Remembrance - 1. Chapter 1

I'd been thinking of my mother since her roses are in full bloom. Then I read the poem by Frostina and was inspired to sit and write this one.

Remembrance

The roses wrap around the fence like bloody explosions

Their sweet aroma filling the summer air

And all I can say is you are not there

I walk past your favorite places now and then

Remembering the good times had

Even the times when I was stupid and made you mad

Time flies and more than a year has passed

And the tears don’t fall so much any more

But I wonder what that pain I felt was for

The grave is still so bright and white

And the dates are carved deeply on it

While hours pass as here I sit

I wonder if I come here out of guilt

But you always loved me

Were always there for me

I think it is more to let you know what has happened

How my life changes and goes on

But still it is to your side I am drawn

The night is falling here now around me

As the shadows fall I feel so calm

Just one thing more – Goodbye Mom

Time eases pain and memories slow fade. However the love one feels is never forgotten.

Oh wow I get to enjoy two poems from two of my favorite poets :2thumbs: There is beauty in simplicity and this one proves that. The part where you said you talk to her and tell her what's going on with your life almost made me cry :,( But don't worry, I was just touched by the scene. Thanks Wayne :)
Thank you John. Not sure I would claim the title poet but it is something I do occasionally. I am glad it was able to reach you.

Wow!

The chapter end notes wrapped it up so beautifully! remembrance... such a powerful word!

a beautiful poem , inspired by beautiful flowers, in the memory of a beautiful person!

Thank you for sharing.

ps: I'm so so stoked that i could... thank you :*)

Well for me memories are triggered by scent and sight. My mother's favorite was blood red roses. Seeing hers blooming got me thinking. Your poem was the final influence that got me to write. Thank you.

Thank you for sharing a piece of your heart with us. It reminds me of my grandpa and the hurt I still have for his passing. Yet it also reminds me of all the fond memories I have of him.
I think everyone has memories of someone that they have loved and lost. It is how you choose to look at those memories that make them either a comfort or pain. Thank you for taking the time to read and comment on them.
