  1. Mark, I don't have kids, but I eat almost all my meals in restaurants so I have a pretty good sampling of what parents are up to in terms of disciplining their kids these days. I don't see many of them trying to keep their kids in line when they're out in public. Granted there are some restaurants, like the local burger place with a wall of games for the kids where behavior rules are loser than at more formal places. I'm OK with some rambunctious at those sorts of places. But when I'm going out for a good steak dinner I don't wanna have to deal with a screaming kid at the next table. I think it's reasonable to expect that at an expensive restaurant where I have to wear something other than my usual jeans and t-shirts. sat8997, I'm glad to see there are some good parents left in the world. If your kids are like me they'll appreciate what mommy taught them as they get older.
  2. Nonsense, Mark. My parents would never have let me get away with the rude behavior so many parents let their kids get away with these days. It's gotten to the point where you can't even enjoy a meal in a nice restaurant without some kid running around the place shouting at the top of his lungs while his parents sit there seemingly oblivious to it all. Too many parents want to be their kid's best friends instead of their parents. That wasn't the case in the 60s when I was growing up. James, sadly you're spot-on with your proposed amendments.
  3. I decided to stop at one thing, the length of the relationship. Because apart from the stuff you collect over the years all of it is equally important to me. And without length of time I can
  4. This was one of the first stories I read on this site and I went on to read everything you've written so far because your writing is just that good. Almost needless to say I was very disappointed to find that Between Lives remained in limbo. Here's to hoping feedback aka whining from fans ( ) will encourage you to find the time to work on it some more. I see there's a new chapter of Truth in Advertising posted so I must go read that. Maybe as I get more comfortable here I'll start to comment more in the forums. This is only my second post. Thank you for all the time you've put into these stories.
  5. Thanks for the welcome. Some people are addicted to drugs or alcohol. I'm addicted to the smell of Tide and Bounce. In a funny turn of fate, despite my addiction I manage to stay clean. It's good you have Dave. Although, if you didn't I'm sure you wouldn't exactly be screwed. You'd just have to do your own laundry. It beats wearing dirty, smelly clothes.
  6. This is my first post here. Hello everyone. For some reason I can't vote in the poll so here's what I would have chosen. My favorite domestic job; it's not a chore, laundry, coincides with my fondness for freshly laundered clothes. My least favorite chore, cleaning the bathroom, is the main reason I hired a maid who comes every other week. I love a clean bathroom, but hate making it that way myself. She does everything for me except laundry. She's tried doing laundry, but nobody does it, especially the ironing and folding, the way I like it.
