Poetry by Renee - 2. Overcoming Depression

Depression sometimes hits you
Like a cat pouncing at a mouse
Or sometimes it creeps up on you
Taking all year through.
Talk to people about it
Maybe a counselor or two
But please don't get discouraged
If you don't get well right soon.
Recall your happy times
Maybe sad ones too
Compare them all together
And choose the happiest ones.
Get off the run on course
For it only hits dead on
You're on your way to recovery
And I hope you get well soon.

The first two lines are powerful, and a great way to describe it... and yet the next two lines are equally true. What's awful is when you get the double whammy... an uneasy subject, well tackled... I like that it morphs into an encouraging and rallying cry to have faith. Cheers... Gary....

Thank you, Gary. There's really no way to describe how depression attacks, and I saw more than my share over the years. But, there has to be hope, or what's the point?
