    Chapter 38

Lol - I couldn't resist putting it in - especially after one of my searches (the Urban Dictionary) came up with a meaning of 'splendor, magnificence, suave pageantry' which certainly seemed rather apt. As for real meaning, there doesn't seem to be one, and finding it spelt as 'pompatus', 'pompetous'. and 'pompitous' adds to the puzzle. it sounds good though

    Chapter 38

Thank you Lol Maybe Maynor may be the bee-all and end-all in his own mind? - or maybe he thinks he's a Rear Admiral rather than a red admiral?

    Chapter 38

All these energy types, Opal energy, Nexus energy, Ruby energy - and now the new white energy? What can it all mean? And as for Ranevargar - he says he's only just starting to recover his abilities???

    Chapter 38

'Convergence of minds' - I love this phrase. Yes - the action could very well be 'out of this world'.

    Chapter 38

Chapter 38. Kieran carefully reached through the subtle pathway of the Pearl to the buzzing surface thoughts of Maynor’s immobile captive and sent a gentle recognition signal. "Ranevargar?" Shock jarred every train of racing thought. "Who speaks? ... Through these impossible shields? ... Do I know you? ... A friend?" "Yes, a friend. You can’t remember our strategy but here is the special mind-key you gave me. Use it to recover your lost memories." "Lost memories? So Mayn

    Chapter 37

Family matters required a trip to the other side of our Aussie continent and spoiled my goal of close to weekly posting. Sorry, but life sometimes sets different priorities for us. I'm home again though and I started work with chapter 38 last night. - hopefully to post tomorrow or, at the latest, the day after.

Lol - Prescience resides within you DD.

    Chapter 37

Oh my! Thanks for posting the song, Philippe. I didn't have recognition when you posted just the lyrics, but hearing it this time pushed all my old-timer nostalgia buttons when it got to the chorus.

    Chapter 37

Ranevargar's reason for creating Maurice was an attempt to combat the disorder and bring life to the Unordered Realm, an attempt which backfired disastrously because Maurice couldn't cope with the disorder. That obstacle is now gone. 'The Opal responded with a call of its own, a call unavailable and unused for a long, long time.' It's my reading that it was the Opal that accessed the Nexus rather than Kieran himself, though with the strength of connection between them I guess that's splitting hairs. Hmm?

    Chapter 37

Leaving those critical memories locked in Kieran's mind has compounded the puzzles of the second hand information he gets from Maynor, his only source. 'The shift' - I'm not quite sure what you mean???

    Chapter 37

'the wise of old' - that has a peculiar and distinctive sound to it. Hmm! We've heard how much it's meant to Woorawa to make that contact with his uncle. If he can get back to Australia I'm sure the meeting would be significant.

    Chapter 37

Lol - I had to look up 'Muffuletta' - sure sounds like you want Maynor sliced and diced!!

    Chapter 37

Chapter 37. "My Opal is a gift from Woorawa’s people. Ranevargar looked at it closely and he says it’s partly like a Realm Stone but a whole lot of mystery.” "Woorawa’s people?" When images of the gifting ceremony at the Valley of the Eagles transferred, Maurice's realisation that this was outside the Realms prompted a series of questions that had to be cut off. "Tell me about your other companions." "We’ll talk later. We need to wake your body." Kieran laughed and envel

Yikes! Even more questions to ponder.

    Chapter 36

Thank you. Maurice seems to be a pretty significant player too.

    Chapter 36

So many questions! And yes, the Opal and its interaction with Kieran is fraught with mystery. Woorawa's people were so wary of it they guarded it through the years without attempting to make any use of it. Hmm! And the storms are just a side effect.

    Chapter 36

wow! Powerful logic indeed! BUT Ponder on this this dear reader. Does logic hold in Faerie the same way it does in the human world? Lol - as I said with the previous comment - stay tuned.

    Chapter 36

The issue of power does seem to be turning up in different guises. Surely Ranevargar wouldn't send Kieran and co into danger? Hmm! He was wrong about power requirements. Hm! He said nothing about that weird barrier. Hm! The real Maurice is definitely not the Maurice he displayed in the companions' minds. Maybe he's misjudged the situation? -- stay tuned.

    Chapter 36

I've said this before but - Wow! So many possibilities.

    Chapter 36

Can a cliffhanger be ugly? Hmm -well, maybe!
  21. Palantir

    Chapter 36

Cliffhanger!!! Lol - just think of it as anticipation for what might happen next. No hot water - just a steamy relaxing spa.

    Chapter 36

Chapter 36. Kieran gathered his own startled wits, brightened the inner chamber even more, and reached according to the first of Ranevargar's instructions. "Look again, Rhys. It is Maurice." "No way! Ranevargar put Maurice in our minds and that thing’s twice as big ... It's solid rock, and half of it’s frozen in ice." "It is him, Rhys. The cavern ends back there." "But! ..." Rhys’s splutter of disbelief changed to silence while he shared the group’s awe and struggled to accep

    Chapter 35

    So many possibilities.

    Chapter 35

You're so right, M. Ranevargar has shown himself to be a wily old fellow, and his lack of mention of a barrier that would have stymied the whole rescue operation if it wasn't for Woorawa's heritage knowledge hardly seems like a simple memory slip. Maybe if, for some reason, Uirebon the Lore Master, directed his scholars to research the ancient archives, information about Dead World might reveal something of interest/value?

    Chapter 35

Yes, it's amazing how Kieran ended up with such a sterling group. Could it be leadership? Maybe it's like attracting like (lol that can be taken in more than one way). Maybe necessity? Probably a mix of those - and who knows what else?
