  1. Well, it looks like our traitor general has good computer security specialists at hand. Although it may be that it's just another, normal element of warfare in Garret's universe. That was how Adamant was first attacked. Computer viruses also played important role in the attack on Peladon. And now taking control of guidance systems on missiles and torpedoes. Yes, I'm really stating do dislike Garret. I'd like to blame Masako for this, her arrogance, her tendency to assess others at first glance, judging if they're good enough to be in her inner circle (Hint: I can't abide her, I'm interpreting everything she says and does against her, always looking for malicious intents. Don't know why, really.) But I don't think this is the case. He's doing this on his own. Or, perhaps, I'm being a bitch and should re-read few last chapters when I'm in better mood
  2. Uhoh, I sincerely hope you do not want to take 12 steps?
  3. What Sharon said.
  4. First paragraph threw me for a loop... Fight? What fight? Where did that come from? Heh, should've expected such an opening from Dan... One question, though. From chapter four, about Adamant: and from the last one: I thought that this restrictive clause meant that Garret must be aboard during all Adamant's runs. Or did I misunderstand and it meant he has to be captian only formally?
  5. Hmmm... I think a clue can be found in your user-name: EMoe57. This makes perfect sense, if there are at least 56 more of you... Nah. It's not a product of advanced science. It's your everyday, classical case of David-Olivier-Luka Syndrom (DOLS for short).
  6. Starting with 1471 posts? ;-)With permanent :king: icon. And with scouts merit badges (that's what they're called, right?)
  7. She does that because she's afraid of what could become public knowledge. It certainly looks like she really has a lot to hide, both from officials and their neighbours. From chapter 6:
  8. Well, it's interesting that there are 3 plots with the key word "rebellion".Federation ships used in recent attacks and markings with double helix seem to indicate that there is something wrong within Federation indeed. So, plots 4 and 5 are looking good. I'm going for 5th. Although, 3rd is tempting. I mean, she has to be evil ;-)
  9. Nah. You cannot sing that off key. It's simply not possible.Well... maybe, if someone is sober enough. But that would be just plain wrong. You can't sing it being sober! Hence, you're deceiving us. Ha! Call me Sherlock.
  10. Yesyes, they are. But who's the other creep?Mr. Dron? Nah, it doesn't seem likely, he was described as old and Frank was chasing our bad guy for quite some time without success.
  11. Those salespeople! They're like that. They'll say and do anything to get you to buy some thoroughly corroded piece of junk, with engine that will consume, beside gas, also oil and cooling water (?). Right. Um. To the point. They're evil, I say!
  12. So, the mirrors cannot be rotated to point backward?Perhaps the extra two will stay hidden for an emergency - mothership destruction has run quite smooth so there was no need to show all assets...
  13. Nah, think you're right: Chapter 4 Chapter 7 Damn, why did I miss it?
  14. Already waiting for new chapter? How's the refreshing going?
  15. Hyyyy!!! <hyperventilates some> That's, that's, that's an outright blasphemy, that's what it is!
  16. I don't think this story has to have obligatory happy ending. Like you said, it's diffrent. But that would be waste, cause I'm with Conner: Frank is certainly a sweetheart
  17. Since the chapter 2. And, you know, technically friday will be here in 50 minutes...
  18. Yeah, that's one of the reasons why they make different outlets, so you can't accidentaly plug something in the wrong grid...Still, happens to us all
  19. Nah. They don't match only the first time.
  20. Yhy.I did. Yesterday. Don't know why I missed your post earlier. Looks good. What's interesting is that your story (so far) seems to be about 'normal' people, engaged in something way bigger then they are. It's kind of refreshing from all the Saviour-Of-The-Universe types. Definitly waiting for more.
  21. Couldn't agree more I wouldn't go that far. However, as much as David seems to cause pain (decapitated cat, if he really was responsible), Olivier wants to take it away - simple act of hugging Frank. Or the chicken ;-) I wonder if David's 'experiments' with animals were the reason for Ms. Grover's hostile behaviour. Also, did you notice this fragment? Was that David poking his head? Or am I reading to much into this?
  22. I know what you're saying, "lists" in DOR1 gave me mixed feelings. I was glad for all the details and background that Dan was providing. However, reading about them in one run, especially with my language barrier, was rather hard. But, like you, I think it's rather my problem But the description of Adamant, besides making me to read few paragraphs two times, gave me hope (because of its resemblance to DOR1) for Dan's captivating battles descriptions. :nuke:
  23. Very intriguing. Great atmosphere. Where's the reason for being nervous? But I agree with Trebs, I don't like David's personality. I'll be certainly waiting with impatience for next chapters - lots of questions need to be answered: - parents - what are they doing to push David away - perhaps they are the reason for his existence, not the mentioned fall; why they're keeping their son in house and following so closely - I mean, why isn't he treated; - David - what's with the scar on his forehead, why did Dom give him such visible distinction, and in connection with Ms. Grover, which leads to next question, - Ms. Grover - did David had anything to do with her rather unusual departure? Or am I entirely off course, my dislike for David is blinding everything and I'm seeing potential thrillers where there aren't any?
  24. Same thought here Predictions, hmm. Our boy will go shopping. For his new, shiny toy, with interstellar engines (or other FTL-something), few heavy ion cannons (or other BIGBANG-something) and lots of hull bio-plating (or any other shield-something). And then he'll indulge himself with a small ride between few systems shooting everything with Tremere
  25. Try setting character encoding to "western" (iso-8859-1) while viewing such story. There are some sites here that do not "introduce" themselves properly and if you've set your browser's default to other encoding you could experience some difficulties.
