entertained.
  24. "So, how are things with Deirdre. Toby was saying last night that he didn't see that much of her." Brian was helping Evie prepare lunch. They'd driven over to collect Toby; Evie had insisted they stay to lunch and Toby had immediately spirited Gordon away to do something in the orchard whilst Drew was immured in his studio and may or may not join them for lunch. Gordon had explained to Brian ages ago that his Dad did disappearing acts like that, so Brian didn’t mind being co-opted by Evie.

Thanks. I dislike padding for the sake of it, but more in the next chapter
