“Which position do you want…” “Any position is fine—I don’t really know,” Nate answered, eyes a little uncertain. Damn… he’s so cute! “Do you want to sit? If you sit, you can control it yourself—if it hurts, you can stop,” I suggested. “Hmmm… but I want you to do me,” he said, blushing. “Hey, Nate, do you realize how fucking adorable you can be?” I leaned in and kissed his lips. “I’m always adorable—it’s just that I don’t show it much,” he grinned. “Ughh! You’r

I stood frozen, as if I’d been punched in the face—though Connor hadn’t touched me. Just those few words hit me so hard I could feel my face go numb. “Yeah! Toby really does like you! You didn’t mishear me!” Connor repeated. “And I swear I don’t feel anything for you whatsoever!” “Toby… Toby likes me?” I choked out. “So that night he… he really did something to me?” “I don’t know if he did,” Connor’s voice softened. “Do you think he did? What did he do?” “I… I don’t know what

My friends and I managed to avoid talking about that night for almost a full week. During that time, Toby and Connor acted basically normal—though I sometimes caught Connor looking a little stiff around me, and Toby wasn’t as touchy as he used to be. But I didn’t really care about them all that much, since I was pretty certain I was the one who’d been messed up, not them. Meanwhile, the awkwardness of keeping it from Nate slowly faded, too. Everything in our group was settling back into pla

I woke up with a pounding headache, as if my skull were splitting in two. It took me a moment to remember that I’d gotten plastered with Connor last night and ended up crashing in Toby’s dorm room—because when I glanced to my left, there he was asleep beside me. I pinched my temples and rolled over, fumbling for my phone—but then remembered its battery had died last night. Why don’t I ever carry a power bank? I sat up slowly—any sudden movement sent pain slicing through my head—and realized

The next morning my fever had dropped almost completely. I was still spotting a little blood, but it was much less than before, and apart from a slight residual temperature I felt almost myself again. So we stuck to our original plan—at dawn Nate and I climbed Camelback Mountain, watching the sun burn away the chill before heading back down into the city. Joel arranged us a late breakfast at Matt’s Big Breakfast, the little diner Nate swore by, and after that we wandered through Roosevelt Row’s

“Ev… Ev!” “Huh…?” I groggily woke up. “We’re at the hotel.” “Oh… already?” I rubbed my eyes and stretched out. “I’m freezing, Nate.” He looked at me with concern. “Your temperature’s through the roof, Ev. I’m really worried.” “I’ll be fine—just need to rest a bit and I’ll bounce back.” “Let him be,” Joel called from outside the car. “His body knows best. If he wants to sleep instead of seeing a doctor, let him sleep.” I stepped out, slightly irked by Joel’s blu

“Does it hurt…?” I shook my head. “N-no… it doesn’t hurt… it’s just tighter than when you used the soap earlier.” “Well, this time I slid all the way in, knuckle-deep.” “All the way?” “Mm.” He answered, curling his finger in gentle circles, and I jumped at the sensation. “Aahh…ahh…” I squeezed my eyes shut. “Hah—hah—ugh…!!” “Is it painful?” “No, no pain… it just feels… strange.” He bent down and pressed a soft kiss to my lips. “I love you, Ace.” “I lo

Nate ducked his eyes. “I can let you do me first. And if you don’t mind… I want to do you, too.” I wasn’t the only one blushing like crazy—my heart was pounding so hard I could barely think. I replayed his words over and over, asking myself what I really wanted. Thinking it through with my brain was hard, but my body was already nodding its answer under my shorts. Just the thought of being with him made me instantly harder than I’ve ever been. “I should sleep now,” I murmured, pul

“Okay, so we’re taking a round-trip flight, Evan,” Nate said over the phone, his voice crackling with excitement. “I’ve booked our round‑trip flights already. Joel handled their own tickets, and Nolan booked our hotel downtown Phoenix—so we’re all set. You can just relax.” I laughed, brushing back a strand of hair. “Sounds perfect. But when you say ‘our hotel,’ does that include Joel and Nolan, too?” “Just us for the whole stay—one suite for the two of us. Joel and Nolan are crashing a

We stared at each other in silence. No words came for a moment. Nate’s cheeks were pink, but his eyes had shifted—from lust to something hesitant, nervous, unsure. I caught his shoulder before he could speak again. “You want to use your mouth on me, but I have to do it back to you later, right?” I asked. “I—if you don’t want to, it’s fine,” he stammered, “I guess I was just horny and a little drunk… but on second thought, maybe we shouldn’t go that far. I don’t want us to—” I pres

And HAPPY NEW YEAR, everyone! 😝

After my last final, I packed up my things at the dorm and went straight home that evening. Once I got there, I ate, showered, and slept so deeply that I didn’t wake up until nearly four o’clock the next afternoon. When I finally turned my phone back on—it had been off since exam week—I saw missed calls from several friends and messages inviting me out for celebratory drinks. But honestly, I didn’t think I could keep up: I’d spent nights on end cramming, while they’d never had to pull all-nighte

