    Escape from Home

    > Who knew that a double ‘l’ in Spanish is pronounced like a ‘y’ < In 1965, my Spanish teacher taught us that "ll" pronounced like a ‘y’ is Mexican, and Spaniards pronounce it like "ly". Adam must had never read anything about pronouncing Spanish. If Spanish as a 2nd language was taught in his schools, it may have been in some of the grades that he skipped.
  2. Thank you again for sharing. Maybe it's an Indianna thing. In other parts of the U.S.A., while a driver's license at age 16 is a rite of passage, not all boys are rich enough or come from rich enough families to afford the cost, the possible cost of training courses, and an additional motor vehicle in the household. In many states, having a 16 year old child at home with a driver's license will drastically increase a parent's motor vehicle insurance premiums. All of these are legitimate reasons to delay getting a child's license.

    A Proper Sendoff

Thank you for sharing. If that suburban Unitarian church is the same sect as the Unitarian Universalist Association, it isn't Christian. As the name implies, they believe in a singular deity, not a Trinity that includes Christ.
  4. I'm reminded of Randall Garrett's Lord D'arcy, who did not have any magical Talent. but did have the Talent "to go from an unwarranted assumption to a foregone conclusion, without covering the ground inbetween". Thanks for sharing.
  5. Can anyone squash (or horrors, confirm) a rumor that Mr. Ellison has died?
  6. I sent this message to our wonderful author's E-mail address: Hi, Welcome back. May I post the newer chapters 5 and up as messages to the Group Forum? Jim Boylan
  7. Thanks very much for the news. I wonder if it's legal and right to copy the new chapter to this Group? That's the closest I can think of to having it on the GhostRyder site.
  8. They seem to be hidden in Nifty Adult-Youth, including Chapter 57.
  9. For even more background information about "Attack & Response", there are at least 2 additional chapters of "Somerset Farms" (55 & 56) on "Nifty" that aren't on the GhostRyder site.
  10. I just noticed that the dust jacket featured on this site for "Boys of Aurora" is titled "The Boys of Quadra", and the links to the chapters are in the "BQ" series.
  11. A place holder for Chapter 2 has appeared, but it is linked to the same URL as Chapter 1.
  12. There seem to be a few more "books" or groups of chapters in the Aurora series. How many have been published in print?
  13. I haven't heard anything this year, but he did write in 2006 from Florida, and now they're having forest fires and other calamities down there. I hope he didn't get burnt up!
  14. Happy New Year, I don't want to rush you, but I am looking forward to the complete hard cover edition. How can I get the copy I buy autographed?
  15. Has the contest deadline been extended? I really like the KK series.
  16. I would like to read about some kids who like being with other males, but may not want to "go all the way" in bed. There was one Kid who bit the penis that tried to feed him. However, there are many degrees of gayness, especially in younger Kids who may not believe all that they have been told in the straight world about what goes on at the Batemans' house.
  17. I voted for "More of..." My choice would be more visiting military. One of the visiting officers (a grown up Army brat, I think) told the brothers that he had heard some astonishing things from the Kids. How about a chapter when a soldier or officer repeats this line to the readers (and his fellow military), adding "and then I SAW some astonishing things", going on to describe one of the weekend encounters from the soldiers' point of view. By now, the Kids have some experience, so it might be time for one of the earlier visiting Marine groups to return at their own request, knowing full well WHO they will be dealing with, but not what new tricks the Kids will have waiting! I like it when the Kids and the military earn each others' respect, and treat everyone civily as soldiers and men. Could Jap have a rematch on the firing range where, after explaining what particular gun he usually shoots, lets the other guy use Bert? The 2 shooters would explain to others that this time, they just want to know for themselves who is better, but they do have some personal money at risk, just to prevent either from "letting" the other win.
  18. I do agree that a proposed chapter 49 with graphic gore is just going too far FOR THIS STORY. It would change the tone of the series. So far, you have a story that won't need much editing to become (in my opinion) a print book suitable for adults and mature teens in understanding bookstores and communities. I can enjoy a gory, graphic, gay story, but think that it should be a new and different seies than the teen-aged KK.
  19. I voted for "Unit Divers", because I am a S.C.U.B.A. diver, and I'm curious what Yakima River diving is like. Are there train and ship wrecks? Do the fish let you touch and feed them? Most of the other choices also interest me. Legal issues and the relations and interactions of the Unit with the outside world and its people are also interesting. It's nice to escape for a while to a place where kids have a better time than I did at their age. I like plot, suspense, and continuity more than gratuitous sex. I've already read the Gay Sex Story, so the excerpts that show up in "Kombat Kids" should have something to do with the story and should not be able to easily stand alone. I do want to learn more about the characters. I wonder if any of your loyal readers will appear in the story in some form. Eventually you will get to the Fall 2004 Turkey Hunt or Shoot, but I hope that isn't the end. Will the characters from "Nature Walk", now on Nifty and ASSGM, visit your World? jimboylan Lower Bucks County, Pa.
  20. (above condensed by jb)I hope that perforated mask in your profile isn't because you kissed your sword "George"!
  21. Where should we talk about Mr. Ellison's "Aurora" series? And do they have anything to do with the "Quadra"? I think I encountered his stories on another site (before it was hijacked and became "Pay"). But somehow, I kept searching for "The Phantom Wanker of the `Quadra'"!
  22. I hate it when... the authors on this Group who write more interesting stories than I can, can't write new chapters as fast as I can read them! Keep up the good work, guys. Thank you.

    Puns

    > Some of these are real groaners ... < Luckily you're male, so no one should say "Get thee to a punnery", the one with the high stone walls!
  24. There is the old joke about the gay who called his penis "Richard" becasue he thought it was too big and important to be given an informal nickname. I wonder what the Gunners Mates in this Group think of the Brittish 2-part "screw guns" described in R. Kippling's "Jungle Book"?
  25. On my railroad, the farmers get the phosphoric acid and the soda pop companies get Ferric Sulphate, also an acid. It must be a regional thing.
