Sigh, this was nice. Jesse's really getting things done for his family, and Shaun's slowly making progress at work. Hell, the two of them are even working through the issues in their relationship... in their own, singular way. ... which is why I can't wait to find out what kind of fresh hell's gonna come at them now 🫠 lol. Maybe someone will get shot at the popup show. Maybe Kyle will come back from the dead to ruin everyone's night! Whatever it is, I'm sure it'll be a fun read 🤪

Imagine being me, coming back from a whole week away due to work, and getting not one, but two whole-ass chapters to catch up on. Man, that was a lot of reading 😵‍💫 I'm gonna be honest, I dread it when a character in a story hits a streak of good luck, bc usually that means something really bad is about to happen to them. That said, Jesse needed these wins. It made me happy to read him getting shit done. OTOH, Shaun got all the bad karma to balance it out, I guess, which in a way feels deserved--he was never just going to get way with murder, even if he technically did. The universe is still keeping tab. That said, I still worry that it's not over. Something did come loose in Shaun after Friday night, and he needs to confront that before it takes him down a dark path. For his family's sake as much as his own. Random side-note: Monica will forever be a bitch, I guess, but at least Cliff is there now to keep it together when she doesn't. I feel bad for him. I feel bad for that whole household, tbh. Here's hoping it won't all explode by Wednesday night lol. Oh well...

Yeah, I don't think Detective Harris is coming back for a chat with Shaun anytime soon. That's not the problem. Shaun crossed a line. Yes, Ethan was already dead and Kyle was halfway there when he found him, but it was still Shaun that ended his life. There's a weight to that choice and Shaun's already feeling it, and Jesse kind of is as well. And Shaun didn't mean for it, but, well, that's the consequence of his choice. I think it's more than just guilt. I think it's fear. Fear of himself. And Shaun's gonna need Jesse now to get through it, whether he recognizes that or not.

What does it say about me that I kinda like it when stories do that sometimes? 👀

Well, shit. Silly Shaun, thinking he won anything, when really he's just lucky that he didn't lose everything. I don't even blame Jesse for being mad--hell! I wouldn't blame him if he was scared! Shaun should be happy that he isn't, but he won't be, bc now he's scared himself, as he should be. Scared of himself, too, it seems, which is good. This should be a wake-up call. Also, the knife needs to go. Not just bc, y'kno, it's a murder weapon and whatnot, but bc Jesse deserves at least that much.

Sometimes your subconscious makes funny choices for you like that when you're writing. It's like a surprise plot twist from yourself lol.

UUUGH, this motherfucker! That's all I'm gonna say about that, for now. I need more time to gather my thoughts. Side-Note: The Kenny bit was hilarious. Exactly the kind of thing that was needed to break the tension of the chapter. Also, I totally didn't see it coming, but now that I think about it, it was kind of always there LMAO.

Well... that happened! At least everyone got a nice Friday morning before it all went to !@#$%& again! There is no shot Kyle's gonna stay in jail, is there? And then the question becomes who gets to whom first, bc there's no doubt in my mind that if Kyle gets out, he and his brother are gonna gun it straight toward Sam and Jesse, but Shaun's also not just gonna sit around and wait for them to show up. At least now there is a version of the way this plays out in my head where Shaun can sorta "get away with it," if you catch my drift, if it all boils down to him protecting Sam and Jesse from Kyle and Ethan. However, idk how I feel about Shaun getting the chance to live up to his reputation... even if it is to save Jesse. I'm glad Jesse and Sam didn't get to see the actual contents of the phone. That might have been too much to handle for both of them. Also, if there was an equivalent to the Razzies for mothering, Monica would for sure be in the lead to win one, HOLY!

No, no, I don't wanna guess it right, I wanna be surprised! That's half the fun! 😭

I know I said before that we already knew what Shaun would do when he learned what Kyle did to Sam (and Jesse), but now I'm starting to wonder if Jesse's actually the one whose reaction I should be worried about. The entire story he's been basically holding steady for the sake of his siblings and Brian, but with every new wrench thrown his way each new chapter, it's all been slowly chipping away at his capacity to keep it together, and, well... Realizing that he might be (in his own eyes) partially responsible for his little brother not only OD'ing, being repeatedly sexually assaulted by Kyle and Ethan, who he already suspects might have sexually assaulted him... And if he actually gets to see those videos... I'm just saying, there's only so much a person can take before they reach their breaking point, and Jesse's been barely holding on as is. ... Buuuut, OTOH, Shaun's a lot more stable and self-aware now than he was at the beginning of the story, so whatever happens to Jesse, I'd like to think Shaun will take care of him through it. P.S: Yes, I am a pathological over-analyzer. 😣

omg, I didn't even think about that damn bruise... There's a pretty good chance the doctors spotted it while treating Sam and would have asked Jesse about it. Plus, with CPS already being involved and everything... Jesus...

Mmm... Was that a bad reaction, or did Kyle give Sam a sample from a bad batch on purpose? I wouldn't put it past him to leave Sam with a little ticking time bomb in his pocket as a parting shot to Jesse, but... it's a bit too reckless of him, isn't it? I can only imagine how Jesse must be feeling, too. He was already torn up about giving Sam permission to go out and covering for him Monday night. Whatever Kyle's got coming for him is too kind for what he actually deserves, ngl.

Ngl, I have a pit in my stomach just thinking of how Jesse and Sam will react if/when they see those videos and realize what Kyle and his brother have done to them. We already know how Shaun will react, lol, so no need to wonder about that. I feel so bad for Sam after this chapter, tbh. It's not hard to see how alone he feels in the middle of the chaos of his family life, and why he's so desperate to break out of it. He's an absolute dumbass for chosing to go with Kyle, but I completely understand why he did. I just hope Jesse and Shaun can be there for him when he reaches his tipping point. It probably will get bad when he does. Anyway, thank you for writing this story. I just had to comment after reading this chapter. It's my current favorite from all of GA. 😄
