Matt Everest and Kitt Wellington have been inseparable since middle school—best friends growing up across the street, sharing summers at the lake and quiet dreams about the future. Matt is the golden quarterback with a clear path ahead; Kitt is thoughtful, driven, and quietly carrying feelings he doesn’t dare name.

As they grow older, friendship deepens into something neither of them fully understands—or feels safe enough to confess. Family expectations, small-town pressure, and the fear of losing each other keep them silent, even as the bond between them becomes impossible to ignore.

This one will make you cry, probably make you mad, and a little frustrated which to me has all the makings of something worth reading.  It's a story of self discovery, finding identity and holding on to what matters through adversity and sheer determination.

A story of discovery, devastation, significant personal growth and ultimately triumph against what could easily have been insurmountable odds.

As noted by @weinerdog, the pace was plodding at times, but I thought it suited the situation and the emotions experienced by the two main characters, teenage boys no longer children but not yet adults, both uncertain in their own skin, even without the pressure of circumstances over which they had limited or no control.

This is the story of Matt and Kitt, best friends, inseparable since middle school.

But this story will make you angry, cry and frustrated.

It's a story of self discovery, finding identity and holding onto what matters.

This story has everything you need for an amazing read, so get reading.

Wonderfully written story about an issue that our kind experiences .more often than others.

Raw emotions spill, good values (true Christianity, or simply the Golden Rule) rings throughout but is not mentioned.

Some things can't be boiled like blue crabs. Lots has to simmer. This story simmers or grows just like it might have felt for the two young lovers to live through.

Like painting a karen's walls.

"Ma'am wait until it cures before you say I got you the wrong color." See you at 7am tomorrow. Pinks and yellows were the worst. Have your color-wheel handy!😱

I have deliberately be vague in this review lest I reveal too much of the story. But what happens in this story happens in a lot of GA stories and sadly we hear of this IRL also. This story conveys and helps you emphasize with that situation. The plot develops on a slow pace which some readers commented on but I believe that was the right way to do this very nuanced and you understand and relate to all perspectives.Highly recommended just be patient
