My first exposure to the literary talents of @mastershakeme and what exposure.

The two protagonists of this story, Colt and Noah, are each the polar opposite of the other. Colt, physically strong, fearless and brazen; Noah, physically fragile, fearful and unobtrusive. What develops between the two as the result of Colt’s observant nature and the horrific abuse of Noah, is a relationship where Colt the protector is drawn into Noah’s world of fear and resignation.

A gripping tale which had me on the edge of my seat for its entirety. Full of surprises and some truly vile secondary characters, including Colt's hideous sister, Rylee, and several of her equally hideous "friends".

Such a powerful story that involves the effect child  molestation/abuse produces and what brings about the breaking away from it because of the selfless act of placing bandaids on a scuffed knee.  So superbly written that follows the journey from the prison created for the child (Noah) and the person responsible for letting him experience acceptance, respect, and unconditional love via his first real friend (Colt).  A must read!

We join Colt who's temper got him expelled. So the family relocate to a small.

We are introduced to Noah, a small, quiet book reader.

The boys first meet when Noah has a cut, and Colt gets a first aid kit to fix him up.

There friendship develops into a loving relationship.

But Noah has a dark secret that he has been hiding for years and thinks no one would believe him.

Colt believes him and will do anything to protect Noah.

Read on to discover young love, dark secrets and much more.

Highly recommended.
