Poetry by Renee - 3. The Battle
Withering away while dying inside,
Wondering what’s going to be.
How to fight a losing battle,
When the outcome is so bleak.
Some days are better than others,
Most are covered in a thick black cloud.
Memories fight to be remembered,
Maybe that’s all that will ever be.
Despair is a constant companion,
While trudging through the sludge.
The truth doesn’t set one free,
Only heaps more burdens upon the shoulders.
Claws tearing at the walls of happiness,
Determined to destroy a loving home.
The strength to go on fighting,
Gradually beginning to fade away.
The reminder of what’s at stake,
Constantly pounding inside the mind.
There has to be an end in sight,
Before the darkness consumes everything.
