  1. Chapter One I remember the drab olive garbed Marine Lieutenant. I remember my mother hugging me tightly as the tears flowed from her eyes. I remember how her body trembled and her sobbing increased as he reported my father had been killed by sniper fire while on a patrol mission. My mother’s anguish was further exacerbated knowing he was to be home from Vietnam in two months. My father’s death when I was three years old had no impact on me; my mother’s tears did. I tried to kiss her pain aw
  2. Teenage love story that entails acceptance, tolerance, forgiveness and love. One struggles to understand his sexuality and questions whether he is gay. Once a relationship is established their coming out and their interaction with family members and friends and how they deal with those whom aren't very accepting. The struggle to support a friend whose family rejects him for being gay. The story begins at early childhood and continues to their high school graduation.
  3. Thanks a lot Steph, I'll try that. I'll have to print these out first so I can follow along. It appears it is much like posting a link to your story in the "Annoucement" thread or site, or whatever it is called. I'm gonna' get all this down one day and then turn in my resume to Bill Gates. I'm sure he will be so impressed that he will snatch me up ere Steve Jobs finds me. Thanks, again, Steph.
  4. How does one add a link to their story when you post a response to a thread or whatever these things are called? I see most people have a whole bunch of stuff at the end of their responses. Stories they've written. Their favorite charities and cutsie sayings, not to mention graphics and pics. I'm serious, I do not know how to do it. I'm computer stupid. I need a dummies book to explain the dummy books for dummies when it comes to these wonderful modern marvels. Oh, and please, he begs of the gods: make the instructions detailed and/or simple.
  5. Hmmmm? But it is perfectly legitimate to say, Welcome or come to SC we are a 'Family Friendly State?' That is not offensive? Just asking.
  6. I have more of a physical and age criteria than racial. If we are speaking strictly about the body and not the important stuff, such as personality, demeanor, behavior, boy scout and 4H member qualities, I can't think of a race that I have found unattractive. I do have a fondness for Asians--Thais specifically. But then I'm baised as my BF is Thai.
  7. I visit numerous sites because I am a voracious reader. Awesomedude, CodeysWorld, PenguinHuggle, Mustard Jar, Nifty, where everything began. There are sites mentioned within the survey that I plan on visiting at some point, just haven't yet. I think all sites have their strong points and attractions. GA does have one of the more active forums, which I like. I may not participate too much and that is usually because someone--as brilliant as me--has already said what I would have. All the sites have their share of good authors. Some have younger writers who are getting started or whetting their whistles, so to speak. I'm constantly amazed by the quality of writing I am finding at these sites. My only challenge with GA--and this is not a complaint--is I find it hard to navigate and have gotten lost numerous times. Now you all quit your laughing. I am so very computer stupid.
  8. Hmmmm? Well, now, perfection in a relationship with myself seems and impossibility, let alone with someone else. I will say at one time I did entertain the idea of being in a relationship with two other guys. I immediately quick smoking that stuff and returned to my senses...I think. Seriously, I would not rule it out as a possibility, rare that it were. I have multiple friendships and have a balance in those. Before everyone jumps on the sex angle, the issue stated was to have a mutual agreement amongst all parties, if that was where it all hinged I would then say yes, I could do it. Would, is an altogether different matter. Interesting topic. I'll chew on it some more and respond with a more almost definitive answer. --Steven Keiths
  9. Well, it is November aka Gratitude month. My immediate thanks would have to go to Sharon aka the Goddess for her support and assistance in editing a story I am writing. I also have a few friends who have encourage me to come out of my writing closet and share some of the things I have written over the years. So, I'm thankful for their support and encouragement. Tom, Chris and Julie, thank you. And none of these things would have ever come to fruition if it hadn't been for so many people who help me stay clean and sober for the past 30 years. To them and a Higher Power my undying thanks. --Steven Keiths Gratitude is not a feeling; it's an action, a way of living.
  10. REC told me of a story he authored, Jake's Hand when I was visiting the AwesomeDude site. It is a phenomonal story along with the follow-up/sequel Jake's Side. I highly reccommend these writings. His character development along with his description of the area the story is set are beautifully done. I with anticipation wait for his next work(s). --Steven Keiths If you can't laugh at yourself; you're probably not funny.
  11. Hello all--I am a few days old as a member to this site. I just haven't gotten around to introducing myself. I came via the very circuitous route of Johnie's stories>Nifty>Awesome Dude>Codey's World, at least somewhat in that order. I was actually introduced to the site by REC, who writes one hell of a story . I also am a writer--until recently closeted--to writing only, he says to clarify. I am working on a story at this time and have others I may dig out of the closet (what is it with the closet?). As you can surmise, I not only talk to myself, I type to myself too  . I look forward to reading some good fiction and perhaps will get the opportunity to contribute. --Steven Keiths If you can't laugh at yourself; you're probably not funny!
