See the site: hell in a handbasket :king: Snow Dog P.S. As a 1st generation American, I am also proud of my Canadian heritage

Much like any other country, the Canadian healthcare system is no panacea for the sick or the healthy. :king: Snow Dog

considering how the brain grows, develops, learns, and accomodates, there is no such thing as useless learning, particularly if it is hard. In the modern world the only purpose for an undergraduate degree is to prove to a prospective employer that you can wade through the crap and stick with something to completion. Furthermore, it is something that (in most cases) you earn and can never be taken away from you. A well rounded university education creates a thinking member of society who can contribute beyond their basic economic means. If all you want to learn is what you are most interested in, there are most likely (trying to recall the German education system) several vocational or trade schools that will give you the education you want, in a quick fashion, without all the 'other' stuff, and get you into the workforce quickly. You know if you are where you should be, if you are, grin and bear it ; if you are not where you should be, stop wasting everyone's time and energy and find your right place. :king: Snow Dog P.S. and I'm not gonna go near the waistline thing

Dan, you're bragging again. Get back to writing , or whatever it is you do in your "spare" time :king: Snow Dog

I'll take a butch/masculine hug from you or Arbour anyday Snowie. Vic <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I was trying to use that sensitive side I'm told I have to try to get someone to give you one :king: Snow Dog
-
I think somebody needs a hug ... Conner, Michael, CJ ... I think vic needs a hug ... he's over here, somebody, vic is right here and need a hug. :king: Snow Dog

You really should get business cards made up. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'm sorry, in my line of work we don't use business cards. If you need to know what I do, or need my services, you will already know who I am and where to find me. :axeman: :king: Snow Dog the Domaholic Danderthal

'Post Whore' Sounds soooo provincial... I think 'Forum Queen' is more appropriate and stately. So 'Snow Dog the Forum Queen Domaholic Danderthal' <{POST_SNAPBACK}> 'Queen' ... I don't think that word has EVER been used to describe me before, well, at least to my face anyway. :king: Snow Dog
-
No, what? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No depth perception. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Actually, in humans, depth perception is about 85% visual cues, and only like 15% stereoscopic vision. :king: Snow Dog the Domaholic Danderthal

I just noticed that a mere 55 days after joining, I am now in the top 10 overall posters, followed closely by Messrs. Vic and Arbour (who have been here twice as long) Maybe thats why all my clothes and dishes are dirty. :king: Snow Dog the Domaholic Danderthal

If you think something silly like you now having vision will deter my destined rise to power then you truly are blind. :king: Snow Dog the Domaholic Danderthal

I agree. If I ever face a jury, they might as well be hung. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Even the women? Are you hoping for some packin' dykes? :king: Snow Dog

For some reason I feel I am the wrong person to be saying this, but it's that attitude that is the problem. I'm not a politically active person by my basic nature, but I seldom fail to speak my opinions when they are strong. As I see it, there are only 2 real problems with our criminal justice system. The first and largest are those created by the juries. Prosecution and defense lawyers only do what works with juries, the carfully pick and cater to the (presumed) psychology of the jury. Thus, getting your ass on a jury is the best thing you can do to help repair the system. We all laugh at the people too stupid to get out of jury duty and then complain that jurors are too stupid to see the big picture and understand what reasonable doubt really means. Every time you get out of jury duty, you are placing someone stupider than you on a jury. The second real problem are the judges and the highly political nature of the selection of judges. While not always in your direct control, there are places where you make a difference. I don't do political rallies, I don't campaign for elected officials, but I vote. I vote in each and every election, no matter how small. I am concerned about the people serving my local school district, I'm concerned about county judges, I'm concerned about who is on my city council and local water district. I hold incumbents to a higher standard than newcomers because they have a record as well as their political babble. I believe that nothing changes unless the people making the decisions change. I don't want someone serving for 20 years in any one position at the local, state, or national level. Yes I am embarassed by and angry at our federal (and my state) government, but I feel more like someone who's supervisor always says something assinine in a high level meeting. I want the supervisor gone and someone competent in their place. It isn't the system that is broken, it is the individuals who don't vote or don't do so in an informed fashion that are the problem. I will never be ashamed to have been born in the United States or of it's people. I have been and will be ashamed of the government that we elected. If we allow the shame of a bad choice to lead to the condemnation of the entire structure then you may as well tell the world that our brand of democracy is as much a failure are any other form of governemnt. Why should anyone from another contry ever embrace or strive for a more democratic society if those people who have it can only see failure in a bad choice. Would it not seem better to have no choice and no personal responsibility when a bad choice would so discourage you that you feel shame about your country. As I said, I'm probably the worng person to be saying this, but that's what I think. :king: Snow Dog