As soon as our lips met, I instinctively parted mine to take his tongue as it darted into my mouth. Nate lifted a hand to stroke my hair, pulling me closer, while I placed my hand on his cheek, caressing it gently. Our breaths grew ragged, and our kisses deepened, tongues probing each other hungrily. I drew in a deep breath—then pushed his head back. “Wait… wait, Nate,” I panted. He looked at me with pleading eyes. “Why…?” “You’re… turned on, aren’t you?” I blurted. He flushe

“Break’s coming up—any plans, Ev?” Nate asked one afternoon as we studied at my place. “I’m not sure… We haven’t even started finals yet.” “They’re next week. After that, we’ll hardly see each other. Figured I’d ask now.” “You sound like you’re inviting me somewhere.” “I am. I have relatives in Phoenix, Arizona. My mom’s family is from there—and Nolan’s mother has roots there too. His grandparents are still living there. Want to go?” “Phoenix? That’s a long trip from Sea

After returning from Santa Monica, Nate and Gigi broke up for good. Although they never said it out loud, I knew he was deeply hurt and wouldn’t get over it easily. He started coming to hang out at my apartment nearly every evening after class. Some nights, he even stayed over with me. I felt sorry for him—I knew he was lonely, and Gigi was his first love. Getting over a first heartbreak isn’t easy, especially since he had envisioned a future with her. Aside from going to class, eating

“I was shocked. I was stunned. I never thought something like this would happen to me and I never imagined someone like Gigi could do this. But then again, maybe it’s not that weird, since we’re so far apart, right? If she meets someone better, of course she’d want to talk to him—as an option—that’s normal.” “Woah, woah, hang on, Nate—take it easy,” I said. “First, tell me exactly what happened. How do you know Gigi cheated on you? Are you even sure?” He let out a soft chuckle and then

The next morning, after finishing my last exam, I couldn’t wait to call Noelle—I was so relieved and excited. But instead, she told me she wanted to break up. She said our schedules never aligned, and that before we became a couple we’d been just friends—and maybe that had been the best fit for us all along. It felt like lightning struck my chest. I had no idea how long she’d been thinking about this. It all seemed so sudden I could barely process it. But everything she said was true. I hadn’t g

Besides helping me get in shape, Nate became our lifesaver once midterms rolled around—especially in math. I can’t imagine how the others and I would’ve fared without his tutoring. “After midterms,” Nate closed his notebook, “you guys are going to hit way worse stuff. This was just basic calculus—don’t lose hope, okay?” “Ughhh,” Connor flopped back and stretched. “Thanks so much, Nate,” Mike said. “We’d be screwed without you.” “Hell yeah,” said Ryan. “Meanwhile I’m still com

We arrived last—Nate introduced me to three of his bandmates and four of his engineering friends. Since we were all freshmen, they were welcoming and easy to chat with. After a while of eating, I felt like I’d known them for years. When we’d finished and paid, Nate’s bandmates invited us to go drinking, but his two engineering buddies, Nolan and Joel, had to head back. “Those two seemed really tight,” I leaned toward Nate. “They’ve known each other forever, right?” “Yeah,” he smil

We arrived at my dorm just after midnight because Nate first had to go back to his room and grab some clothes for tonight and tomorrow—despite my telling him he could just use mine. He insisted he didn’t want to impose, and it’d only took a minute. Then, instead of heading straight up to my room, he even took me for another late-night scooter ride around campus first. “Feeling better after that midnight cruise?” he winked as I climbed off. “Yeah—refreshed,” I smiled warily. “Let’s go i

Time flew until finally it was the day of the intramural games—what the schedule called Freshman Day & Freshman Night. By day, I had to suit up for basketball, win each round to advance. By evening, I had to head to the student union auditorium for the King & Queen pageant. But with my calendar slammed until almost midnight and fatigue piling up from days of non-stop activity, I didn’t feel a shred of excitement or nerves for either game or pageant. All I wanted was for today to be over.

After getting through the first two weeks of the new semester at university, I started to get used to classes, dorm life, club activities, and freshman orientation hazing. Luckily, before the semester officially began I’d spent about a month in a foundation program, so I already knew my classmates, upper-class mentors, and my major better than many who didn’t have to take the prep courses over break. Sometimes being just a little less sharp than the standard can actually give you a bit of a

The morning light filtered through the linen curtains, soft and golden. I could hear Forest giggling faintly from the living room—probably trying to bribe Dailan into letting him eat strawberries before breakfast. Again. I didn’t move from the couch just yet. From where I sat, coffee warm in hand, I could see it all: the soft toys piled in the basket, the worn copy of Goodnight Moon left open on the rug, the tiny sneakers by the door. Our home. Not just a house. Not a chapter writ

Sunday morning was slow and golden. I’d stopped by Dailan’s condo early, bringing along Forest and a bag of groceries. His wounds were healing well, but I still didn’t want him pushing himself too soon—especially not for something like breakfast. So I took over his little kitchen, frying eggs and cutting fruit while he sat cross-legged on the couch with Forest cradled against his chest. Dailan made silly faces, whispered nonsense into Forest’s ear, and laughed every time the baby cooed
