    Chapter 13

To be fair, my work on this is finished, aside from uploading the chapters. It's all on you guys now...

    Chapter 13

Just the first?? I must be slipping...
  3. I froze where I was and slowly raised my hands. This was definitely not good. Getting caught was not part of my plan. Assuming I survived long enough, Chris and I were clearly going to have to work out a better way for her to warn me. As my eyes adjusted to the light, I began to get a better look at my assailant. To my surprise, they turned out to be a small, slender Asian woman with long, glossy, black hair. And in her hands was a deadly-looking pistol, aimed directly at my chest.

    Chapter 12

Who? Me? Hiding something? Never! 😉 To be fair, you'll know all by the end of the book...

    Chapter 12

I can tell you that at least one of you guesses above is correct. (And Tad did tell Killian that Tad is short for Thaddeus.)
  9. When Razi blew through the door, I was afraid it was going to be the worst-case scenario. "I really wish you didn't lock this place up like fucking Fort Knox. I can't even let myself into my own home. Feels like a jail with all those damn locks. Oh—" His verbal barrage came to a screeching halt when he spotted me standing awkwardly by the chair. He quickly rearranged his expression into a semblance of pleasantry. "I didn't know we had company. Hello. Wait, I remember you. You're M

    Chapter 11

I think my favorite novel is (the renamed) And Then There Were None (and the 2015 ITV mini-series, which was excellent...amazing cast, with the beautiful Aidan Turner. Highly recommend, if you haven't seen it.). Geraldine McEwan from the TV series Marple is probably my favorite Miss Marple, but they're all so good.

    Chapter 11

I was a BIG Nancy Drew fan as a kid, though I discovered Agatha Christie first, which somehow led me to Nancy Drew. I read some of the newer (at the time) Hardy Boys books in the '90s, but was always a much bigger fan of Nancy, George and Bess. The very first "book" I ever wrote was a blatant Nancy Drew rip off when I was about 12. LOL Funny story...I do fundraising for a library system for my day job, and I recently planned an event with Erik Larson where I learned that he also was a big Nancy Drew fan, and didn't care for the Hardy Boys at all! Do you have a favorite Agatha Christie novel? Or adaptation?

    Chapter 11

@drsawzall @Summerabbacat @Seraph28 @Philippe The Detective Club is off to a strong start! A random killing wouldn't make for a very interesting mystery, now would it?

    Chapter 10

This made me laugh out loud.

    Chapter 10

    You know him so well...
  15. Saturday morning, I woke from violent dreams of medieval carnage — grimy, hollow-eyed men hacking, slashing, and clubbing each other to pieces on a gore-slick battlefield. I sat up feeling like I’d taken a flail to the skull. I had a suspicion that Judy's cryptic tea-leaf predictions of impending battles were to blame. They were permanently lodged in the back of my brain. Rolling out of bed with a groan, I stumbled to the bathroom. Not exactly the auspicious start I’d hoped for on day

    Chapter 10

    @Seraph28@VBlew I love Chris. She's a real firecracker.
  17. "W-what?" I must have heard him wrong. "What did you say?" "I said," he spoke slowly, over-enunciating each word, "I want to hire you." "To do what?" He sent a meaningful look in the direction of the room's other occupant, who was staring at the purse in her lap as if it was the most fascinating thing she'd ever seen. Just then, the door to the inner office swung open and the insurance company representative came out, followed closely by my boss. "We appreciate your work

    Chapter 9

Rizz is Gen Z/Alpha slang for charisma. Generally, it means romantic appeal or charm. Things continue to pick up momentum from here!
  19. I sat in my room that night, brooding — about what else? — Micah...and my gifts. The truth was, I didn’t want to deal with either of them right now. My go-to defense strategy could be summed up as Ostrich Syndrome: bury my head in the sand and pray the problem goes away. Spoiler alert — it never does. All it really does is give the problem time to circle around and sink its teeth into your exposed ass. I should know. I've been bitten more than once. Where Micah was concerned, we clearl

Thank you so much! That really means a lot. I did a lot of research and tried to make it as realistic as possible.

    Chapter 8

This one was always a bit of a slow burn start...but it has a big finish! 😉

Thank you, Ken! So happy to hear you're enjoying the series! Love to hear from you. 🖤

    Chapter 8

Love that phrase...and it sums it up perfectly.

    Chapter 8

The only thing I feel when reading your (far too often) spot-on theories is a light sweat on my forehead as I fervently hope my story is half as good as some of the ideas y'all come up with!
  25. The drive home felt every bit as long as I'd feared it would. Micah and I didn't arrive until late morning, and we barely spoke the entire time. When Micah dropped me off, I just mumbled, "I'll call you soon." I went inside, dropped my bag in my room and went in search of someone. "Where's Adam and Steve?" I asked after looking around and only finding Kane at home. He paused his video game. "At the B&B." "Both of them?" "Yeah, something happened last night." I c
