  1. Meh, it must be nice to have faith. I have spent months trying to assume that there's a good reason for this, but I really don't think so. I don't know anything about the man's private life other than what I read here, but it sounds unlikely that anything truly awful would happen to him without someone in his online life being aware of it. If someone is aware of "it" and hasn't said something because Dom has asked him/her not to, well, that may be justifiable, but after a year, it doesn't really do much to temper my assertion that he doesn't care about his readers at large. Whatever has befallen him, it would be high time for him to ask Myr or someone to say "Can you let them know you don't anticipate anything more from me for the foreseeable future, and I'm sorry?" I think it's more likely that his muse left him, he got tired and cynical as a result of bitching and carping from fans over email, he threw up his hands (consciously or unconsciously), and just neglected to tell the rest of the fanbase. I can understand that, but again: a year is a long time to go without saying: "um, guys? I'm not feeling it anymore. Sorry." My judgment clearly doesn't matter for much in this case. Maybe, though, this will pass by the eyes of another gayauthor, who will at least reflect on the fact that some people prefer closure over lingering uncertainty in cases like this.
  2. I'll "help Dom out" if Dom gives any indication of caring about his readers. Some writers around here have the decency to keep their readership updated in the event of a lengthy hiatus or an unexpected delay in completing a story.
  3. Wow... 18 days without a comment: giving the people what they want is evidently a really good way of bringing conversation to a close!
  4. Oh, holy hell. That was really good. At the end, I felt like I was standing on that beach, alone, at night, with a cold, strong shore wind blowing past me.
  5. Uhhh.... yeah. cool. /crickets
  6. Seems like "soon" is a relative term around here...

    Email sucks

    mrow.
  8. Damn, Dom... thanks so, so much for finishing the story, and in style.
  9. Still waiting to hear what comes after "Mom..."
  10. Thankyou thankyou thankyou! This has quickly become one of my favourite stories here - the characters are like nothing else I've encountered.
  11. That was so damned sweet... the description of those first few days when you can't get enough of him was really evocative. And the closing scene was touching, but Ry and Jake still stayed in character. Awesome job, J.
  12. Meh, I gave you a couple of months before poking you...
  13. Okay, Zot... not to sound ungrateful, but time is flying, and you need to seize the day and get Carpe Diem up. Please?

Welcome to adulthood! You need Urban Dictionary. Merry Christmasizzle, fo shizzle!
  15. At our place, the cats and the guests have a symbiotic relationship. The guests view the cats as amenities (footwarmers!), and the cats view the guests as new sources of amusement. If it's not the same at your place, you either need new guests, new pets, or both.
  16. Still checking in every couple of days, Zot... it would be great to see an update.
  17. Sad is one aspect of it... right now, though, I'm seeing it as a bit disrespectful. Dom is of course free to do whatever the f he wants, and needless to say, he shouldn't force the writing if he isn't feeling it. But to basically stop communicating at all (one little blog post in almost 8 months???) is to turn one's back on a relationship with a dedicated group of readers, and it's really not cool. Undoubtedly, someone will point out that Dom doesn't "owe" us anything. Maybe not, but this isn't the breach of a legal contract we're talking about: it's a social dynamic - and Dom has basically given up his end of it. It's a shame - he used to be both an engaging presence on his blog, and someone on whom one could depend to actually finish a story. Now, he's neither. There are a number of authors out there who take forever and a day to post new material (e.g., Adam Philips "Crosscurrents") but at least some of them bother to engage with their readers in the interim. That's called respect, and class.
  18. It's difficult to imagine 'internet issues' so all-encompassing that they would prevent a motivated author from posting anything - even an apologetic blog entry - for two and a half months.

the sound of crickets in here is deafening...

    I blog too much.

Of course, there is such a thing as blogging too little...

    squiggly-brained

As Dan Savage might say: DTMFA.
  22. I totally get that Dom is busy, and he is an amazingly prolific writer, and know I have no right to ask for favors... but... if he knows for sure that he won't be able to get a chapter out for, say, longer than 10 days, it would be cool of him to leave a message to that effect. It would save some of us the repeated disappointment that follows the wake-up-make-coffee-click-With Trust-ritual. ;-)
  23. I didn't want to be the first culinary pedant to chime in with that. Anyway... at least Nelson was only squeamish about the soup, rather than the... uh... other liquidy treat.
