    Chapter 26

Ranevargar certainly has a different viewpoint towards Widderkin - but with all his concern focused on his own Realm, the machinations of the High Court are probably of little importance to him.

    Chapter 26

Next post is tomorrow at the latest. The unordered monsters are all Ranevargar's doing. The High King's responsibility is to manage the Chaos incursions which bedevil all of Faerie. Well! Ranevargar was already worn down till K and R helped him, so worn down that he couldn't make portals without the Realm Trees. With so many possibilities I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

    Chapter 26

Hmm! - worry is warranted. You're right, they have NO IDEA what is in fact ahead of them.
  4. Palantir

    Chapter 26

Lol - I must say that I really enjoyed this comment.
  5. Palantir

    Chapter 26

Yes, it's a very interesting contrast between Ranevargar's growing concern about both the amount of energy and where it comes from, and Keiran's easy come/easy go attitude to it. And you're right about the preparations.

    Chapter 26

Chapter 26. "Build each step carefully and only trigger the translation after I have checked everything, Kieran." The whole group was dressed and full of expectation for Kieran to take them to their next location, a small Grove surrounded by rainforest at the base of a low mountain range. The laughter and happy excitement of their antics in the oasis were now subdued by Kieran's change to quiet preoccupation with making sure he was ready for this first independent portal, and they were w
  7. Wow, Timothy! The way you shared part of your life in the review touched my heart. Again, thanks!

    Chapter 25

What with Tree Managers, portal spidernets, killer whale sized Guardians, strange energy flows, etc, I can only agree. BUT! - on the other hand, they don't have much information about those interloping Coursers.

    Chapter 25

'puppyish anticipation' - lol - I sure smiled at this reaction. yes, anticipate - those Coursers are lurking.

    Chapter 25

The Opal does seem to become more and more mysterious. It certainly has Ranevargar puzzled by the similarities, but even greater differences, to his Pearl.

    Chapter 25

Yes, after the drama and trauma of Dead World some respite is welcome indeed - but don't forget those pesky Coursers circling as an omen of imminence. Ranevargar is regarded as a spent force in Faerie - I wonder if that might protect him from close scrutiny?
  12. Palantir

    Chapter 25

Hidden link! Hmm - that would be intrigue piled on intrigue - very interesting indeed. But Ranevargar has stated with complete conviction that Keiran and his Opal cannot be separated. Oh No! not Dead World again?
  13. Palantir

    Chapter 24

Yes, there sure is a lot of unraveling ahead for the companions. And, once again, you've honed in on a point of particular interest. - more about the 'illness' after a few more chapters.

    Chapter 25

Chapter 25. "Is that it? One big blip and we’re here without getting turned inside out?" Ranevargar didn't answer Rhys straight away because he was silently communicating with Kieran. "How much did you understand, Kieran? It was a faultless transition for this size group." "A lot of it I think. I want to watch how you used your energy again though. It was much less than I have to call when we go through your boundaries." "The boundaries are a different process." "Where ar

    Chapter 24

A steep learning curve for Kieran - and what about those nosy Coursers?
  16. Palantir

    Chapter 24

Wow! I love the 'onion' description. It's so very apt. Yes. Ranevargar's healing affects what Keiran learns significantly - as we will soon see.
  17. Palantir

    Chapter 24

Lol - and about time too! BUT - how strong and how knowledgeable? - and what's with those Coursers spying out his Realm?
  18. Palantir

    Chapter 24

Chapter 24. Kieran reluctantly opened an eye and took in the glowing green where bright light from outside was making the plants hanging across the shelter entrance translucent. Neat! What was the time? He twisted sideways beneath the luxurious softness of his cover for a better look, then sat up to centre his thoughts. What was the time? ... And where was everyone? He scrambled hurriedly to the little alcove to relieve himself, slipped into his clothes, then pulled the entrance vines to one

    Chapter 23

Hmm! Interesting comment indeed. Keiran has certainly given his trust to Ranevargar, as have all the others. Ranevargar's also promised his welcome and protection while they're in his Realm. Maybe there's a reason behind his eagerness to know every tiny detail? - or might it just be natural curiosity about these decidedly interesting visitors? - we'll see!
  20. Palantir

    Chapter 23

Yes, almost an information overload. Hmm! Maybe Rane's independence and lack of interest in the doings of the High Court keeps him insulated from much that happens there.
  21. Palantir

    Chapter 23

Thanks again. I'm pleased with it now but it involved more thought and revision than any other chapter.
  22. Palantir

    Chapter 23

Yes, he is a full Realm Lord and quite different by 'design and preference. - the probing continues in the next chapter. And, yes, widderkin is another difference Ranevargar has to the rest of the realms.
  23. Palantir

    Chapter 23

Chapter 23. "Greetings young travellers. My name is Ranevargar. All my Realm welcomes you with gratitude and wonder." Kieran wasn't sure how to respond till a helpful image formed in his mind and he reached his own arms forward for a mutual wrist grasp. "Kieran is my name and thank you for your greeting." Kieran stepped straight back and indicated to Mr B to follow suit, with the sudden knowledge that this was a simple but very significant formality for Ranevargar. One by one, Rh

    Chapter 12

Skin brother. Good question. Skin brother (Woorawa just says brother but it means the same) in this case is the ceremonial acceptance of all four as part of Woorawa's extended family group. The First Australian concept of family grouping is vastly complex, intricate and inclusive. We'll see and learn more of the healing and how it works with the progression of the story. Love your comments! Thank you!

    Chapter 22

Hmm! Interesting conjectures -as usual. - and as usual - we'll have to wait and see. Lol - nope -just over half a week! It's Tuesday here and I'm aiming to post on Saturday. (3 hours work so far this morning on ch 23)
