Mark's Poem Archive - 13. In Just One Year

/> This is uneditted just something I needed to get out.

In Just One Year

October is the month I dread

This time last year I found her dead

I didn’t cry or shed a tear

My whole life long had been in fear

I was alone, cut off by snow

Who should I tell? Who’d want to know?

I’d held her hand and watched her die

And to this day I don’t know why

I lived with a corpse, for two long days

My mind a fog, a fear filled haze

Now that time is almost here

And so returns the pain and fear

I have a life, a future now

I’ll get through this, I will somehow

I now have love, a reason to be

No more just me, it’s us and we.

An excellent piece of verse, Marky! smile.png I remember someone telling me or perhaps I read it somewhere...poems don't rhyme anymore; Shakespeare used up all the good ones. I'm glad that's not the case. thumbsup.gif

I particularly enjoyed the poem's rhythm as you carried us from a time of dread, through endurance and struggle, to hope and love. The last line was just ...perfect!
