Incarnations - 2. Living Evolution

Inside -- upside down

Topsy-turvy, spinning ‘round

Living on a life-line -- astronauts in space

Living evolution; creation’s slap in the face.

Tight little tummies tucked all in

Hiding faces, fingers, toes and skin

No one sees me, knows I’m here

No one believes till they’re gulping for air.

Praying to the porcelain gods –

Please, oh please, not me.

Secret found -- ultrasound

Thumpa-thump, sound so keen

Tiny thing the size of a bean

Oceans of lotions: hands, feet, face, back, belly

Some end in the name Jelly.

Kicking room gone

Toe stuck in a nostril

Lots of pressure,

Hard to spin, hard to turn

Hard to punch and kick

I don’t like this pressure.

Shoulders shoving, turtle-doving

Elbows, knees go to town

Right side up - upside down.

I really don’t like this pressure.

But I do like my nose being toe free.

Slippery sliding – gravity colliding

Warm and wet – shivers get

Turnin’ blue – a sneeze or two

What’s that wail? What the hell?

“It’s a boy! You have a son.”
