It makes sense: that's the reason why it is so good and touching: you know what you write about! Actually, I will never forget what author Isaac Bashevis Singer said in the interview he gave right after he received the Nobel Price in Litterature in 1978. He was asked what made a good author: "write what you know, based on the experiences from your own life", was his reply. I do believe he was right. That touches the heart.
