Poetry by Renee - 4. I Feel Like

With some encouragement.... here's another poem from my book...

I feel like a storm
ready to burst.

I feel like the rain
tears hitting the earth.

I feel like a cyclone
with nowhere to go.

I feel like a tornado
destroying everything in my path.

I feel like the wind
nipping in coldness.

I feel like a floodgate
emotions ready to burst.

I feel like a wave
crashing with force upon the water.

I feel like a flame
burning everything I touch.

This is the way I feel
and this is just today.

That's an awful lot of broiling emotions for one day. The flame burning everything it touches is very powerful, along with the other metaphors you mention. Power in nature mirrors human emotion. Thanks for sharing, Renee.

Most of these were written after my brother's death and I was a very angry and depressed teenager for quite a few years and had a lot of days like this one. Spending a lot of my time in the outdoors, those seemed the most appropriate to get my feelings out. Thank you, Mac!

Felt quite the pull from these words. Had me in its grip one line to the next. Powerful metaphors, Renee.

So incredibly relatable. Often too many emotions to control.

Thank you, JP!  Emotions can be a difficult thing.

I've just read through your poems, and this one evokes the most feeling... I think it's my favorite because it feels so honest, like you are baring yourself... just awesome, Renee. I think it's brilliant, but I hope you have easier days in store... Cheers... Gary....

Thank you, Gary. I still have days like this, but for the most part they are few and far between. I can't remember exactly what prompted me to write this one, but I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Hi Renee,

It made me remember those days when u have too many emotions n feel too full! The comparison with natural disasters was a very powerful way of depicting how strong the emotions are! Really written well!
