    Chapter 17

Don't worry! He doesn't get killed.

    Chapter 17

I'll admit I'm a little biased, but Killian is my favorite character I've ever created. Why else would I want to spend 25 years with him (so far)? He's my longest relationship! Too bad he only lives in my head.... 🤣 Indeed...only three chapters left. This story ends next week.

    Chapter 17

Killian is definitely slow to take advice...even when it's good advice. And especially when it's something he'd rather ignore. His gifts won't be ignored forever, though.

    Thank YOU!

    Chapter 17

I mean, he IS a teenager after all...

    Chapter 17

We'll learn a lot more about Micah in the next book.

    Chapter 17

But for how long? That's the question.

    Chapter 17

That's why I couldn't leave him in the grave. Seth sticks around for a while.
  9. Micah stood there for a second staring into my face. I tried to read his thoughts, but his eyes revealed nothing. He stepped away, then slowly backed up until his legs hit one of the deck chairs, where he sat down with a thud. Panic was rising in my throat. "What's wrong?" I asked, but I was pretty sure I already knew the answer. I'd blown it. I'd pushed too hard, too fast, and now he thought all I wanted was sex. "It's just—" "Don't. You don't have to explain. That was stupi

    Chapter 16

Somebody has been doing their Baltimore research... Novak should hire you. All I will say is that one of these guesses just might be not too far off the bulls-eye. Be sure to read The Truth of Yesterday, the next full book in the series, to find out which one... 😉 And thank you! Very glad those scenes struck a chord for you. 🖤

    Chapter 16

To be fair, Salisbury is a pretty affordable city, but yes...some suspension of belief is needed in that instance. LOL

    Chapter 16

Killian IS wound quite tightly, isn't he? (So was I at his age...religious trauma.)
  14. Josh Aterovis

    Chapter 1

I'm glad you found it too! And there will be another one after this, The Truth of Yesterday, plus a short story/novella called In the Angel's Keeping, in between...so be on the lookout!

    Chapter 15

How did you know?? His full legal name is Caleb Zachariah Cohen! (Not really, but if you makes you feel better...)
  16. At the sound of my voice, Caleb spun around, wide-eyed and startled. When he saw me standing there, his eyes instantly narrowed and he took on a defensive posture. "What the hell are you doing here?" he demanded. "Spying on me?" I shrugged. "I was looking for you and just happened to overhear your argument with Asher." "Cut the bullshit. You were eavesdropping." "Maybe I was. So what? I wouldn't have heard you lying to Asher if I hadn't." "I didn't lie." "You told h

    Chapter 15

At least you only have to wait until Monday...
  19. The next morning, I woke up feeling far more optimistic than I had the night before. Seth was the first thing that came to mind, and I was surprised by how vividly I remembered my dream. I took it as some kind of sign. Before heading to work, I made sure Micah's business card was safely tucked in my wallet. It took me all morning to gather enough courage to actually dial his number. I almost copped out and texted him instead, but I decided it was better to call. After I finally dialed, I st

    Chapter 14

This might end up as a pull quote on my website...
  22. Josh Aterovis

    Chapter 14

I write mysteries! It's sort of right there in the job description. I do try to play fair though, and the clues are there, and they will (hopefully) make sense when all is revealed...which won't be much longer. Only six chapters left!
  23. As I sat in the cold, sterile visitor room at the juvenile detention center, waiting for Caleb, I couldn't help but think I was spending far too much time in this place. If everything went according to plan, however, this could very well be my last visit. I waited several more minutes before the door opened and Caleb appeared. He took one look in my direction and turned away. "I don't want to see him," he snapped at the guard. "Caleb, wait. It's important." He paused but didn

    Chapter 13

It very much depends on the person. Some are quite fun and whimsical. Others are exhausting energy vampires. LOL