For years now I have done my unwavering best to avoid serving on a jury, and I have lots of good and honest reasons for not taking the time, but with the result of this case, Blake and the 1st Heidel (Orange County Gang Rape) trail, I now understand that it goes beyond responsibility and reaches the level of DUTY for people with a spine and above average intelligence to serve on a jury. So, from now on, I will not avoid jury duty. :king: Snow Dog the Domaholic Danderthal

I believe it was 7 days (1 full week, plus a partial first and last day) for 32 hours. I never said the jury returned the 'wrong' verdict for this case. I got to follow it daily on my drive home from one of the best trial reporters I have ever heard, and I knew the verdict was obvious. My only hope was for a hung jury on some of the counts. :king: Snow Dog
-
This is starting to get to me ... the whole 'innocent until proven guilty' invovles the govenment and the government's ability to deprive a person of liberty and property. It has absolutely nothing to do with how individuals treat one another, just as the 1st Amendment does not apply in the parent/child relationship or the workplace environment. Regardless of what the results of a jury trial says, I am free to say it is my opinion that the man has molested boys, and probably this boy. I am not the governement, I cannot deprive Mr. Jackson of freedom or property, and unless he can prove the statement is false I am free from slander (lible). That said, he is also free to live his life and pursue his career as he sees fit, provided he stays within the bounds of the law and away from any of the minor children in my family (although being of European descent, my family doesn't quote fit his target demographic). Just my opinion :king: Snow Dog
-
I think the problem with that count was that as charged, it was for the purpose of molesting them, thus, if the jury believed he didn't do it to try to molest them (or didn't do it) then they had to come back NG. :king: Snow Dog

I quote from Navigator's blog Did I miss this fiancee thing somewhere? :king: Snow Dog

Happy Birthday Vic! Almost didn't log on today and I would have felt bad if I missed it. Keep up the good work. (future) :king: Snow Dog the Lukaholic Danderthal

I hate to sound all 'rainbowy' and all, but let's go through this... Yea, that can have an immediate suck factor because of all the crap that goes along with it, but ... Hey, look at the bright side, you didn't have to buy a new tire right away. The deer was just trying to say 'hi' but got a bit confused, no harm/no foal (okay, it wasn't a horse, but close enough) This type of thing should always be turned around to be fun at the expense of the employee, but your mindset was all wrong. This is payback for the home improvement store thing, guys always get the ticket. However, the real problem that set up everything else was ... Once that happens, the is NO repairing the day. :king: Snow Dog
-
Sounds like karmic response for you considered opposition for my destined rise to power. I guess I'm lucky, I was told at a young age that I have 'disgustinly perfect' eyes Too bad about my teeth though (future) :king: Snow Dog the Lukaholic Danderthal

Umm ... let me think ... no thank you. I always try to avoid making martyrs (especially of myself). Executing political prisoners after a 'proper trial' What was that name again? :king: Snow Dog <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Damn, there hasn't been a party like that in a couple of thousand years. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Actually, that party was pretty small, it is the anniversaries that seem to be popular in western society. I think the parties thrown by Atilla were much more .. um .. 'enthusiastic.' :king: Snow Dog
