  1. Ladies and gentlemen, introducing our newest advocacy group: G'NITE (Goat and Nelson In The End)
  2. Wow! We have a tie for my favorite Dom chapter of all time... WT 7, and Owen and Aiden's first date. But this one was hotter. :-)
  3. Milo Trust = "My Low Trust" = someone with trust issues...
  4. That's an awfully large topic. Can you point to more specific issues or questions? BTW, I'm not sure this is the appropriate forum for this question, since it doesn't address Dom's stories. You might want to try one of the forums on the main Gay Authors page. Edit - This Thread was moved to the GENERAL forum. - Vic

    DD Rant

Be nice to us, please. Our mildly corrupt but competent pro-gay government was replaced today by a bunch of conservative wingnuts. We need hot chocolate. And new chapters.
  6. Dom's most recent blog entry indicates that the chapter is imminent. So unless both Myr and Dom had simultaneous unrecoverable hard drive crashes, I'm not sure why you would say that. Is there any secret knowledge you'd like to share with the class, Buddha?
  7. It's obvious... and forgive me if someone has gone down this road before... I don't feel like reading the entire forum. Here goes. Rory's last name is Norick. Luke has a friend named Rick Leto. Rick is Luke's secret crush. Norick is code for NoRick. Or "No Rick." Or "No, Rick!" Or, on the other hand, "No, [Rory, I love] Rick!" I trust that clears it up for everyone.
  8. Slucking! What could that possibly mean other than "sucking with the proficiency of a slut"? This is a word the world has gone without for too long. Tim, I pronounce you a genius. As well as a slut. :king:
  9. I feel the same. One of the major overarching themes among the three works has been the complexity and variety of relationships between parents and children (and in particular, gay children). We have the physically abusive parents of Owen, Tony and Dennis; the emotionally abusive mothers of Aiden and Jude; Quinn's frosty control freak mom; and now Rory, whose parents have, in a sense, traded places between physical absence and presence in his life. Along the way, we've met a lot of "friends' parents" as well (Angie Sader, the Cheseleys, the Clairs) who have shown our sometimes suspicious protagonists that there are understanding parental souls out there. I don't see the three stories as being fundamentally different in terms of theme (let alone genre) - they all deal with self-discovery, romance, and coming out. They are all bildungsromans (Google it ) I think that they differ in the degree to which they emphasize different sorts of friendships, families, psychological traumas, and the paths we take to find our different places in the world.
  10. Dom... oh my god. Words fail me. Clearly, they didn't fail you. That was a remarkable piece of writing.
  11. Uhhh.... yeah. Thanks for that.
  12. I concur with Raz and Tarantio. I think Jim has done a very adept, light-handed job in smoothing out the rough edges of DD, but the revision of TLW doesn't ring true. It's a bit too staccato, and lacks that certain Dom-ish rhythm. Trust your writing skills, Dom. A million Domophiles can't all be wrong.
  13. I have a strong sense that Seth's ichthyophobia would cause him to disapprove of Grandma Alice. (Sniff...sniff...) Anyway... this dude is all over signs on Toronto's subways lately - he's starring in a cheesy Canadian rip-off of Dawson's Creek or something. For some reason, my brain has glommed onto him as Luke's representative on Earth. Hopefully, the 'real' Luke is a little less of a pre-fab plastic twink. Cute, though, isn't he?
  14. I'm still giggling over the fact that a guy with FISH in his name doesn't like to eat the stuff, gets freaked out by deep water, and wears a fisherman's hat. (And there's the fact that he's gay.... but that relates to a more off-colour joke that I'm far too classy to mention...)
  15. Rating: 9/10 (why not 10? because I don't want you resting on your laurels.) Favorite Character(s): Owen, Aiden, Chris, Tony Why? Owen - a stud, and a really nice, humble, subtle narrator of his own growth Aiden - patient, sweet, wise, and balanced Chris and Tony - the brothers I wish I had Least favorite character - Adam. In real life, I think he would've seen his sister as a total bitch, and that would have given him pause to examine (if not completely reject) his belief system as it pertains to sexuality. Not to mention the fact that almost everyone else around him was behaving appropriately... I just think he would have clued in. Loose ends? Yep. Dennis and Reilly. Comments: Dom, you've graduated from the ranks of good Nifty writers, into the pantheon of great Nifty writers who can FINISH a story, and finish it at the right time, in the right way. Please don't let anyone tell you that leaving some ambiguity behind is a bad thing. Not all of us like being spoon-fed. :-) And keep workin' those sex scenes. If you're ever in Toronto, I *know* a certain 3some you'd fit into. Rrrrowrrr!
